I took my kids here a couple weeks ago and finally getting around to writing this, our experience was terrible. We got the deviled egg flight, filling was watery and falling out of the egg. Server had zero personality or smile. My son ordered chicken tenders, they were small, over cooked and under seasoned. Seriously, they were so overcooked it was like shoe leather. Stopped here for lunch after hearing several good reviews. First impression when you walked in the door was a smell of sewage that smacked you in the face. Not sure what went wrong there today but it was strong enough we ate outside. Tried the Hoosier Daddy (ha!) sandwich and it mediocre at best, pretty bland. It has been a minute since I had eaten here. I had family up from Kansas City and thought this would be a fun unique place to have lunch. I had never been disappointed in the past. I ordered the OOL LA LA and so did my sister. She did not complain but I knew this was not the quality I was expecting. One slice of thin turkey and I'm not sure there was even any brie cheese in it. The sandwich bar may be one of my favorite restaurants in Janesville! I think the Jolene is my favorite... but then I had the chicken salad with potato chips on it... and then they put out the meatloaf with house made ketchup.... And then I tried the not a tuna melt tuna melt... and they had this cinco de mayo special one time with this incredible black bean puree.... Oh and the fries with that garlic aioli dipping sauce! And chase it down with an amazing drink! Get all of it! You won't be disappointed. read more

Nice interior. Our server/bar tender was very friendly and answered questions easily. He was also attentive and checked back in regularly. The cocktail I had was good and well balanced. My dinner buddy had the fish fry and I had the Jolene sandwich. The fish fry looked really tasty. Their french fries are really good. Order some fries, just do it. I had the chicken mole torta special, was good but bread was a little dense/dry, would have preferred it toasted like most tortas come instead of just plain, that was the only thing I think could have made it better. Buddy had the turkey triple and loved it. We both agreed the fries were some of the best we ever had, cooked and salted perfectly and that aioli was sooo good, should jar and sell it. Prices are a little higher but you're paying for good quality ingredients prepared well, Great service too, woman working was very nice and everything came quick! OMG! Far and away the two best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Twice I have visited the Sandwich Bar while traveling and I will stop again when coming through or anywhere near Janesville. The sandwich combinations are unique and force you out of your comfort zone. Being a creature of habit I fell like I eat the same thing over and over but not here. Small menu of gourmet sandwiches with combinations of flavors, fresh ingredients and ample servings complimented with attentive service and a bright atmosphere. Absolutely 5 stars! read more

Delicious food and fast service! Went for lunch on a busy Tuesday afternoon... our order was quickly brought over to our table. The meatloaf and Jolene sandwiches were delicious. The fries were super tasty and that Parmesan aioli is something to dream about. Shared two sandwiches and fries amongst three not-starving adults and one toddler... perfect amount of food. We stopped in here before a show at the Janesville Performing Arts Center. It's a very cute, clean small sandwich shop with great service. We ordered the special, which was the Friday Fish Fry. We both wished we had ordered a sandwich. The fish fry was expensive at $22.00 each, and althought it was all-you-can-eat we didn't order anything more than the initial serving. Fried white fish, french fries that were pre-seasoned too salty, a small serving of cole slaw. The overall flavor for the meal was so-so. We both thought the order was way over priced. read more

We saw this restaurant on a PBS show. We were so excited after seeing it on the show we drove almost 2 hours for lunch. This restaurant did not disappoint, excellent!!!!! There's no reason to tell you what we had and what was good, because everything was excellent. I wished I lived closer so I can try everything on the menu. We met the owner at Lark market next-door and that was a wonderful place to pick up some tin fish and bourbon. You must try. read more

I stopped in to eat during the lunch rush, and they only had one waiter working....but unless you were paying attention, you wouldn't have even noticed! Service was very efficient and friendly, and food was served quickly. My sandwich (It's Not A Tuna Melt) was delicious, and from what I could tell, the other diners in the restaurant were all enjoying their meals as well. I saw people even stop the waiter before they left to thank him for a job well done! The restaurant is small and laid back with really cool murals on the walls. There's even a table with board games to encourage people to stay and hang out a while. The beers on tap could use a little work, but the rest of my experience was flawless. Wasn't much on the menu for me, but my less picky companions really liked it. The only vegetarian options is a jackfruit sandwich, and I'm not a fan of jackfruit at all, although I had one bite of their sandwich and it wasn't the worst jackfruit I've had. Another of my compatriots had a chicken sandwich, they seemed satisfied with it. None of the sandwiches come with a side. As for me, all I had was a side. I ordered fries. As a picky eater and a vegetarian, I'm used to a lot of "I'll just have a salad" "chips and salsa" "fries" but honestly these were some of the best fries I've had in a long time, and they gave me quite a bit of them!! I wound up sharing with my three dining partners who were all trying sandwiches with no sides, and they all really enjoyed the fries as well, and commented as to how great they were. I personally will not come back, as the fries alone aren't enough of a dish to bring myself back a second time to a location. Especially when there's nothing else there that I really want to eat. But I'm glad everyone else enjoyed it a little bit more, and our server was very kind, and cute read more

Food was not good at all. Family of 5 and we all had something different from menu. I had the GIUSEPPE and it was like a 6" subway italian with half the meat on a stale bun and twice as expensive. Wife had salad and they forgot a fork to eat it with... kind of important for takeout. Then there was the Cevapi... when they say charred they mean ash. It was inedible. read more
