i honestly regret buying anything at this store. went in for some sandals and after purchasing i realized i got the wrong size so i went back to ask if they could exchange them for some my size. i was dumb and threw away the tag and receipt and they told me i had to have them in order to do an exchange (fair policy which im not complaining about) they were unwilling to print another receipt so i went to go fish it out of the trash. when i returned with the tags and receipt i asked and looked around if they had any in my size and after looking around they didn't. i didn't like any of the other styles so i asked if i could get a refund (mind you i did not have an attitude whatsoever when i asked) i was met with an extremely rude attitude and the guy at the counter said no refund were allowed only exchanges (MIND YOU NO WHERE IN THE STORE OR RECEIPT DOES IT SAY SALES ARE FINAL OR NO REFUNDS ARE ALLOWED) the guy talked to me as if i was stupid saying that they allow try ons so that you can get what you want and they can't do refunds because of that. i asked if he was a manager or boss of the place and he said he was a manager so we asked if he could contact his boss and he again had a big attitude towards me, laughed at me and even pushed us aside to help other customers as if we weren't customers too. after insisting he contact his boss (because i obviously want a refund for $120 sandals that don't fit me) he reluctantly did and told us we'd have to wait for him to get out of his lunch which we were willing to do. after a while they finally gave us the refund but while the transaction was happening the environment felt hostile and negative. i'd leave zero stars if i could but i want people to see this. because although yes i was dumb to get them the wrong size i don't think it was that big of a deal for them to catch an attitude when i politely asked. we weren't trying to be rude at all or make their lives harder we were just trying to get a refund for $120 sandals that didn't fit and since they couldn't provide the product i think it's fair that i asked for a refund. i'm not the type of person to be leaving reviews at all so me saying this says a lot about how disrespected i feel. i work in customer service too so i understand having annoying customers but there was genuinely no reason for them to catch an attitude and be extremely rude (when they were insinuating we were dumb) for something that could've been easily fixed. i understand there's fees that come with refunds but business's should know that that's a sacrifice they have to be willing to make especially if they don't display that sales are final or that refunds aren't allowed. This is a cool souvenir shop, the prices are the same as the pier maybe higher but they offer a ton of items. If it weren't for the grass flip flops that caught my attention in the window I probably would've walked on by. They sell the typical; sweaters, hats, beanies, shirts, coasters, key chains, skateboards, Olukai shoes, socks, mugs. The quality of the products is very good, its family owned and they seem to also reach out to small business; jewelry, candles etc. Check them out, doesn't hurt to walk in. read more

I mean look guys. You may not agree with me. But the first time I saw this store with a name "Sand n Surf" I immediately thought that they sell surf equipment and everything that has to do with surfing specifically. And I kept it in mind that one day I'm gonna come and look at what they got. Finally this day came and after a nice dinner I went there having an intention to spend at least an hour looking at the surf boards, wet suits, comparing prices etc. Guess what, no surf boards, no wet suits, nothing regarding the world of surfing except some magnets, t-shirts and souvenirs. It was a disappointment. Everything is bright and truly attracts your attention but this place looks like, I call it, a "tourist's trap", i.e. some clothing, made in China, high prices, cause it's Santa Monica. I didn't look whether everything is made in China or at the prices. Maybe not. It's just a suspicion. But I would say, most likely. Overall, from my point of view, the name of the store should be changed. read more

This place is perfect for getting all your summer and beach/surf needs. I went in looking for a pair of sandals and came out with the sandals I needed, along with a new pair of board shorts and a beach towel. Options are plentiful and I had many choices. They carry Billabong, O'Neill and Salty Crew board shorts which all look amazing and are really great quality. I went with Reef sandals but other options included Olukai and Rainbow. I didn't even need a towel but the towels they had were too hard to pass up so I ended up getting a SlowTide towel as well. This store is amazing and truly has great prices and service. On Tuesday evening, December 6, 2016 at about 8:45 pm, my daughter from Tennessee and I were shopping for Christmas gifts. I was purchasing the fake grass flip flops, a hippy looking poncho plus my daughter had a shirt, sweatshirt and a couple of children's T-Shirts she was going to purchase.. At the last moment my daughter saw a sand dollar Christmas like ornament- a sand dollar sprinkled with glitter and was laughing a bit as the price was $12.95 and we have buckets of sand dollars at home we could decorate like that for a craft for her two children. As she took it off the over stuffed hanging display it fell to the floor, barely chipping the edge. Your employee, who gave the name Cori, never saw the event however being honest we took the sand dollar to her to show her and apologize. We offered to pay the cost value of the item, as we, as business owners understand cost/ retail markup. We wanted to be honest but Cori was not kind nor helpful. In fact she had no other customers in the shop and she never even greeted us. There was a male employee who did greet us however both were busy stocking the floor. So I explained that the rack was a bit difficult to easily remove the sand dollar that was hung by a gold thread but we would be glad to pay a lower amount for the damaged item along with our three other items. She was literally very rude and condescending towards us and stated she wasn't concerned whether we purchased the other three items or not but regardless we must pay $12.95 ( I believe that was the price) plus tax. Even after I again asked if she'd lower the price and we would still purchase the other items, as the Sandals were a gag gift for my son who's planning to replace his grass with artificial turn and the poncho was for my other daughter who really loves the look, plus the shirt was a gift from Santa Monica for her husband, as he stayed home with the children while my daughter flew 10 hours each way to take me to Cedars Sinai CSF Neurosurgeon appointment for my spinal disease appointment for upcoming surgery. ( none of the medical event was explained to your employee) Regardless, Cori stated she wasn't concerned about making sales, I must assume she's not a commissioned sales person, and absolutely refused any negotiation. I want to be very clear that as Christians, and my daughter is a Pastor's wife, our behavior and attitude was not rude nor unkind. I've owned my own businesses for 38 years, still do and understand how to properly behave. We asked for a manager or owner. She refused to give a name but provided me with a business card and I wrote the name she gave as hers, Cori, on the card. Cori was young, early 20's possibly, with dark hair. My daughter then paid for the sand dollar with a credit card but then instead of handing us the sand dollar she placed it behind the counter to my left! So my daughter had to request that we at least could take the sand dollar with us, since we just PAID FOR IT!. which Cori then just handed over without saying a word. I have tried to call the store a number of times however there is no answer. I was going to try to message the company privately on Facebook so the owner could be informed and I not have to post this on Yelp however there is no way to reach them. I would be careful buying from this little shop until they address the situation. It's a very poor way to treat customers and word of mouth is the worst form of advertising if it's not a pleasant experience.talking with my daughter on the phone now, our purchases would have been over $200. read more

To be honest I am appalled at some of the other reviews this store got, and let me tell you why. So to start off you should know that for whatever reason I am obsessed with anything with a California logo on it so my sister came to this store to buy me a birthday gift. The type of the tank was great but I wasn't feeling the color so I went in myself to exchange it. Once I got there I was greeted by a very kind sales associate named Gloria who helped find he same tank in a color that I loved. After spending a decent 15 minutes with me trying to find a tank top that I liked she redirected me to Cori who helped with the rest of my purchases while she went to break. Cori was super patient and very knowledgeable about the products that they sold. Needless to say I ended up leaving with a new tank, toms and bunch other random cali attire.
