I liked her! Yes she spoke quickly but, hell, so do I! Doesn't mean she's rushing you. It just means she talks quickly. Don't read into that people! The doctor listened to my concerns (hormonal acne around my time of the month), gave me options and explained each one. Then she gave me samples so I could decide which would be better for me. We even talked about my visit to another doctor for hair loss issues. I was not hushed. I was not rushed. Green eggs and ham. And for those of you who gave her 1 star because she's not accepting new clients - shame on you. This is her livelihood and she cares enough to not dilute her quality of service by taking on too many clients unlike other doctors who just care about volume of clients for more money. I was really hoping to have the same raving experience with Dr. Yeh as I read on Yelp, but unfortunately, I left a bit confused and disappointed. This visit happened about a year ago, so I can also go over the long term affects. I went for three things: 1) A skin/body check for my moles. I am very fair skinned, have many moles (old and new), and have melanoma in the family so I wanted to get them all checked out. 2) Mysterious small growth on my nose. I had no idea what it was, it's not a wart or a pimple, but it's been on my nose for months and I want it gone! 3) My acne, which has been pretty bad since the 5th grade, I'm now 23. Overall, the whole thing felt very rushed. My mother has had body checks before, and they're supposed to strip you down to your undies, check every mole, look between your toes, ect. It's supposed to be very thorough to make sure you don't have the beginnings of cancer. But when I mentioned the body check, she had me only remove one leg from my pants, checked only a few, and said that the ones she looked at were normal and healthy. Ummm...but what about the one's you haven't seen, that are still under my clothes? What if I have cancer brewing there! If I didn't mention the giant one I have on my stomach, she never would've checked it. When it came to the growth on my nose, she thought it was a pimple. I insisted that it wasn't since it was on my face for months and didn't hurt. I've had acne for more than half of life, I know my damn pimples. She tried popping it anyways, and after a few minutes of painful squeezing and nothing happening, she finally decided it wasn't a pimple. She finally fried it off with some heat gun and after a few days, it area healed and my nose was back to normal. She had no idea what it was. A few months later though, it started growing back! I look like a witch again. It's back to it's full glory a year later. I still have no idea what it is, nor did this dermatologist, which is scary. In terms of my acne, she prescribed Tazorac which has worked for me before in the past, and Aczone. I feel like I need a stronger prescription of Tazorc, she gave me the lowest even though I told her I was on higher strengths. After a year, my acne is ok, under control, but no way from a clear complexion. I still get the occasional large painful pimple, whiteheads, and still a lot of blackheads. My face is better than it was in high school, but for the amount of money these medications cost, I should have perfect skin. My appointment was also supposed to be covered completely by my insurance, since beforehand I confirmed that Dr. Yeh was in network. When I got the bill, they only hacked off $30. I never had a billing issue with my old dermatologist on the east coast. I don't know if this was a mistake on their billing or my insurance, but I'm a full time student, part time employed with 2 jobs, I don't have time to be on the phone for hours with my know nothing crappy insurance. On a more positive note, she gave me coupons for my medication, which helped but they were still expensive. She also gave me a handful of samples since she knew they were costly, and told me to come back if I needed more. I love getting samples, and I know I could of gone back for more, but my actual appointment turned me off so much I didn't want to go back. She was friendly, but definitely rushed. At first I left confused since everyone seemed to love her, and I didn't have such a great visit. I tried to schedule an appointment for a botox injection for my Mother. She has a facial nerve tick that drives her crazy. Unfortunately, this doctor does not use botox for the reason it was created. She only does it for esthetics. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. They told me to schedule with a neurologist, who do not typically stock botox. read more

Not sure how I feel about Dr. Yeh. She spoke & answered my questions really quickly and I'm not sure if she was trying to rush me out of there or she's just like that. Also she REALLY tried to talk me into taking Accutane, but I don't think my acne is severe enough to go there yet. I ended up getting antibiotics, that's supposed to work in 4-6 weeks; will report back when I visit her again. She gave me samples of Cerave cream and I purchased a SkinCeuticals tinted sunscreen Edit: the antibiotics did work for my acne and I am now on a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment. Went in for a peel once but probably won't visit often unless I need to read more

I have found my skin savior, and i am truly grateful to find her. The biggest problem i ever had about my skin is eczema. It developed on my hands, where i had to constantly expose my condition to all sorts of damaging elements. I sought for help from my primary care physician, but the prescribed topical medicine wasn't strong enough to control or heal the scaly open wounds caused by my eczema. when i say my eczema was bad, i mean REALLY BAD. during my retail working days, customers would constantly examine my hands and suggest their methods of care, yet nothing seemed to work. so with that said, i've literally tried it all, from Chinese medicine, to over the counter creams, to prescribed creams, and to natural substances like aloe vera. my friend highly suggested Dr. Yeh to be my new dermatologist, and of course, i waited for her to accept new patients again. i am extremely glad i did not settle for some random doctor just because Dr. Yeh was not available. She prescribed a topical cream called VANOS, and it worked wonders! after a week, i noticed a significant change in my skin, where it started to repair and look normal again. it's been 11 years since the last time my hands looked normal without eczema, so i felt this was an ultimate breakthrough for my skin. on top of that, without insurance, the medicine cost nearly $600, but with insurance it was around $120. Dr. Yeh supplied me with a coupon that gave me a free trial of the medicine for free. i basically got the regular size tube of cream, without having to pay a dime. however this may vary with what type of insurance you have. Dr. Yeh bedside manners are okay. she does seem to be in a bit of a rush, but she is really sweet and easy to talk to. i mean, if she can help heal the pain i've endured all my teen life, i definitely do not mind the slight rush. My experience with Dr. Yeh was probably the easiest and most comfortable doctor's visit I had as a new patient. After about a month of waiting, I fnally went in today for my appointment. As a new patient, I was expecting to fill out a ton of paperwork, so I arrived at my appointment a little early. It was very refreshing to find that all I needed to do was sign-in and fill out ONE sheet of general information (which took no more than 5 minutes). As I returned my paperwork, the receptionist was ready to take me back into the room. My waiting time was close to nothing... BONUS! She told me that Dr. Yeh would be there in a few minutes - it was more like A MINUTE - and she greeted me with a very welcoming vibe. I really liked her energy as she walked into the room. I felt very comfortable and at ease telling her my issue. She was very acknowledgeable and knew exactly what I had without hesitation. It was good to know that the rash/skin discoloration I had was very common in people. I really thought I had vitiligo because of the significantly lighter color the spots were. Luckily, it wasn't that.. PHEW! As someone that has individual insurance, I liked that she was cost conscious about the drugs that she prescribed me. For those that are in my situation, you know how expensive brand name presciptions are. She also gave me OTC remedies and recommended that I rub Selsun Blue or Head & Shoulders shampoo on the affected areas. WEIRD, right? But she said those shampoos contain a certain ingredient that help prevent a recurrence. I've been seeing Dr. Yeh for a while now based on a referral from my physician. By far, one of the best dermatologists I've ever visited. She talks fast, but I do too - so it wasn't a problem for me. She gets straight to the point, NEVER tries to sell me on expensive and unnecessary products - and always recommends inexpensive versions of products I ask about, gives tons of samples or lets me know when they will have a sale or have deeply discounted coupons available to save me money. She does take new patients based on referrals though - something that is totally not uncommon in the medical field and new doctors. It's true that her office is booked up but that's just a sign of a good doctor!!! I've worked at a doctor's office who wasn't really good at all but she would tell her front staff to never tell patients they have blocks of open slots available (and there were tons of them) and to only give patients 1 or 2 time slot options to make it look like she was that busy. It was ridiculous and shady, but she was just trying to make her services look to be "in demand." Clearly, not taking new patients and only taking referrals is not uncommon practice for actual in demand doctors. read more

I brought my son here, actually a few times now. He has had serious exczyma since childhood, and I swear - she is Good!. I've taken my son to see...3 or 4 other dermatologists at least, she is hands-down the best. Moreover, her treatment program - works. Obviously I can't speak for other skin conditions, but my son's uncontrollable, almost debilitating at times exczyma, is well under control right now. Clearly to me, she is on the forefront of her speciality and what are the new treatments, meanwhile she is caring, and she's just good at her craft. I went to Doctor Yeh because everyone tells me that once you hit 50 something you should get a yearly checkup, especially if your like me and have spent many years enjoying our wonderful sunshine. Yeah, as you would expect we talked about boring stuff like hats and sunscreen, but she also gave me a thorough examination and took care of a couple minor blemishes right there on the spot. She also explained in detail things to look for, how to continue enjoying the sun's rays, and general skin health. Good doctor, friendly staff, and very convenient location (for me anyway.) Dr Yeh is one of the best dermatologists I've been to - and I've been to plenty. Dr Yeh is young, she's energetic, she's super friendly. She cares about fixing the problem. I didn't get the, "try this, come back in six months" fob off I got from the 173 other derms I've seen in my life. She made a place in her calendar for me every month - I was in there getting a peel, a little injection if needed, tweaking the topical prescrips. As a result of such dedicated maintenance, my skin was better than it'd been in a long while (though not truly great) and I was finally feeling like I'd found a doctor who gave a crap about her patients But that "not truly great" part? It couldn't be helped. The creams and antibiotics were making things better, but better was relative. The skin was still kinda sucking. What I really wanted was to use isotretinoin. I'd had it years ago and it had been a miracle. As my skin problems continued to rage through my late teens and early twenties, I'd tried and tried to find a derm who would put me back on it. But honestly, it's dang hard to get a (middle-aged white male) doc to prescribe you isotretinoin when you're a woman of child-bearing age. The bias is maddening. Enter Dr Yeh - who had no problem cheerfully saying, "You know, the stuff we've used so far isn't working as well as it ought. How about Accutane?" Amazing - like she actually trusted me to be responsible for my own body and make good decisions for myself. You don't know how rare it is for a female patient to be treated that way when isotretinoin is on the table. For that, Dr Yeh is pure gold. What everyone else is saying about her is true too: she's generous about trying to save you money. During the course of my treatment I went off insurance, and she and her staff went out of their way to help me make a plan to get the care I needed in a way that wouldn't break me. Went to Dr. Yeh for the first time in late April. Had to wait 1 month to see her. It appears that her office is shared with her husband's (internal medicine?) practice - or at least some other doctor by the name of Yeh. This could be why other reviewers said they've had confusing experiences when calling. I think Dr. Yeh has a couple of receptionists because I've spoken to two women and had very different experiences. One hung up on me, and the other was very accomodating in getting me scheduled and answering my insurance questions. Dr. Yeh is obviously very qualified and knowledgeable in her field. But be prepared - she talks FAST. She'll probably give you a TON of different solutions to your symptoms because she wants to provide lots of options. She is very understanding and empathetic with patients needs/desires for treatment, and she gives the facts straight. But sometimes its hard to keep up with everything she's saying, especially if she's describing a regime of treatment alternatives and you're trying to write down all the steps. Google maps gets confused on N. Winchester, so don't rely on it for directions. Her office is actually closer to Valley Fair than Google thinks. read more

My daughter consulted with her a few times for acne. Every time she did a peel which was too strong. The last one was so strong, my daughter was in pain for a few days. Dr. Yeh was very thorough and offered multiple solutions for my Rosacea. She is very knowledgeable, and update to date on recent research and clinical trials. I have been to two other dermatologists before and I felt like they just wanted to get me out the door as soon as I walked in, without actually helping me find a solution. I came to see Dr. Yeh for my eczema, which had flared up immensely over the winter and lasted throughout the spring. This was not my first time to a derm's office so I knew that the wait for an appointment would be about 2 weeks, which is the same amount of time I have to wait for every dermatologist I've ever been to. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Dr. Yeh. She definitely talks very fast so be prepared to take notes if you need! Although she talked fast, I felt that she still listened to me quite thoroughly as I did ask a lot of questions. I also made sure to repeat her answers out loud just to make sure I got everything correctly and she was kind enough to listen and reiterate her answers if needed. There was definitely a sense of hurriedness during the appointment so that's why I made sure to repeat everything. But I felt like because I took the time to make sure I got everything I needed, she responded the same way and I didn't feel rushed. I genuinely feel that it's her personality to talk fast and be kind of jittery and hyper, and not intended to rush you at all. For the follow up appointment, I did have to wait another 2 weeks, which during that time, my eczema had healed significantly. Knowing that things can change quickly within such a big time frame, I took pictures almost everyday of my eczema and I think it definitely helped in the follow up appointment. I felt that at least I had proof of what happened and she was able to confirm that it was eczema, albeit a weird case of it. So for those of you who have to wait the 2 weeks, I know it's a hassle but perhaps taking pictures or keeping a diary of what goes on could help in your appointment with Dr. Yeh. Another bonus: I also mentioned that I did not want to use steroid creams and she honored that. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Yeh for a while now and have been getting monthly facials that include a TCA 15% peel. My skin has NEVER looked better. The esthetician Lani is super nice, very gentle and knows her stuff. Dr. Yeh is always available for questions and she happily gives me samples of products and prescriptions to see if they work before I fork over any $. Any rebates she has are also passed on. They carry the SkinCeuticals products but I haven't tried very many of them. read more

Dr. Yeh is definitely the best dermatologist I've been to. She treated and helped my husband and I with skin problems that other dermatologists had given up on. I have been struggling with an intense hyperpigmentation problem for the past couple years that two other (Kaiser) dermatologists had given up on but she actually managed to have it diagnosed with the help of Stanford Dermatology clinic. It really meant a lot to me that she cared enough to find out what it was and try to find a treatment route even though there isn't one out there. She goes out of her way to find solutions and sometimes she can be a little pill/cream-happy, throwing coupons and prescriptions at you but she's very good about letting you decide if you actually want to take them or not. Appointments can be hard, especially for first timers but a lot of times stuff opens up randomly and the secretaries will fit you in. She's a great dermatologist and I'd recommend her whole heartedly! read more

Awesome. Quick and straight to the point. I came here w my bf (I am his PR person too!). And when I thought it was just a "meet and greet" - she got down and dirty and started zapping away at my bf's troubled spots!!! AWESOME! Most doctors that I've seen usually do a check-up and schedule you for the "work" on the next visit. Not Sandra! Like I said... she got down to the nitty gritty. I loved it! My daughter and I use to be patients of Dr. Yeh but since our insurance plan changed, we are unfortunately no longer able to see her. My daughter had an acne issue and Dr. Yeh was able to clear her up! She was also able to remove a scar that really bothered me on myself. Dr. Yeh is a great dermatologist. She is very friendly, knowledgeable, and is easy to talk to about any skin issues you have. As Lily, Justine and others have noted, she does talk fast - so pay attention! I learned a lot about my skin from my appointment with her. The whole transaction with my insurance went through smoothly with my insurance. She's booked pretty solid, so you'll probably need to call in advance a 2-3 weeks to get an appointment. When i first moved to SJ, I was breaking up like nobody's business - she arranged for a chemical peel facial and after 3 treatments, my face was clear! I occasionally have to go back for more facials, esp when I have been travelling for a bit, and they are usually booked up which gets annoying but it does mean they r good! I have seen Dr. Yeh for over 4 years now and I can tell you that she is the most caring, animated, and bubbly woman ever! I've been with her for so long because: 1. She gives away free samples every time you visit her. Basically, I don't have to fulfill my prescription because she gives you a bunch of medication that takes a long time to use. And once you're done with it, you're up for your next appointment. 2. If you do need more medication, she'll give you rebates which, in most cases, would cover your entire co-pay. It's because of her that I always look at the manufacturer's web site first for rebates before getting my prescription filled because 9 out of 10 times, they will have a rebate for your prescription. 3. I never make an appointment in advance because my acne out breaks are sporadic at times. And when I know that big pimple is starting to come out, I call her office and say I need an appointment ASAP and they are always willing to accommodate. I think that is one of the reasons why some people have to wait is because it's me that is begging to be fit in. Check her out! She is the best doctor of dermatology ever! Went to see Doctor Yeh today. Normally I hate doctors office visits, everything about them sucks. I considered not going and saving myself the trouble. However I had a great experience here. The office was in a great location, door was open, nice and sunny and the receptionist greeted me with a friendly smile. I only had to fill out one form as a new client. Dr. Yeh was extremely friendly and professional. I used to hate doctors visits but my mind is now changed. Well at least for this doctor. :) Btw when you read negative reviews from someone in all caps I want you to actually think about that person. Was their negative experience because of the provider or because that person sucks? Haters gon hate. read more

I came to Yelp hoping to find a good dermatologist close to my house and was so excited to see that Dr Yeh seemed to fit the bill on both counts. The good reviews are awesome and encouraging, and I noted the bad reviews seemed sporadic and only related to the inability to get an appointment. I decided to give it a try, thinking maybe I'd be able to get in like so many folks here seemed to have. Sadly, that was not the case. My experience was exactly the same as the other folks who reported a problem. The person answering Dr Yeh's phones could not have been less interested in talking to me, and informed me that Dr Yeh is not taking new patients. I asked if she had let the insurance companies know that, because they were showing that she WOULD take new patients. The receptionist said, no, she hadn't told the insurance companies that because it was only temporary and the doctor would take new patients again in May. I asked if I could make an appointment for May, then. She said, no, I'd have to call back then to even set up an appointment. I asked her is they were aware of the fact that this policy was earning them several negative reviews on Yelp. She just said "Okay." I'll never understand doctors who hire folks for their front desk who are so horrible at interacting with the public. Don't they realize how badly it reflects on them? Even if Dr Yeh is as awesome as so many people say she is, the fact that she's okay with her receptionist treating people this way does not speak well to the level of respect she has for her patients. Honestly, if you're not going to take new patients, tell the insurance companies so people can stop wasting their time. And hire someone who can talk on the phone with even a modicum of warmth instead of like I'm boring her and interrupting her soap opera. WHATEVER! This review has been long over due. In any case - I have no idea who writes all this "wonderful" reviews here - probably Dr. Yeh family members. THE ONLY REASON I picked this doctor are the reviews here, on Yelp. I had booked an appointment there for myself and my mother as well. I had insurance. My Mom chipped off $165 (+/- $10) cash for the appointment. Both mine and my mother's appointments were EXTREMELY RUSHED and impersonal. I can not stress enough how RUSHED we were. I felt like we were on some sort of "check-n-go" conveyor. Doctor spoke so fast I could only catch small pieces of info - which was all generic and nothing new about my condition. It's like when you go to a general doctor and all you hear him say is "drink plenty of water and exercise regularly - it's good for you!" SERIOUSLY! I am still fuming because it took a LONG time to wait for the appointment in the first place. And when it was actually THE DAY - it felt like she could not wait to get rid of us and ever question I asked was either rushed. She was not even trying to hide it - the over pressing fact of being "out of time" from the very beginning of the appointment. Seems that they care more about QUANTITY NOT QUALITY at that office, which may explain such polarity in the reviews here. read more

After reading a reviews on Dr. Sandra Yeh, I called and tried to make an appointment for my sudden breakout rashes on my face. 5 Stars! I will definitely be referring my friends & family here. I have psoriasis and have been misdiagnosed by my pcp and other dermatologists as having seborrheic dermatitis. Even thought Dr. Yeh was not covered under my insurance, I have no regrets about paying out of pocket at all. I had a 1pm appt and was in and out and pulling out of the parking lot a 1:45pm! She listened to me, gave me her professional opinion & prescription and valued my time, which is all that I ask of a doctor. The prescriptions have been working great and I really appreciated the free samples. read more
