I was expecting a super low-budget experience but that was not it at all. I was so pleased at this theater that this will definitely be my go-to theater from now on. The place was so clean and fresh that I assumed they had just opened, but it seems they've been open for several years. I went on a Tuesday, and was thrilled at the $6 ticket. Popcorn was also super cheap. I think I paid $23 for ticket, popcorn and drink. A bargain! The popcorn was fresh and crisp. I gobbled it up. The seats were super comfy with no ripped seats. The only thing I didn't like was the handicapped seating (I needed it this particular day) was at the back of the theater. As a member of the short-girl society, it was a little challenging to see over the seats. The next time I go I won't need that seating, so I'll be fine, but I'd imagine someone who needed it might find it challenging as well.

NCG does free or super cheap kids' tickets during the summer, which is such a great deal--perfect for keeping little ones entertained without breaking the bank. The theater is always clean, the reclining seats are super comfy, and the unlimited popcorn and drinks are a big win (especially with kids who love refills). Even the bathrooms are clean, which is not always the case at movie theaters! If you're in the Brookhaven area, this is definitely a solid spot for an easy, fun movie night.

I usually go to Regal Atlantic Station or IPIC at Colony Square, but I'm definitely adding this spot to the list. The theatre was clean, ordering food was straightforward--kiosks, then pick up at the main bar. There's even a full bar on the right if you want a quick cocktail. The seats? Super plush recliners. They've upgraded well at this location. Since I'm in Buckhead Village, it's too convenient to ignore. The only snag is the parking at Phipps plaza--it's a maze. But with patience, you'll figure it out. Overall, I'll definitely be back--it was a solid movie experience.

My husband (who is the big film buff) tells me that the Laser format just means they are using laser projection instead of the normal bulbs, so it's little more vibrant. But still, we wanted to check it out. This AMC is located within Phipps Plaza, which is a high end mall, so the theater gets kept up pretty well. They have a little better concessions than normal AMC theaters I've been to also - and a full wall of candy and chips/snacks. But the best of all is that they have a Costa Coffee right in the concessions area! I have never had a frappe to sip on while watching a movie before, but I don't know how I'll go back to not having that now. Their seats are nice and large. Maybe even TOO large - it was a little difficult to get out to use the bathroom LOL The movie we saw was F1 and it was presented well with great sound, and the screen was newer in the theater we were in. This is a nice, newer-seeming theater (or maybe it's not new and they just keep it maintained very well?), with extra treats that not a lot of other AMC's have, and a theater-going experience that's a little different - so definitely check it out if those types of features interest you!

Once our server, Diamond, greeted us, we learned they were dealing with a few operational issues, including a limited food menu, a nonfunctioning call button, and unfortunately, no working AC in the theater. Despite the circumstances, Diamond was excellent. She was attentive, communicative, and kept us informed throughout the movie. Management also handled the situation well, coming into the theater to offer guests a full refund and a pass for another movie. We were also given the option to wait about 20 minutes and move to another auditorium showing the same film. I decided to stay and was still able to order a pepperoni pizza and some candy from the limited menu. The pizza was good, but that ranch deserves its own mention because it was surprisingly delicious. Technical issues happen, and I appreciated how both Diamond and management handled a less than ideal situation. iPic will definitely continue to be my theater of choice, and Diamond's service made a big difference in the overall experience.

For a theater to market itself as a premium experience, the service standards and condition of the theater fell short of expectations. To start, there was no air conditioning in the theater (specifically #6). It made it difficult to relax and enjoy the movie with no air. It would have been helpful to receive correspondence well before showtime about the condition of the theater, but we didn't find out until we arrived. After driving an hour and coordinating childcare, etc. this was a major inconvenience to our evening. The customer service was also seriously lacking. The call lights apparently didn't work so getting assistance was difficult. Also, there is a limited menu. A serious downgrade to what the menu used to be. Another major issue was being required to settle our tab before our food even arrived. That was extremely frustrating and made our entire experience feel rushed and poorly managed. Hopefully management is able to address these concerns and takes them seriously because this is not the level of service IPIC is known for. Otherwise, I don't see this location lasting long.

I like the old timey feel of the place. According to its Wikipedia entry, Tara opened in 1968 and the name is a nod to Gone with the Wind of course. It feels cozier since there are a mere four screens total. The small size also makes it a cinch to locate the bathrooms and your theater. Tara is owned by Regal so it's not truly independent but feels more indie since it's an artsy film house. There's a concession stand that serves ever-popular popcorn as well as beer. The seats were comfy enough, though towards the end, I was getting antsy but that might have to do more with the quality of the film. I was concerned about being able to see since this theater doesn't have stadium seating, but the slope of the floor was enough so that I could comfortably see over the two women in front of me. I didn't have any issues with the screen or sound. The other patrons were pretty well-behaved though cell phones loudly interrupted a couple of times, sigh. Since Tara is in a shopping center, parking isn't really much of an issue. There's a Publix and a couple of restaurants nearby too, like Hajime which my dental hygienist recently recommended to me. Next time I'm at Tara, I'll have to schedule my movie right so I can have ramen after!

It seems like there are some new employees, and the way I was treated made me extremely uncomfortable. One employee in particular, a heavy set white woman with short blonde slicked back hair and several piercings... was noticeably rude and unfriendly toward me. What bothered me even more was watching her immediately smile, become friendly, and happily help white customers, while giving me a completely different attitude. I don't like automatically assuming someone's intentions, but when you can clearly see the difference in how you're being treated compared with customers of another race, it feels discriminatory and is extremely upsetting. As a Black customer who has supported this theater multiple times, I should receive the same basic respect and customer service as everyone else. Also, the chairs seriously need some attention. Some of them are worn out and need to be repaired or replaced. For a movie theater where people are paying for a comfortable experience, the seating should definitely be maintained better. I really hope management addresses this because I actually enjoy this theater and would hate to stop coming because of the behavior of new staff. Every paying customer deserves to feel welcomed and respected regardless of their race.

It's a cool little cinema that the students are fortunate to have on their campus in downtown Atlanta. Paying what I did for a simple Amaretto Sour felt like highway robbery. Because of that, I don't see myself supporting the bar aspect of this establishment moving forward. As for the theaters, some of the seats could definitely use a facelift. Customer service at the concessions is also hit or miss. Thankfully, Benjamin was the one bright spot during today's visit, he provided the positive customer service experience that stood out. Overall, I'm on the fence about continuing to support this establishment. There are some things that need to be addressed if they want to keep customers coming back.
