So I came here for my first professional facial EVER. As a newbie, I didn't know what to expect. I'll say first that their service and the facility was very nice and clean. I definitely trust that they have a great establishment. Once in the treatment room, again you can see how well kept the place is. I felt very comfortable in the room. My facial was done by a woman named Candace. I let her know it was my first time and I was mainly concerned by blackheads, my dry skin and some breakout areas. She gave me a good consultation at the beginning and end of my treatment, with advice here and there in between. If there's anything I wish happened differently is I wish I asked her to explain more about what was happening when it happened. Since I had no idea what was going on, I'm not so sure what I did and didn't like. I paid extra for a microderm facial, when I original came for a European facial. I thought it'd help clear away my badly treated outer skin. That part of the facial was the most painful. It was a scraping sensation that felt like someone shaving you. I enjoyed the mini-shoulder and face massage that comes with the facial. I get professional massages semi-often and appreciated that being included. Lastly, I had blackhead extractions. I've been wanting this done for a while. I do peels and strips at home to try to treat it and don't see great results. I would say Candace wasn't too forceful with it. Felt no more or less painful than if I were to try push them out myself. I will say that I didn't notice too much of it out by the end. She warned me she couldn't get it all and I'd have to come back for her to try again. To me, facials are a fun experience and worth doing to learn about your skin treatment. Yet, I wouldn't make the decision to do this often. Definitely not as often as they tell you to. I can see the benefits, but it's not something I recommend to drop this much money on. I like this place though. So when I do eventually want one done again, this place has my business! One last tip: parking is tough here since it's on a busy Manhattan beach small street. So definitely come a good 15mins before you appointment so you have time to look for parking! read more

I had a wonderful 90 minute massage with Marya this weekend. She really got in there and worked out all my knots! I was experiencing neck pain for weeks, and since she worked on me I have NO pain whatsoever. The spa itself is charming - not a whole lot of frills, but it feels very relaxing, clean and zen. They are taking all the precautions during COVID, everyone wears masks. I will definitely be returning! read more

I came in yesterday because I saw they were having an $89 special on the Fire and Ice facial. I booked last minute and Rula was my estethician. She was kind but the facial was just so-so. The pros were the arm massage and gentle extractions. I would say that she really didn't speak that much about what she was doing so thought that was odd. Typically during a fire and ice facial, the estethician goes over the steps with you and alerts you when the next product is going on. She was an esthetician of few words. At the end of the facial, she told me to start using eye cream but with no explanation of why. Very rude. The room I was in was so small, Rula was hopping over cords to avoid tripping. The room was not nice at all, white, bare walls with a bed that barely fit in the room. Not very inviting for a facial room. Also, I can't stand when estheticians leave the room, Rula left three times. This takes time away from your facial. So all in all, it's a you get what you pay for situation. read more

Just Got out of my "fountain of youth" peel was so relaxing and the esthetician was wonderful it's a great little private beach bungalow with relaxing music the receptionist was super nice also and the chaise was super nice and comfortable.. the products in the peel enzyme mask etc ranged from spearmint to eucalyptus to bergamot orange and you could feel the tingle which of course is ideal.. definitely a nice retreat perfect pick me up and everything a spa facial should be.. relaxing chill friendly and Efficient love the feel of my fresh smooth face read more

Came to Sand Spa for a couples massage and the atmosphere inside is super relaxing. This place isn't huge it's a nice small little establishment and it's awesome! By far Sand Spa is one of the most professional spas I have ever been to. When we booked the appointment on the phone the employee who answered was very helpful about the time we should be there and to be ready. The actual massage therapists were super cool! We had two young ladies that conducted the massages and it felt amazing! Whenever I get massages it's always too light but they worked areas on my back that were just right. Hands down one of the best massages I've received. Once done they were very helpful stating that we should stay hydrated afterwards. This is place is just wonderful. I'm currently walking post massage, and am feeling more blissful than I have in months. It also doesn't hurt that as soon as you walk out you're greeted by the sight and breeze of the ocean. This was my second visit here and though I had a different masseuse this time, the consistency is real! I love that I can count on them for an effective, stress-relieving massage no matter who I see. I'd like to give a lower rating. I asked when making the appointment if the massage therapist were vaccinated. I was told they were. I asked when I arrived and the massage therapist said no. She was not. They provided lots of excuses about why but it doesn't matter. There is no excuse for not being vaccinated and exposing others without their knowledge. Please remove the therapists who are not vaccinated until they are fully vaccinate. There is no excuse that will suffice exposing others. Do not blame the government or anyone else. The person who isn't vaccinated for whatever reason, can stay home. Or get vaccinated! No one should be in the same enclosure with the two therapists who aren't vaccinated. Put a sign on the door that says enter at your own risk, because this business allows therapists to be there without vaccinations. read more

Easily one of the best massages I've ever had. Both the receptionist and my masseuse were extremely kind and friendly. The massage room itself wasn't anything to be excited about, but I was coming in for a massage where my head is face down and my eyes are closed (so not sure about the other complaints below but maybe they have different priorities). My masseuse asked where I needed the most work, if I had any injuries and listened. She applied the perfect amount of pressure based on my comfortability and I really appreciated it. I am disappointed. I spent weeks looking for a spa to surprise my boyfriend with. I found this one! The reviews were great! Right by beach and restaurants! I'm currently pregnant with our first and my boyfriend has been amazing during my pregnancy so this was a "just because gift". I scheduled a sports massage. Now, I was waiting in the car with my food, chillin. He comes back, disappointed. Why? His massage therapist is an elderly woman. Now, please don't get me wrong, I LOVE my elderly people! They're an old soul with so much life. But to be doing a sports massage? He said she was very uncomfortable. My boyfriend isn't the type to say something because he's sweet and he felt so bad. But for 60 minutes he was uncomfortable. The massage was a bit rough and because she's a treasure in age, she got tired quickly and he was worried she was going to pass out. This massage was for sore muscles and he came back not feeling anytime of relief. He does hard labor everyday at work and I'm just disappointed. I paid, and tipped in advanced. He felt like he has to help her with his own relaxing massage. Like come on. I debated writing this review because it was nothing against the massage therapist but the people who scheduled her to do it! Worst massage I've ever had in my life. Masseuse did not know what she was doing. I was pinched, she did not massage the left and right side of my body equally. I had to ASK her to massage my back? She didn't even do my feet she kept rubbing my leg for a long time. She left OIL on ONE of my legs. Honestly it seemed like a prank. I told the front desk that I was really unhappy with the experience and they said they would reach out to me but never did. Gave them a couple weeks. I've had $20 massages better than this place. Save money and get a cheap massage or spend the extra $ for a real spa experience, either way you'll be happier. read more

I had a great experience here once. So we returned. The second experience was horrible. I took my daughter both times for massages. She plays softball and the massages were intended to help with some muscle tightness and just to relax after working so hard in the field. On our second trip there her therapist lectured her about how parents push kids to hard in sports and that's why her muscles Are so tight. So the issue is- 1) it's not her spot to have an opinion 2) it was supposed to be a quiet relaxing hour not a chit-chat I called and let the front desk Person know as I drove us home but never received a follow up or an apology from ownership or management. Got a gift certificate from Christmas to go here and I frankly wouldn't come here again. The masseuse was very pretentious and condescending and I felt uncomfortable being around her. She was talking down to me as if she either didn't want to be there or she could have been racist towards Asian people. This review is for Gonzalo - I was fully satisfied with my two hours deep tissue massage this morning. Service is great, place is clean and as you saw from pictures, cool dark, peaceful music and super comfy bed. I really appreciated that Gonzalo paid attention specifically to the areas I asked and pretty well did everything I had asked. My shoulders and lower back bug me and he worked them. He was good with pressure, did two full hours, put some hot stone near the end which is probably good for the muscles and just made good use of the time. First time here after a Crossfit competition. So let's just say I woke up on Monday and my everything was hurting. With the help of yelp I was able to find this place and with my luck I found they had an appointment for 11 am that same day. It was a weekday but still surprised that they had a lot of open slots. Booking was really easy and I chose to go in for a well needed sports massage. Parking is not that bad at that time of the day, but later on the day or in summer it might be a little hard to find a spot in the street to park. Walked in and was greeted with a big smile from the woman in the front desk. I signed a small form, she asked me if I needed anything special worked on, offered me water, restroom and told me to take a seat. Between a minute my masseuses came to greet me. I got so lucky that I found the right place at the right time. Terry worked wonders on my poor injured body, she applied the right pressure and made sure that it was the right amount of pressure that I needed. Soft music playing on the background and deemed lights for total relaxation. Great experience and found me a nice clean place to go and relax as I get all my nots worked out. The worst massage I've ever had. I really wanted to like this place because I'm new to the area and massages are my favorite way to relax. I'm a new mom and was so looking forward to a massage. I go in and everything is fine, the woman at the front desk is super friendly. I get into the massage room as the masseuse comes in and asks me if I have any specific areas id like her to focus on. And then she says "don't tell me your neck and shoulders". I wanted to leave right then and there. I wasn't in the mood for that. I was there to relax and have someone massage my aching body. Doesn't matter if it was my neck and shoulders. Then we get to the massage and it's pretty weak. She says "I have you down for a Swedish deep tissue, but you can't handle that, you should just enjoy a relaxing massage". I don't need anyone to tell me what I can and can't handle. All the people were very friendly and made sure my best interests were their top priority. Found out later that one of the people that was greeting me was the owner. Had a hot stone deep tissue massage today. The massage therapist was good, and used good pressure, but the massage itself felt disconnected. The movements were quite rough (not pressure wise). I also was a bit disappointed as I specifically made the appointment for a stiff neck, circled that as an area of focus for the massage on the questionnaire, AND reiterated to my therapist my reason for visiting, but there was no additional focus on my neck / shoulders outside of a typical massage. I would go back again but my neck didn't feel any better leaving than it did going in. Update: the owner, Gretchen, called and offered me a complimentary session to make good on this. read more
