I needed alterations to a dress shirt. It was very simple. I just needed the sides taken in to fit properly. For reference, I have a 42" chest and a 32" waist which is an athletic build. All my other dress shirts were taken in via darts and I was told if the shirts (for my build) are only taken in on the sides, it wouldn't be a clean look. Well, I can attest to this fact because this tailor did just that and even on a hanger, you can see what a poor job of tailoring it was. It was presented to me ironed and inside plastic. I was expecting for a fitting but they took my money and sent me on my way. I was very disappointed in the results. As tailors, they should know this simple alteration. The plus side is their price was fair (IF the alterations were done correctly) and they did get the alteration done in time as promised however, if I ever have the need for alterations, I will look elsewhere. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this tailoring company. I dropped off my Juicy Couture jackets to have the zippers replaced, and I was assured by the woman working there that it would be no problem and finished in a week for around $120 (which is inane for a zipper replacement). I came in the day before my event to pick them up, only to find out that they had been sitting there untouched for a week because they "couldn't find a zipper." Instead of notifying me so I could take them elsewhere, they just let my jackets sit there. When I pointed out that zippers are readily available at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels--and that they should have at least called me--one of the workers immediately got defensive, raised his voice, and told me if I had a problem, I should go somewhere else. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. If you need something done on time and professionally, I would not trust this place. I looked on Amazon and they had 100+ zipper options. Solid Five stars for a small locally owned tailor and dry cleaning for your alterations. We used them to do some alterations, including for my daughter's bachelorette dress...they took the items they could, and immediately let us know the ones that were too complex/time consuming for them. It turned out well, being delivered on-time. I came to this local business to alter my suit, and I am glad I found this place. They had me try it on and stand on the platform. First, the tailor measured the length of the pants and suit. Then, he asked if I wanted a standard cut or something higher to show my ankle, which seems to be the trend for tall people. Unfortunately, I do not have that body type, so I went with the normal cut. The suit took about a week to complete, and they did a fantastic job. Sandoval also creates tailored suits, which require craftsmanship and attention to detail. The price was reasonable, and they accept credit cards. Sandoval Tailoring came to my rescue on a couple gowns I needed hemmed. The first one was for a purple sequined dress with a mermaid train. I was a little worried how they would do on this one as the bottom was not a straight cut. However, when they had me try on the dress with heels, they knew just where to pin it and I could tell by their calmness that they knew what they're doing. They've been in business for about 50 years, so they should! The second dress was a champagne gown with a sequined design as well. Since they did an exceptional job on my first dress, I knew this one would be a cinch for them. Sure enough, they hemmed the dress at just the right length and I couldn't be happier. Very impressed by the level of professionalism and quality of work done by the owner Raul. Fun fact I took my project to another Tailor before going to Raul, she had 40 years of experience ! She told me she could not fix the zipper I needed fixed. However, Raul was able to fix the zipper without any hesitation. To my disappointment I bought the wrong zipper and I didn't work out. The best tailor in Long Beach. My husband and I have had several garments altered at Sandoval, and are consistently impressed by the quality of work and service. We have brought in items ranging from a brand new Gucci suit to a $10 Fashion Nova dress, and are always treated with the same respect and care. The shop is quite small, but has changing rooms and a large full length mirror for fittings. Prices and turnaround times are reasonable, and they accept all major credit cards. I had purchased a complete tuxedo from a major store, and considered having the store tailor do the alterations. But I had second thoughts about department store customer service these days. Since I was attending a black-tie event in Beverly Hills, I thought it was wise to go to a professional tailor to complete the look. Although initially I thought not much needed to be altered,(what did I know?) he showed me how taking in excess material in the back of the jacket and shirt would make a huge difference, along with shortening the pants break and the jacket cuffs. This is shocking for me to be so disappointed with my last visit here. I've been going here for 3 years and love working with the oldest gentleman named Juan. The owner is who I dealt with this time. I do not have any complaints about his friendliness or being charged $200 to hem up 10 plain white IKEA curtain panels at $20 each. I love helping keep small businesses running in my city so prices usually aren't a big factor for me. And honestly I will return to this business again in hopes I get the service I've always received before this last visit. The 5 stars dropped to 3 this time bec they had the curtains for a week and when I hung them I noticed the threading used on half of the panels was different colors. Some burgundy or maroon and some blue. After hanging them all up it is very obvious that they were not all cut to the length I gave. I then thought 'well, maybe it's the floor' so I literally measured every single panel and all of the ones that do not hang properly are not the correct length. I'm thinking that half of the panels were done by one person and the other half by another person. Unfortunately, I was not able to take them back to be corrected bec I had tenants moving in a couple of days later and I provide new curtains. I wish they would have taken more care with the half that got colored thread instead of white and wrong length bec they look sloppy now. read more

Small shop located on 7th street. I love the fact that it specializes in tailoring only. I have had the length and width of pants altered, as well as the width and length of shirts, including the sleeves. All have been completed in a professional manner. I always try everything on prior to and after having it altered. The tailor has been honest in telling me whether something looks good or needs a bit more altering. Something I appreciate very much. Can be a bit pricey, but I'll pay for quality work. The last two shirts that I picked up had previously been altered at a different location and had to be redone by this tailor. read more

I came here because of the many positive reviews. My suit was damaged because a piece the size of a grain of rice was torn out. Someone suggested reweaving so I brought it here. I also asked for a minor alteration. When they gave it back it was worse looking than when I dropped it off and the small area was now huge sewed in patch. Maybe I was naive but when someone gives you a $400 suit to repair I would assume both parties understand it can't look like a pair of patched up blue jeans. If they couldnt repair it they should have just called me. Never tried it on so not sure how the other work was. I just gave the suit away. read more
