Yesterday, I went to Sand Spa for a European Facial and oh my god, it was amazing! I had Candace and she was so super knowlegeable. When I told her what I was using for exfoliation (St. Ives Apricot scrub), she told me to stop using it because it causes micro cuts on your skin, letting bacteria in, and causing acne and sensitivity. I was blown away. She even gave me some recommendations (I got the Dermatalogica Microfoliant made from rice powder and OMG it's amazing)!! I was so relaxed coming out that I am so going back in 6 weeks! Today, my husband and I went in to get a couples massage for my birthday. He got the Swedish-deep tissue combo and I got just a deep tissue. Our masseurs were so incredible. We both had ladies and they really worked our our problem spots. We felt so relaxed. Great experience! I went for the first time to do a couples massage, and it was lovely! The massage therapist were very friendly and amazing at what they do. Very small intimate establishment but doesn't take away from the experience. Everything was very clean and sanitary and it smelled amazing. The receptionist were also very nice and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others. Price was very affordable which made it even better. Don't shy away from this small establishment you won't regret it! My girlfriends and I recently had a girls spa day at SandSpa in Manhattan Beach and it was one of the best experiences! We got the hydra facial signature glows by Joy. She is absolutely amazing! She is so pleasant and makes you feel very comfortable. A few things that stuck out to me that was different from other skin care experiences I've had is that she is very passionate about educating you on the benefits of treatment and skin care products that are result driven. My girlfriend and I scheduled a couples massage requesting two deep tissue massages. I received a Thai massage instead. It was unprofessionally done not just because the room wasn't equipped for a Thai massage that normally requires balancing props like a ceiling bar but as well as the person who was giving me a massage had no idea what she was doing. I'm really experienced with massages and deep tissue massages due to the fact I've been a professional athlete for 5 years, played pro soccer. A Deep tissue massage and a Thai massage are completely different. Days after, I started experiencing pain in my lower back, not good pain. That's why Thai massages usually require balancing props so the masseuse does not apply too much weight on your lower back and sensitive areas which is dangerous and I've had it happen to a point where I had to ask the masseuse to stop. Sand spa offered me and my Gf a free massage that they never scheduled for us after two weeks of waiting and trying to schedule it. They ended up completely ignoring us and my request for a refund. Not a big fan of leaving negative reviews but this one had to happen. read more

Went here for the first time today for a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Landon. First of all, super affordable price point at $108. I called at 2:00p and they were able to see me at 3:30p. They were very timely, I checked in and waited for like 3 minutes before Landon escorted me into a room. Landon did an amazing job of checking in with me to make sure I was comfortable throughout the massage. He was incredibly strong and really got in deep on all of my muscles. I had such a wonderful experience at the Sand Spa. I had a 60minute deep tissue session with Mariya and it was absolute astonishing. Not only did she take them time to focus on my lower back (the area I was having issues with) she showed me some stretches that I could do to help prevent it from tensing up again. Ever since I've been going to her and doing the stretches I have had HARDLY any problems with my lower back any more. Mariya is also very skilled in controlling pressure. I wasn't sure of the pressure I wanted so she started off lightly and put a little more on making sure I was still fully comfortable. I absolutely recommend Mariya, you have my word she is amazing! I haven't heard the pleasure of seeing and other massage therapist but with the small taste I've gotten so far I would HIGHLY recommend getting a massage at Sand Spa. read more

I carry a lot of stress in my neck and shoulders and she was really able to get in those muscles and alleviate the tightness and pain. Sitting at a desk all day really does a number on me. We were so pleased to find a nail salon open during yet another round of CoVid closures! Sand Spa is so atypical, the entire front opens up via 2 glass double garage doors making it very light and airy. They had no record of my reservation for a gel mani which I had made 1 hour earlier, but they quickly fixed the mistake and also found a tech to do a pedi which they had said they couldn't do when I made the booking. I enjoyed my services here, the techs are thorough and pleasant, and the atmosphere was great. The only thing I did miss was a chair with a back massager, as they have deep, comfy arm chairs to sit in. NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE! Horrible (non-existent) customer service. The owner and workers here need to learn about customer service, especially since they are in the service business! We received a call 7 minutes after our massage time and were told instead of rushing over, they could reschedule us for the following day so we "can enjoy the full massage". We thought this was great! Then we received a call 32 minutes later (after the time-slot for our massage ended) from the same girl saying she made a mistake (she was new), that she could not just reschedule us for the next day the way she did, and that she has to charge us in full. Mind you, this was HER mistake, not ours. We were able to come for our massage, but were told not to come! We asked to speak to someone, she said she can have the owner call us that night. The owner never called us. I called the following morning, and was told the owner will call me. The owner never called. I called again later that day, and again the following day, trying to get in touch with the owner, to no avail. I called the following week (today) and I was told they reviewed the call log, and it shows they called us after the massage time-slot was over, and based on this, the owner did not call us and will not refund the charges. This is unbelievable! First of all, the call they saw in their call log was the girl's second call saying she made a mistake and could not reschedule us, not the first call that was 7 minutes after our start time. I even offered to show my call log which shows every call ever made between me and the spa. Second of all, even if the owner incorrectly believed the first call was made after the time-slot was over, this is still NO excuse to not call a customer back, esp. after the customer has made several attempts to get in touch with you! What is worst is the girl's response today re why the owner has not called back: the owner is "too busy". It is not surprising the staff is this unprofessional when the owner is. Side note, the first time I walked in here, one of the staff members was outside smoking and fighting on the phone with her boyfriend. I should have known then this is not the right place for relaxation. read more

Really surprised at how down market this "spa" is. Just to clarify - this is not a "spa". It is a very simple store front salon. Not relaxing or anything special. I booked and came for an oxygen facial. The technician said my skin was too dry for an oxygen facial and said I should get the hydro facial instead. It was only 25 min vs 70 min I had booked and more expensive and not very good. Very disappointing. Don't waste your money or time. read more

This really isn't a spa but a small waiting room and then you get led into a private room. My partner and I scheduled a couples massage (I personally had Maria and she was fabulous and she alone would have gotten 4-5 stars) but my partner had another therapist and she forgot to do one side of the arm-- when you're paying for $100 massage and you forget the other side and felt rushed because timing wasn't right, it doesn't leave a great feeling in the end. Also they don't communicate well and information wasn't super clear. My appointment "cost" was changed twice without explanation and only via email through an automated message. We also were charged for a special that included champagne that wasn't offered but got charged more than that package. All in all, it left a bad taste in my mouth with how a lot of things were handled. Would not recommend or come again. read more

My boyfriend and I came here this week to get sports massages since we have been running a lot and pretty much everything is sore. I had a masseuse named Landon and my boyfriend had Julia. We were both incredibly pleased. Loved the heated massage bed, very clean space, and the sports massage was perfect. (3.5 stars) Super cute, boutique spa in the heart of Manhattan Beach. Relaxing, nice beach feel inside. I booked a couples massage here with my boyfriend for two deep issue massages. The massages were great, my masseur really got all of the knots out of my back and relieved the lower back pain I often have. The deep tissue massage was extremely relaxing, I almost fell asleep and wish the hour lasted way longer. The reason I'm giving them 3.5 stars is because of my boyfriends masseuse. When she and my masseur came to greet us in the waiting room, she proceeds to take my boyfriend into a private room when the reservation was for a couples massage. When I informed her of the error, she insisted it was our mistake instead of immediately fixing the problem since my appointment confirmation was for a couples massage. Already 1 strike. After she "confirmed" we were in fact correct, she leaves us in the couples room without saying whether we should change right away or not. She comes back, my boyfriend asks "should we change now?" She responds "well of course, duh." Stoke 2. Lady, no need for the attitude. Since all spas are different, we weren't sure whether to change right away or if she just left to continue setting up the room. Also, never when you are in the service industry should you reply to a paying customer with attitude. Let's just say my boyfriend didn't like that too much and made a remark I know she heard. I wish I could remember her name, but if you get an older Asian/Filipino lady who sounds like a man, she's rude. Lastly, while the facility was cute, the bathroom sinks seemed to have a bit of visible wear and tear on the sinks which I felt should be replaced in the near future. Having already visited the Manhattan Beach location and coming away very impressed, I decided to try Sand Spa's new Hermosa Beach location to see if it was just as good. Here's my review: Upon entering the new Hermosa Beach location I immediately noticed how clean it was, just like the Manhattan Beach space. It was also beach branded as well, which was very nice. I talked to the receptionist, Joceline, who was very polite and professional. She answered all my questions and got me checked in quickly for my massage appointment. She also informed me that they were in their soft opening phase. I had a great massage experience at the Manhattan shop so I was hoping it would happen here as well. I got into my room, which was private and relaxing, and waited for my massage therapist to arrive. After a short wait, Liz knocked and came in. She was very pleasant. I explained what I was expecting and how I've had a lower back injury from my time in the Army and hoped that she could provide some relief. She told me she was certain that she could and off we went. After an hour deep tissue massage I left feeling amazing. My lower back was feeling a lot better and I felt rejuvenated. I left overly impressed, just as I had at the Manhattan Beach spa. I'm really excited to see what they do with this space after they really get up and running. If you are in the area, I highly recommend either location. You will NOT be disappointed. read more
