I love indulging in my weekly manicure & pedicure at this new super-cute nail salon. I have been going to Ms. Amy Huynh (from Diamond Nails fame) for over a year, so naturally I followed her when she recently opened this University Village area shop. Amy is professional, courteous and really sweet. Her new shop is quaint, clean and uber-relaxing-no loud TVs or radios (or coworkers gossiping) I recommend the spa pedicure with the salt scrub and luxurious massage. The salon also has waxing services; and all the prices are super reasonable. Their tag line is "A spa experience at an everyday price," and I couldn't agree more. Loves it! read more

I go here for nail art sometimes. There are usually two young, stylish women working there and they are very creative and talented at nail art, and it's affordable. 4-5 stars for nail art, but the general quality of the experience there is not up to par with other salons, which is the reason for three stars. If you are looking for a relaxing, spa-like experience, this is not the place to go. They are pleasant enough, but kind of ignore you and just kind of chit chat with each other in their language the whole time they are working. The manicure part of the process is a pretty basic service and not always done very well (today I have beautiful nail art but also some slight damage around my cuticles). I also got gel nails there once and they did not explain to me that I can't remove it myself, so I absentmindedly peeled them off and damaged my nails, damage that lasted for months afterward. The lack of "customer service" doesn't really bother me because when I go there, I just want the nail art, but if I want a full service experience, I go somewhere else. I don't get pedicures here either for that reason. And sometimes I look online for other nail art salons but don't find any with photos that even come close to the work they do at Sandals. read more

I went to Sandals with a friend after we spotted it on our way to dinner. We both went in and had pedicures. My polish (I brought my own) lasted the longest I've ever experienced. Flawless for 6 weeks!!! Of course I've been back a bunch more times, and I don't usually get my nails done. The girls are thorough and the place and equipment are clean. The salon is a bit difficult to find. It is on the same block as Marlai Thai. Lots of parking in the back lot and on the side by Marlai. My only gripe is the quality and choice of polish colors. read more

I recently moved to Eastlake and wanted to find a nice local place to get my lip waxed every so often. To my horror, basically every place was $14 or more, which I just cannot justify paying; waxing someone's lip takes literally one minute, and requires very little work. I found Sandals offered the service for $5 - sold! When I arrived, I couldn't see anyone, but a young girl came walking out from the back. I told her I was a walk-in to get my lip waxed, and she said she would get the room ready. A minute later she called me back. The waxing room was small but clean enough. She never told me her name, or really said anything except "just the lip?" and "all done!" so if a chatty experience is important to you, this might not be the place. For me, the price is key - and you cannot beat Sandals on that one. No bumps, no wax left on my face, no painful horror stories. I'll be back. read more

I'm always pretty skeptical when trying out nail salons. You have the price clearly marked in front of you, but you never know the quality of the work until it's too late and now you have to pay for nails that look like could have been done by your 2 year old baby cousin. But never fear, ladies (and gents too!) - Sandals Nail Salon will blow your expectations out of the water! First off, the venue itself is quite nice - very clean and inviting. Second, Amy is such a nice girl. She asks for what you want and then delivers with flying colors (literally!). I myself always get acrylics; sometimes I tell her what I want on them, and sometimes I just tell her what colors I want and let her creativity work because I just love the designs that she comes up with. My favorite thing she does are the 3D art, where she uses tiny molds to create 3D images of flowers and other shapes. I absolutely love it! And the best part is it's easy on your wallet - beautiful nails for cheap, who doesn't love that! No more nail salon nightmares, Sandals to the rescue! read more

I wanted to try Sandals because it is in my neighborhood and they offer dipping powder. It sounds like they have a new owner now, but I have not been in before so I can't compare to what the services were like previously. I was greeted by the very friendly owner and they got started on my nails right away because I was the only person in there (I had called to make an appointment a few days prior). The way she removed my old dip powder was pretty different from other places, in that she just used the drill file/buffer tool and did not soak them off. That made me kind of nervous because I didn't want any of my actual nail removed. She didn't harm my actual nail but it kind of looked like she didn't totally remove all of the old dipping powder before applying the new one. She kind of nicked two of my cuticles with the tool, not enough to draw blood or anything but I can see a faint reddish mark in those spots. (Side note, I have yet to go to a dipping powder salon that has not done this, aside from a place I went to in Vegas, so can anyone recommend a salon that is extra careful with the drill tool!? It makes me nervous!) The dipping powder application itself was kind of sloppy and I had to ask her to clean up the stained areas on my skin surrounding the nail (she had presumably finished because she was starting on another customer so I had to call her back over). Later in the day when I got home I noticed the gel topcoat was already chipping! I've never had this happen with dipping powder before...I'm wondering if this nail tech knew what she was doing. This has to be the best nail art salon ever! I went to their salon today for the first time and I absolutely loved it! The girl doing my hand nails was so professional and talented. I showed her a picture of the design I want to put on my nails. She looked at the picture once and was able to replicate what I wanted. I had 3D nail art on my nails and I totally loved it! It was ok experience, but... when i cane first time the owner of the place was not there, and its a great problem for new people, since stuff almost don't speak English . They saying "YES" to everything but they do not actually understand you almost at all. Somehow I Scheduled appointment for next day because i needed powder manicure and pedicure with calluses removal gel. And the only person does powder manicure is the place owner, so i had to return next day. It was a good think she called me 2-3 hours before to confirm schedule. So when i came, I received fast services, i liked the pedicure job a lot, even do they didn't understand initially what i need ( callus removal gel, they call it soft pedicure) but eventually i got good services. Owner ( Amy ) was very kind and she did build my one broken nail so we don't need to cut off the rest, she did beautiful pointy shape i liked; BUT she hurt me twice till bloody spots, she did not clean my cuticles, and she didn't file it good, she left those edges which might creat a huge problem if i will wear tights, they will just rip it. And eventually when i asked for quick dry for my toes they informed me that they don't have it, plus NO DRYER, plus i was informed that usually people wear sandals or slippers. AND we talking about 37F that day, and of course constant Seattle possibility of rain, plus i was not driving. So I didn't like this at all, but after my suggestion to put oil and wrap my feet with plastic issue was resolved. You will see pix with not cleaned cuticles and a lil healed cuts as well. read more

I have been seeing Amy for my nails for about 2years now over in Queen Anne. When she opened her own shop, I naturally followed. Until I found Amy, I had never been happy with my nails, ever. Being a hairstylist, my hands are in water all day long, and my nails break often. Since seeing Amy, my nails never break, I am always receiving compliments on how nice and natural they look, she has educated me on what is the best for my nails, and taught me more about nails. Had my last two pedis @ Sandals. The women are fast, and do a great job- my nail polish lasted a long time after. The massage chairs are also a plus. I love the "no-frills" approach, yet it is clean & comfortable. Sandals is by far the best nail salon I have ever been too. It is run by two young woman who obviously excel at what they do. The environment is lively (with hip music playing), SPOTLESS, new, and bright! Every service I've had for them is supurb! Another huge factor that plays into my 5 star rating is the prices. Most places I go that are considered "nice" are outrageously expensive for its service. Sandals is 100% affordable. I couldnt believe when I got my eyebrows waxed (best waxing I have ever had) it was $10! I highly recommend this place and I have already told my friends to go. read more

I've been looking for a nail place for awhile. Spas are nice but too expensive to go on a regular basis. Have tried several places in Bellevue but not real happy with any of them. Found this salon through yelp, my daughter and I wanted pedicures before a beach vacation so went last week to try it out. This salon is exactly what we were looking for. Cute and clean, new fixtures, easy to find, close to U Village, and has a parking lot (bonus). Amy and Ky were both excellent, very meticulous, did not feel rushed at all. The sugar scrub on our feet was fabulous. Decided to get manicures too, we were having such a good time. My daughter got a cute flower hand painted on her toes, the perfect summer-time look. I have been going to Amy for over a year while she was at the QA location, so there was no doubt I would make the trip to the UVillage area when she opened her own salon. She is THE BEST nail artist-very thorough, picky and to top it off she does terrific nail art. She changes my toenail art every time--stars for the 4th of July, hearts for Valentine's day, a pam tree and sun and fish for beach vacation. I have gone here a total of 4 times and I keep going back thinking the next time will be better but it's just not. The owner is always texting or talking on her cell phone while doing nails and she will actually stop in the middle of my manicure to answer her personal cell or text someone back. There is one gal that does an ok job with my shellac manicure but when the owner does it there's no cuticle care, no lotion, no massage. It was our first visit here and a really good first run experience all in all. We called at noon to see if we could get 3 pedis at the same time (girls day out!) and amazingly they could get us in by 4pm. Unfortunately there were only two staff to do pedis, but at least we could all three sit together and chat. They were fast but not rushed - very thorough treatment and massage, nice clean, cheerful but not 'too too' atmosphere - in line with the prices ($25 for pedis). Finally...a great nail salon in the area... I've gone to many places over the years but am always impressed with the service I recieve from Amy and the other's that work here. She is hip to all the latest trends (I am hooked on the gel polish now) and is a perfectionish (in a good way). The salon itself is pleasant and relaxing...as are the pedicures. I go here because it is so close to my house and I love the owner. She is young, hip and very good. However, if you get the other woman who works with her it is a nightmare as she doesn't speak English AT ALL, so I feel like I cant get what I want because she doesn't listen or know what I am asking for. Even the owner doesn't always listen. She is always good about asking how long I want my nails or what shape, but generally I don't think the top coat they use in the best. I always have to get a polish change every week while at other places I go to I can go about 2 weeks before I need to apply a different color or touch ups. For nail art, fake nails or gel I would recommended here as it is good and cheap. I hate getting Pedi's here. They don't massage for longer than 45 seconds on each leg and my nails were cut wayyyyy too short on my big toes which was painful for a few hours. They also don't scrub your foot very well, which I like to have done a lot to make them smooth. The last straw for me was when I called to make an appointment for anytime during the day as I was totally flexible. The lady (not the owner) said "sorry all busy". After asking her several times if she seriously had NO openings all day she just said "nope/ all booked. sorry?" and I haven't gone back. If you seriously expect me to believe you are all booked on a random Tuesday and cant fit me in for a 30 minutes fill, then I will find somewhere else to go. All in all: I definitely don't hate the place, and I do go there when needed but it is NOT my first choice. And not to mention shitty customer service. The nail techs are always on their phones and barely even smile at customers. read more

I didn't see that they offered special treatments (paraffin, hot stone, etc.) and they really don't do anything above and beyond the basics. No frills Vietnamese nail place that does a good job with nail polish application. I gave them three tries and even brought my girlfriends. My conclusion? It's an okay option if you live in the area. Here's my breakdown on Sandals. BAD -Disenchanted staff who is anemic with service-with-a-smile -Shellac not offered (only regular polish and gel OPI). Gel OPI is much thicker than Shellac and harder to remove and invasive to the nail. Suggestion to Sandals to carry Shellac. -Small shop with 2 staff. Forget about bringing your group of 2+ friends. -Don't expect to feel pampered. These gals are no frills - short massages, no smiles, little decor.... If you do feel pampered, it's probably your endorphins from being done with work or prepping for that fabulous date. -C+ decor and ambiance (translates to "why the heck don't these nail places put a little prettiness into the shops when their business is about pampering?!) -For pedi, they require you buy their file and buffer for a few $s if you don't supply your own. -I got a deep cuticle cut that bled, and the gal didn't apologize. (hmm, am I being sensitive or didn't our parents teach us that an "I'm sorry" goes a long way?) GOOD -Owner speaks English and the other gal speaks passable English -Meticulous with polish application -Comparable price to other Vietnamese nail salons -If you need to stick to the Sandpoint area, Sandals is way cheaper than Julep, Spa Scotta, In Spa and Gene Juarez.
