Kani Salad was first served to us, alongside with kimchi selections. Surprisingly, you can find a kimchi here, despite being a japanese resto that they are. Haha. Avin has an explanation for it, but I don't wanna bore you with that. The salad was fresh and the veggies were crisp, it had enough mayo that won't get you feel sated once you've had too many spoonfuls. The kimchi selection was spicy, it became a great time-out in between meals.
I'm a fan of Maki and compared to others, this one has crunchy strips on top. It was such a delighful blend - soft & crunchy- in my mouth. It was averagely-sized, though. I dunno with others, but the supposedly 'spicy' wasn't spicy at all. Prolly it was just me 'coz I appreciate spicy dishes.
Beef stew was a something ridiculously great. It had so much flavor in a cup! The soup was a variety of wagyu intestines and wagyu oxtail. I was expecting a miso soup (which most Japanese restos offer), but thanks to Sandaya, they made us try above norms.
I'm a self-confessed meat lover and I was immediately starstruck when the Premium set of assorted meats was served to us. To be honest, I kinda veered away from trying buffets/restos that let's you cook/grill your own meat. I'm such a bad cook, haha. More often than not, meats were not seasoned, too. I always ended up eating burned meats. (So much for paying in full, lol) But cheers to Sandaya, they've changed the way on how I look at these things. Premium set consisted of pork and japanese wagyu beef, that were all seasoned, marinated and cur into bite sizes. The good thing was, you can grill it the way you want it - ours were very tender. I was fortunate to be seated with my co-foodies who were pro-active in grilling our set. The meats were best eaten with the signature Sandaya sauce, their original recipe. I just hoped that we were advised that the sauce was meant to be mixed that way. Haha.
Bottomline, the Premium set was something I could greatly recommend to everybody. Give yourself a favor, try one today. read more
