They don't test the pool chemistry. I had zero free chlorine just 2 days after service. The pH was way too high as well as the CYA. The pool was very cloudy one time and they did nothing about it when they came out. I had to call them back to fix their sub-par work. When I confronted them about the dirty skimmer baskets, Jack denied responsibility rather than man up and fix it. The Good: The…read moreservicers/pool technicians are thoughtful, thorough, and helpful and do a good job maintaining the pool. I was on a weekly service plan, and the service was smooth other than the summer's heat. Note: In the summer heat or if you have lots of use during the summer, you will need to shock or add chemicals yourself. They don't make return visits in between jobs. The Bad: Service is inconsistent. 1.) Setup on a Tuesday, all good until the techs don't show up, and then you'll have to ask what happened, and you'll be on a new schedule. My schedule changed more than four times in 6 months. 2.) When it rained, and I called to be rescheduled, the GPS Onwer said there are five weeks in a month, and they only do four services. He was short on the phone and said they would take care of it next week. I ended up servicing the pool myself Communication is inconsistent. This is not a proactive service. The customer must probe on what is happening around service or questions. Be careful what is said; the owner is sensitive and short in temper and may not know what the tech is doing. No Ownership / Accountability for Issues. If you have an issue, you will not get a resolution. 1.) I gave a technician a Psyclone Filter Cleaner; he said the owner would give me a discount/credit on my bill; when I asked about it, the owner did not know and said that he fired a technician; it must have been him. I lost a filter cleaner ($300), and the Owner did nothing. 2.) I was on holiday for 3 weeks, and I returned to the house and found the pool pump running with no water circulation. The pump plumbing was so hot I estimate the pump had been running 8 hours a day for at least a week. If you look at the pics below, you can see the technician crushed the white internal filter tube when re-installing the filter cartridge. I took pictures, fixed the issue, and emailed the owner what had happened and that I would hold his company accountable for any damage. The GPS Pool Cleaner Owner showed up at the house, and I showed the owner what happened to the white tube and that the heat of the pool pump without water damaged o-rings in a cross pipe that is now leaking. He stated that I threatened him because I asked him to be accountable for the services that I pay him to provide. The Owner of GPS Pool then used unprofessional language telling me how old the equipment was, I had terrible pools, that they have problems, and that any problem was not his responsibility. He fired me as a customer and refused to hear any further explanation. Oh yes, he did try to blame everything on a technician he fired. I asked when he was fired with no response. I have video footage from May 11th - May 14 that shows the GPS pool technician servicing on May 11th, and on May 12th, you can see the pump slowly losing power and eventually not producing any filtering by the end of the 12th. By May 13, the pool was no longer filtering. How can he say it's not his fault when the evidence is overwhelming, and his tech was the last to service the equipment? I will be posting to YouTube soon. In short, don't expect any resolution; pool owners, beware.

I called Mitchell and Patrick at Pool Side Leak Detection. They came out within a week with a big trailer full of equipment to see what was going on with my pool. I hung out with the crew as they went from jet to jet, drain to drain, and carefully and diligently checked out every pipe, and every light to get to the bottom of the problem. I was super impressed when they brought out an underwater microphone to listen for drips. As they worked, they explained good pool practices, maintenance tips, they told me what they were doing, their line of reasoning for what they're doing. They answered all my crazy pool questions with a smile. I really appreciated the tutorials and info on the pool. In all, they had to break out the scuba equipment to find the leak- it was in the underwater light! They got in there with some 'bubblegum' and fixed it right up so it's watertight. It was a great value to have them out and saved me lots of money with otherwise having to search for the leak, which I'd have never found. They were upfront about expectations, pricing, and how they work. I am new to pools, so I really appreciated the crash course in pool mechanics and maintenance. He came over within 2 days with all of his equipment. Pin pointed the leak. Repaired it. The concrete had to be jackhammered. When it was all said and done I could barely tell where the work had been done. I don't know if it was expensive or not bc Mitchell responded quickly and professionally, and that's what I needed, so I didn't price shop and don't regret it. Disappointed and Frustrated - Would Not Recommend…read more In 2023, Gary's Pool and Patio installed our pool. While the initial pool installation went smoothly, nearly everything that followed has been a huge disappointment. They recommended a subcontractor named Frank to handle the concrete, coping, and installation of three water sheers--this was a major mistake. The concrete work is wavy and has already started cracking. The pool drain is so tight that it's nearly impossible to remove for cleaning. The cool coat applied was so thin that within just a few months, the base texture and color were showing through. Even worse, the $1,800 water sheers are unusable because they leak. Within the first year, the pool pump had to be replaced. The sand filter leaks. I've been reporting an ongoing water loss issue--200 to 300 gallons weekly, even through the winter months--and despite sharing results of a bucket test with Gary's, I've received no response or assistance. No leak detection, no follow-up--nothing. The Cool Coat had to be completely redone, but neither Frank nor Gary's Pool and Patio would stand behind their workmanship. I asked Gary's to price match the Cool Coat, and they came back $175 higher than other vendors. Financing was also a headache. We caught them overcharging us--an obvious billing error that we had to point out. Toward the end, they wanted us to send them the remaining loan funds (around $5,000) and promised to reimburse us. This raised serious red flags, and we were told, "We do this all the time," as if that should have reassured us. "Pool school" was a joke. We paid to learn how to operate and maintain our pool, yet we were never taught how to set up the lighting programs or salt generator. I had to contact Pentair directly to figure it out myself. Bottom line: Gary's Pool and Patio provides decent service until the final payment is made. After that, you're just a number. We do love having a pool, but if we could do it over again, we'd choose a different company. Don't get swayed by the promise of a lifetime shell warranty or quick installation times. Do your research--Gary's Pool and Patio is not what they appear to be.
