This is a win or miss. We had a fabulous experience a few months back, so we decided to return. We always booked for the first session of the day (just as they open). We were so disappointed. All the things that used to be great were totally wrong this second time around: --the gear was broken, the sensory jacket didn't probably close. When we mentioned it they said nothing could be done and I had to deal with it. --the back was super loose and couldn't be tightened. Again, they told me that nothing could be done. These 2 issues weren't a problem last time and I didn't loose any weight. I am 5"5' and 120lb. --the VR head set were dirty. Like slimy with grease/sweat as if the gear hadn't been cleaned from the night before. It was so gross. --the lenses were also dirty--we had to ask for them to be cleaned. The attendant was talking to someone on the phone as he was giving us the gear. He was upset because he had to go to work when someone else was supposed to be there. He let us know by his conversation and his attitude (our entire stay) that he didn't want to be there. He was super rude. --the game glitched several times. At least 10 times. They even had to pause the game mid way to change our batteries (!). Weren't they supposed to be charged BEFORE we start playing. --when the system glitched, the attendant blamed it on us because we "didn't move in a certain direction". We went through the game before and never had a problem. --the weapon didn't work and sometimes it even disappeared. They refused to change it and didn't really care about game play. --when we raised our hand and said "pause", the attendant didn't even care or react. We had to lift our mask to check on the attendant who was on his phone the whole time and didn't pay attention to us at all. We had to scream "pause" to the top of our lungs. --there was a lag between the audio and communication was hard among members. --there was a lag between between the weapons being triggered and when they shot in the game. The weapon aim was off by 45 degrees!! --We didn't even get our score at the end. --In three words: this experience SUCKED (didn't even deserve 1 star) The good part about Sandbox: --our first experience was flawless (we did Deadwood mansion) --we chose Deadwood Valley as our second experience. Hi, I booked for the VR experience on Friday November 4th @ 7:45pm in the mission valley location. The game took about 15 minutes after the scheduled time to start because the equipment was faulty so they had to restart the entire system. Once we were fully in the "VR experience" we were stopped about 5 times throughout the game due to either the battery dying or because the game needed to be restarted. This was our first time there so our expectations were not super high but for the price point I definitely was expecting more. The staff wasn't really apologetic which also led me to believe this was not the first time something like this happens. We couldn't really immerse ourselves in the experience because every couple minutes we had to be stopped. Once we were done the staff gave us a 10% off coupon for the next time we wanted to go, but it's safe to say after this experience we will not be going back. I would like to request a full refund since the experience was not at all how we imagined it to be. read more

We had an amazing time at Sandbox VR! I went with my nephew, my daughter, and my brother, and we played the *Phobia* experience--it was absolutely worth it! The game was intense and immersive, and we were completely drawn into the action. A special shoutout to Arianna, who helped us throughout the experience. She was incredibly pleasant, patient, and thorough in explaining everything, making sure we felt comfortable--especially those of us experiencing VR for the first time. Took my wife for an anniversary gift to this location. We had SO MUCH FUN. :) We both love gaming, from super mario via NES classic to Fortnite on our PS4, but this was our first real experience with an immersive VR setup. Long story short, we loved it. Easy website for booking, comfy lobby to wait in, restrooms and food available. Also, the folks that helped us check in and who ran our game were helpful, courteous and friendly. Location is right across from Outback in Westfield Mission Valley mall, so parking was easy. Would definitely recommend this experience to others considering it. We were really excited to return to Sandbox VR for the second time, but unfortunately, the experience was a huge letdown--mostly due to poor hosting and technical issues. Our host, Min, was not helpful at all. He gave vague instructions, didn't set up our equipment properly, and seemed generally uninterested in making sure we were set up for success. During the game, everyone in our group experienced glitches--tracking issues, equipment malfunctions, and lag that made it hard to stay immersed. It was frustrating and completely took away from what could have been a fun and unique experience. read more

Wow this place was amazing! I found this place while walking in the mall and I'm glad I did! They were able to take us right then. The check in process was easy and the price was fair. Our guide got us all geared up and we were even able to create a team name and they took pics and videos of us in VR. We did the Curse of Davy Jones, it's a pirate one. Had me laughing the whole time! We definitely have to come back since they gave us those complimentary videos that I showed my friends and now they want to play! The staff made it so fun and the service was incredible! We will be back! read more
