Rare to see so many young people working somewhere they seem to enjoy. Highly recommend going here to do something different versus brunch or eating somewhere. Visited Sandbox VR for the first time with a group to celebrate my cousin's birthday. You can find Sandbox on the level LOA's entrance is located in the Interlock parking deck where you pay by the hour. Upon entry the staff had our group complete our waivers before going through an intro on how the experience works, dos and donts and splitting us up into groups on no more than 6 for the game. We were then given our equipment and assisted with set up. Once everyone was in their gear we started the game that was VERY immersive. It was a great experience with our groups and enjoyed. We loved the recap videos and stats we were sent after completing the games. Only feedback I have is given how loud it can get inside that it would be nice if staff were a bit louder or had a microphone for the groups when giving instructions. read more

Did not know this place existed until I saw a Facebook ad and I knew I had to go because I'm a big kid at heart. This was my first time ever experiencing a VR game. We did not make a reservation so when we got there, the next available game was 2 hours out. We didn't mind and that gave us time to walk around and enjoy the area which was such a vibe. Got back about 15 mins prior to our appointment for the Squid Games experience. Robert was kind and he helped us and explained how everything works. It was two of us and we were paired with two other people. The game lasted about 20-25 mins. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about this experience. The only con is it is a bit pricey but I feel it's well worth it. You get a free video at the end that is emailed to you. Great for large groups, parties, and date night. read more

We checked out Sandbox VR for the first time this past weekend and played Seekers of the Shard: Dragonfire. It was just the two of us, but it was still fun and gave both of us plenty to do (though I think it may have been easier with more people?). It definitely got quite hot as you're moving around wearing a vest and multiple sensors, but the game went by fairly quickly. It was a blast and we are planning to return to check out some of the other programs! read more

Some great moments and some terrible... The location is easy to locate and allowed us to walk-in and make a reservation within a few hours. The actual gameplay (Squid Games) was great minus a few tech issues (glitching, hearing in headphones etc.). I will say the setup was painful...I mean painful! The team was nice but we were assigned an employee (Dave) who just did not get "it". I think we repeated our names 10x, half the group didn't get vests until 10 minutes into the short game, and they did not address any issues we were having. Needless to say, not the first impression you want of an overpriced event. Personally, I won't be back given the cost ($76 per person) and the overall experience. read more

I enjoyed my time here for my friend's birthday, but I do have notes. We arrived for sign in around 5:45 pm. The reservation was at 6 and everyone in my group arrived on time. But we didn't play until 6:30pm. Tip: have the staff double check your arm and leg sensors before going in. Once we started playing there were a few in game glitches. My gun would disappear and shoot the wrong way. The chainsaw I had in my hand would stop working. Oh and it was hot, there were fans but they only helped when you were on that side of the field. This was a terrible experience from start to finish. This location has been unprofessional and continues to be unprofessional. Long story short, my party of five arrived on my birthday a few minutes late, due to traffic. We were barred entry. We had tried to move our reservation anyways several days in advance due to a friend not being able to make it and were put on hold for over thirty minutes. No one answered. When we spoke to customer service, they were extremely rude, kept citing company policy, and would not let us through. This was my birthday and it was disappointing to say the least. Then, I left a review on Google and got an email contact to reach out to. I spoke to Ryna who escalated the complaint to internal review to get my $50 back. Nope. They refused to give me the money back saying because we did not cancel on time we lost the money. It has nothing to do with cancellations! We were trying to move the appt well in advance and couldn't reach anyone! Extremely shady business practices and super rude staff. I would not come back here at all. My first time at this place was yesterday afternoon with my husband. He loves VR, so we had to check it out. Omg, it was amazing! The game we chose lasted about 30 mins and it gave me a fully body workout! Definitely great for date night. Great time here. Customer service could be improved - let guests know the rules upfront instead of right before the game; have an organized distribution system; help the entire group and not just one person etc. We had to ask to be walked through how to play the game but it turned out well in the end. Apparently the colors determine what order you pick your weapons in - I was pink and 5th to pick. It was fun interacting in the game with some players that have been there before and our group of newbies. From what I could see, there are sanitation protocols that are followed. It was a really good time playing the game. The length of time was great and the teamwork made the game even more fun. The recap at the end was hilarious. Eh. Good points and low points. The game is very hi tech and impressive. However, it is short. And we had technical issues and the staff was basically like meh. that sucks. My headphones only worked in one year and at a low volume. I brought it up multiple times and was more or less ignored. Another member had trouble with the headset staying put (and you weren't allowed to adjust it is what we were told. only staff can touch) and one member had it go out and need to be reset. I know it happens. But for such a pricey place you would start to expect great things. What a fun night! So cool! It was such a great experience! I was literally caught by some zombies in my game and I was scared for a moment or two! Ha! And I screamed! Hahahah. After being geared up you can fully interact with the environment and the group you came with in the virtual reality! You will feel when zombies touch you by vibrations! My mother in law scored the highest because she kept shooting the many rats on the ground! You also get to choose some really cool nicknames. Then they put together a video of everyone playing together to summarize your visit. I'm impressed with the space also. There are several rooms that can accommodate many large groups! Can't believe there's only one review and it has one star just because they were late to their appt and weren't allowed to play. THEY HAVE A STRICT 5 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD!! Now that that is out of the way, it was A LOT of fun, a very good and fun experience. We played one of the zombie games and had a great time, it was scary and included some bad words however it was a lot of fun. Bring comfortable shoes because you WILL be standing, moving a lot and sweating. Got my cardio in. The entrance is INSIDE of the parking garage. Only cons were the equipment needs some fixing. One of my hands was...off it looked like a zombie hand but it didn't effect the game play. Mid game a couple of our characters stopped working but we put our hands up as instructed and they paused the game, fixed it and we continued without any issues. read more

I'm very disappointed that the mgr knew I was almost in the door and then the turned us away rudely. We could not recoup our money that day and had to reschedule. So this is something I just popped up kind of recently and I've been dying to go. It was a really good time. We got there at the appropriate time but they had us waiting about 20 minutes later because there were people who were running late and then there was some mechanical issues as well. I mean that sucked but it's nobody's fault necessarily unless they just did not schedule very well and had people run over time. We got geared up and we got in the game and the game itself was fun. It was one of those scary zombie joints that you see a lot of virtual reality gamers do. You get to put on all the gear and you get to pick your guns and then you're in the game. The game kept messing up, which really kind of stopped the momentum of the fun, but I mean it's a machine, and machines sometimes break. Not a big deal. I still had a good time regardless though. Would I go back again? I sure absolutely would. They have about five other games to run and I would like to try at least another one. read more

Parking was plentiful and convenient with the attached parking garage. Go to level P to walk your way into Sandbox VR from the parking garage elevators. Prior to visiting, I'd recommend wearing breathable and unrestricted clothing since it's intended for you to move a bit during gameplay. Booked a reservation for Deadwood Valley for 5 today. Online booking was easy although you can also call ahead or walk-in to book available games. Upon entering, Nate guided my group through the preliminary tasks (waivers, where to sit afterwards, and attaching the movement trackers) before the room was set up as well as guidelines to ensure a satisfying and safe experience (how to play, how to signal a problem for him, properly fitting our headsets and vests) when we did enter our room. Fortunately, we're not completely brain damaged yet, so we followed along with his clear instructions well enough where there were no issues. The gameplay itself for Deadwood Valley is quite exhilarating. A fun mixture of hordes and "bosses" in changing settings keeps things moving and fun. I don't think there is enough of a horror element for *most* people to be afraid of, but there are potential jump scares if you're not looking at (so unaware of) the zombies charging towards your party. The player stats and included video are nice touches to wrap the fun up, and it seems that everyone got the videos sent straight to their email that they used for the waiver, so you don't need to manually forward it to each member. I'd definitely come back to enjoy their other themes like Squid Games or the fantasy adventure ones. Thanks to Nate for making our experience seamless and fun! read more

I didn't know what to expect when I came here. Let me tell you I had the time of my life. This place is definitely worth the price! Everything was organized and clean. I chose this place for date night with my boyfriend. We chose to play with other people and I'm happy we did. We meet some new friends and had a great time fighting off zombies. The game felt so real. I could feel when I was being attacked and when the animals were jumping on my back! At the end of the game they send you a video of the game you play. This is my 2nd visit, 3rd visit if you count the time they didn't let us in because some of our party was 10 mins late. Which is so ironic considering both times where we actually made it on time, we waited over 30 minutes each time to even be suited up. They make sure you're on time with the "strict 5 minute grace period" but they overbook these rooms so you have to sit in the back and wait before they even come tell you what to do. Literally 30 min wait the first time and almost 45 mins the second time. Next the equipment is poor. You can't hear thru the headsets at all. Half of the time my right leg bracelet malfunctioned and I played the game with one leg. This is after they couldn't even get us started because of malfunctions which he tried to blame on my shoe reflectors but I wore the same shoes the first time and didn't have that problem. My sons body glitched THE WHOLE ENTIRE GAME! He was shown bent over, doing splits, and all kinds of crazy things while he wasn't moving at all. All this happened in the middle of the game. Also, when the scores were shown at the end of the game, I was in last place. Not surprising considering I kept screaming out that my weapon was glitching and not working or visible for half the game. The first visit, our team had no clue what the actual mission was because it's next to impossible to hear anything in the headsets. Overall, I give it 2 stars for the concept. Everything else, including the attitude of the workers is trash. Especially the attitude of the workers! Will not go back again. My sons did enjoy, somewhat so that's the other reason for the other star. I would like to add that being that the entrance to this place is located INSIDE of a parking garage, they should allow more than 5 mins for a grace period. Locating this place was next to impossible. No one answers the phone, so don't bother calling if you are lost. So you're on your own trying to find it. A detail in the confirmation email would make all the difference. But no. They want you to be late. So they can cancel you and only issue you a voucher to come back, which expires after a certain time. Translation: they want to keep your money for nothing. Just be aware. Very aware when booking. You cannot be late but they can and will have you wait 30-45 mins for your turn, with no concessions made whatsoever. read more

But we had to take an elevator up to another floor and the entrance is literally in a parking garage. No clue how I would have known that if a security guard didn't help us. On to the staff... Whew! This place is ran by children. The manager is early 20s tops. That was very frustrating when it came to discussing a matter I was hoping to get resolved. My fiancé and I booked a time slot expecting it to just be us too. Somehow "they fucked up" which is what we were told, and we had to pair with a group of young boys and their mother. Highly disturbing at first, but the boys ended up being great teammates. The young lady assisting us was very nice and sweet, but used alot of profanity when speaking to co workers nearby. They all seemed to just be hanging out.. not working or being professional at all. The VR experience itself, TOP TIER! 10/10 there for sure. This was my first experience and we played Deadwood Valley. This game was intense lol The weapons and gear are really cool. I had the automatic pistols The effects look so real, the vibrations in the gear also make the experience more realistic. I'll definitely be returning and look forward to trying different games! The gaming lasts about 30 minutes and in my opinion that's just enough time lol it was a workout! How do I get a refund? My son and I went. The game glitched and half worked the entire time. If we looked left or right it was all black, only a small space was visible, lagged the entire time, could not be collabrated correctly, and the ball sensors were falling off through out the whole game. So let me just say we had a really great time! Everything was professional they made sure that everything was sanitized. The people who were in charge of giving us our tour were really great! The reason why I gave three stars is because I think that they were backed up on the times that people were supposed to be there for their reservation I'm not sure why that was. Maybe it was because it was the weekend. But it's understandable so that's not a big deal. The main reason that they got three stars is because in the middle of our game the equipment went out and it was out for a while before it came back up. This caused a delay in my gaming experience. Once it finally came back up the game was close to the end and I was a little bit sad that I didn't get the full experience because of this. Our host was great though he worked diligently to get it fixed and back up and running and he kept his cool the whole time. I want to say his name was Darius or Darian something like that. 3 starts is honestly being very generous and I'm only doing it because the VR experience here was really fun once we finally got into it. Key word here though: finally. We had a reservation at 3:15 for a group of 6 and made sure to be a little early because the website states that they have a strict 5 minute late policy so that rooms don't run behind. When you walk in there are kiosks where you can all sign your waivers, but then you kind of just have to wait around for an employee to acknowledge you. There's no main desk to check in at which was a little strange. After a few minutes of waiting an employee came over and told us that they were running about 45 minutes behind and asked did we want to stay and wait or reschedule. We asked them why it was running so far behind and they told us that it was because one of the cameras had malfunctioned that morning which shut everything down and put all the times behind. I totally understand that! VR technology has a lot of moving parts and they can't help technical difficulties from happening. However, they knew that the entire day was going to be behind that MORNING. NO attempt at contacting later parties during the day was made, so we had no idea it was behind until we got there. If they had reached out via email to let people know, we would maybe have liked to reschedule to another day, but our friends had already found a sitter for their baby, so by the time we got there we really couldn't reschedule and were forced to just wait. Those friends also had to explain to their sitter that they were going to be gone for longer than they thought because of scheduling issues no one let us know about. So the timetable of how it went was: reservation at 3:15, got taken back 30 minutes later to put on arm and ankle bands at 3:46, and then had to wait ANOTHER 40 minutes before we had someone come by and get our gamer tags/explain the experience at 4:26, and then ANOTHER 20 minutes before we actually got the VR gear and went into our room at 4:45. So it took an hour and a half from our reservation time to get to do anything, yet we couldn't be more than 5 minutes late. Doesn't really add up. There were some technical difficulties with one of our party member's gear at the beginning and halfway through our game so they had to pause it to make some fixes. What we didn't realize, though, is that those fixes took away from OUR time in the virtual reality. Our experience just cut off very abruptly and left us really confused. Was that the end of the story? Or did we not get it all? We tried asking one employee as we gave our gear back and they kind of just brushed the question off and didn't answer and then when we watched our trailer it had a whole scene without our players in it which answered our question: we didn't get to finish. We told the worker who was showing us our video "hey we didn't get to do that part it never let us finish" but again he didn't really offer an answer and just looked at us. Again, I understand technical difficulties happen but why would the time taken to fix your gear and get your player back in the game take away from the experience time you PAID for?? I read other reviews where they were offered extra playtime but neither employee we mentioned it to even acknowledged it. Overall it was pretty unorganized, but I really hope they can smooth some of their big bumps out because the experience itself is such a cool concept and being in the VR itself was enjoyable. Definitely don't schedule this on a day where you have any other plans and if you have to get a babysitter just be prepared to need them for more hours than you planned to. read more

We had to wait almost an hour for our reservation slot because y'all were "behind" even though we did our best to be on time due to your strict 5 min grace period. They offered nothing in return to the inconvenience. They forced us to stay in the building to wait for our turn because they don't have any way of reaching guests. It's 2023, most companies have this technology. After already inconveniencing us we couldn't even go to a bar in the building to have a drink because you all offer nothing else besides the game and some weird snacks. The bathrooms were filthy. There was no real escort after the game was over. We walked out and sat at the screen like we saw everyone else doing and no one approached us. I had to get someone's attention for them to reach out to the attendant that was in the room with us. His excuse was that he thought we left. How about telling us what to do once our equipment is off then you would know where we went. The game it self was different and fun even though it kept glitching. There needs some serious changes with this establishment. The only reason why I give 2 stars is because the VR is good but I'm not recommending this place to friends. read more

I arrived at the exact time my reservation was booked for and my husband went to find parking. He told me that my husband had 4 mins to get there or they were canceling our reservation because they have a 5 minute grace period.... SO BE THERE EARLY. this place is located on the P level right next to the Puttshack. Hopefully this helps. I really liked the experience. I actually got a good sweat in because you really feel immersed in the experience.We did the Deadwood Valley so if you don't mind killing zombies lol then this is for you.
