I've been seeing Gwyn at InSpa U Village for about 10 years for facials, waxing, microneedling and brow/lash tints. She's the best. Every service has been consistently excellent. Gwyn is both knowledgeable and skilled while being incredibly approachable and not pushy. She always adjusts treatments based on what my skin needs at the time, and her product recommendations are thoughtful and effective when I ask for them, but I never feel pressured to buy anything. I've had a handful of facials at nearby Skin Spirit, Gwyn does a better job at a better price (and no $1000 hard sales pitch on products like you consistently get at Skin Spirit). There were two of the rudest light brown hair plain looking girls working the front desk. We asked one of them- oh it says "walk ins welcome" and asked if they had a pedicure. She replied rudely- only if we have time and then said not until 7pm. We said okay and said thank you anyway and as we were walking out made a derogatory comment as we left. Please teach your rude front desk girls some manners! We are from LA and this was ruder than anything I've seen in LA! Their whole attitudes made the vibes in the place seem negative! read more

Pedicure review only! The tech was super nice. The water was a pre filled bowl that wasn't super hot - not a draining tub and it was cold by the end. The chair was at the front of the place so there's a lot of action (people coming and going, garbage coming out etc) - which isnt a big deal - but for these prices I was hoping for something higher end. The tech also didn't really "get in there" in the way a cattle-call mani-pedi place does. I have challenging feet and nails - in grown etc -- so usually it's a lot of poking and cutting back. I get pedicures for maintenance - not for aesthetic. So call me crazy but I like nothing short of minor surgery when I'm in the chair. This place was just surface - good for your grandma maybe - but next time I'll go to a less fancy spot and get the good stuff. The calf massage was good tho! read more

I love InSpa!!! I tried their Honey Glow facial on Friday and I am quickly seeing results. I was a little concerned after I came out of my appointment looking pretty red, but I think it's due to not having done any facials in the last year. My experience getting my lash extensions was great! I did like how they turned out. But my right eye got super irritated or there was glue that got in there that made my eye bloodshot red for days. I highly recommend inSpa to anyone-they are conveniently located, it is easy to park and their staff are very nice and helpful. They could book two spots at the same time but pedicure stations are facing each other in long hallway so we could see each other but not talk. I came here for the first time and got the InSpa Signature pedicure because the menu board described it as a 60min "extra care" service and that was a complete undersell! This was a complete body relaxation pedicure with the most delicious foot massage I've ever had. The price sticker has kept me away from InSpa in the past but I am 100% never turning back because it was worth every penny. The service was fine, but at the end the nail technicain felt my toenails and said they were dry enough to leave the salon in my regular shoes, not the provided flip flops. Apparently they weren't and my pedicure was completely destroyed within 15 min. That's an honest mistake and had they fixed it I would have still left a very positive review. I returned, as soon as I noticed (within 30 min of my appointment) and politely asked them to fix it. The person at the front desk flat out refused and told me I'd have to wait over an 1.5 hours. That's not acceptable, I have a life and I had other appointments I was willing to wear the disposable shoes and was told I wouldn't need to. It would have taken less than 10 min to repaint them. I told her I would accept a refund instead as I could not wait around, I had other appointments. She told me she was also not able to issue a refund. She seemed rather unapologetic about sending the message I was expected to pay full-price for a totally trashed pedicure unless I had nothing better to do than wait around for when someone happened to be free. Apparently no one at the front desk has any actual authority to do anything and they are totally unmoved if you are dissapointed in your service. I really regret tipping 20%, this place is already way more expensive than the competition and they don't provide the customer-oriented attitude to back it up. I was told someone would call me back, no one ever did. We had to call them again, and they flat out refused to give a refund. Offering to have me drive all the way back after I've already left is not sufficient. They were SUPER unapologetic and they do not warrantly their work. They straight up told me "shouldn't have trusted the nail tech". Go elsewhere, they don't care if you are happy with your service or not and for the price they really should care. read more

Mixed experiences causes a realization, and a recalculation for me. In coming here for the last year or so, I've arrived several times to find the front desk is often empty (insert chirping crickets) and had to wait 10 minutes or so before anyone "appears." I've frequently arrived on time for appointments, only to be made late by someone not manning the front desk. This week, after waiting for the front desk person to get off the phone for quite a long time unsuccessfully, I took a seat and waited until another staff member finally walked up and offered to check me in, and then she proceeded to tell me loudly, in front of a room full of just-arriving clients, that I was fifteen minutes late for a appointment and must reschedule. I had to chuckle at the irony (since I had been waiting there over 10 minutes) but rather than stammer out a response, I took it as a sign that it was time to move on down the road. I ended up at a new great spot, the Wax Bar, directly across the street. Adios chirping crickets. Goodbye inertia. I'm very happy with the switch up. read more

Came here a couple of times for a massage and once for a gel mani/ pedi. Wouldn't return for the nails. Very expensive for weird chairs and a mediocre mani/ pedi. Seriously, the pedicure chairs are awful. So awful. The 5 stars are for the incredible massage Corey gave me!!! I got a deep tissue massage from him on my first visit and he helped my pain so much that I came back a week later for a 90 min massage. I will definitely return to him only. I have been coming to InSpa for mani/pedis since moving to Seattle about 4 years ago. I'm moving back home to Chicago next week and will miss these ladies! They have taken such good care of me while I was away from home. I can't comment on the other services, but the mani/pedis are always consistent and relaxing and the pricing is super reasonable. I have been going to InSpa for 4 months now and had my Brazilians done by Sonja. She does a wonderful job and chatting with her during the process calms my nerves down. I love the no tipping policy but I would tip Sonja if it was allowed. The reason why I am giving this 3 starts is due to the front desk service and location. The ladies that usually work in the front are not that friendly and seem annoyed if it takes awhile to process payment and appointments. As for location, I found it hard to find a bus that will go directly there so I end up getting off in front of the UWMC and walk about 15 min to the U-Village. I have tried to take the bus to the U-District and catch the 25 to get dropped off in front but then quickly learned that the 25 comes by the hour...and my appointment was in 30 min. Until I can find a better bus to get to the U-Village, I'm still sticking with 3 stars. read more

The prices here are higher than at the random Asian spots in town but they are much more organized (they actually honour appointments!) and seemed much cleaner. I opted for the InSpa Signature Manicure and thought the woman did a great job shaping my nails. Only downside is that it seems none of the manicure/pedicure stations are very close together so it wouldn't be a good spot for a group to go to? Overall, I would recommend InSpa and I plan to come check out some of their other services (facials, massages, etc.) soon! read more

I do think the service is great and I've already had several manicures and a facial and have been satisfied with the service. The space itself just seems to be lacking. It's a pretty tight spot and there really isn't much room between stations and rooms. I had an amazing signature facial done there but was surprised as to how small and kinda dingy the room was. The only other drawback for me is the lack of nail polish colors for a regular manicure. I know gel is the thing, but not all of us can do gel on our nails. I think if they spruced the place up a bit it could be a bit more appealing. read more

$56 for a Signature French pedicure, one would think this seemingly posh spa would offer its patrons a comfy massaging chair to sit in whilst getting their toes done, but no. I had to sit in an office rolly chair for my spendy pedicure, the whole time clenching my butt cheeks and flexing my supposed-to-be-relaxed calf muscles, desperately hoping that I wouldn't roll away, or worse, fall off the chair altogether. Additionally, there was no where for me to put my coat and purse, save for the floor. Not cool. I've had better, more relaxing pedicure experiences for half the cost at way less posh places, so I guess I've learned my lesson that you don't always get what you pay for. In this case, I paid to feel even more stressed than when I came in. Thanks for that, InSpa! Good thing about that no tipping policy, because I wouldn't have anyway. read more

After writing my previous review I was contacted by a member of your customer service team, Amanda. She offered to provide me with a complementary service and apologized for failing "in providing you with superior service from the time of your arrival through departure." With such quick response time and a nice note, for a moment it looked like you were trying to put the past behind you and move forward "In effort to provide superior service to our valued customers." But like an addict, once again you've fallen off the wagon and managed to out due yourself. After some hesitation and consideration I decided to take Amanda up on her offer. Why not give you another chance. After all, I have been a loyal customer since 2004 and referred many of my friends to you. OMG. I had a horrible horrible horrible experience here. I walked in based on all of the yelp reviews. As an avid yelper, I trust the system, but every once and a while it fails. This was a definite fail. I walked in for a normal clean up eyebrow wax. The girl and I talked and specifically said "clean up." She basically waxed most of my eye brows off - not to the point where I had to draw them in, but to the point that if I turned my head you would only see half of my eyebrow. I paid, walked out the door, saw my face in a window reflection and walked right back in. The girl at the front desk said they didn't look bad, but gave me my money back. I will never return and am currently waiting for the next 3 months for my eyebrows to grow back so that I can have someone actually clean them up. read more

A couple months back, I bought my wife a $100 certificate for InSpa at University Village. A couple weeks ago she made an appt. along with a friend to get facials at 6pm. I get home from work around 6:30 or so and there is a message on our answering machine that was left at 6:15pm. It's from InSpa and the message is "Hi. I saw you checked in at 6 for your facial but don't know where you went off to." Huh, I think? I finally get the story when my wife gets home. The person at InSpa took my wife back to one of the rooms shortly after 6pm. She then apparently forgot what room my wife was in, or got things mixed up in her head or something. My wife finally get's tired of waiting at 6:25 and goes up to the front desk. The person at the front desk says "Where have you been? I've been looking for you" as if my wife had done something wrong. My wife explains she was waiting in the room that she was led to. The front desk person then apologizes and says she will give my wife "extra time" for her treatment, but by this time there is nothing restful, relaxing or rejuvenating about this encounter. I consider it a complete waste of $100. We won't be going back and will spend our money elsewhere in the future. read more
