I was very disappointed with my one and only visit. I was in town for a baseball tournament and was excited about the only place within 25 miles what had vegan options. I ordered the falafel wrap. It was awful. There was no hummus as there was supposed to be which made it very dry (falafel is already pretty dry so it needs something more typically). Then the falafel tasted freezer burnt and the wrap itself was DRY and way over cooked. So dry it instantly fell apart all over my lap. I ended throwing most of my expensive wrap away. I don't like posting bad reviews without giving the business an opportunity to make it right. I couldn't go back due to a time constraint so I sent a message right away. I waited about 36 hours and have not heard back. read more

Reasons for giving four stars: I have found it soooo so difficult to find any good local places to dine at while in Janesville. It's actually very unfamiliar to me how there could be so few options, because Janesville isn't exactly the tiniest place on the map. I've visited this sandwich shop twice in the past week and intend to do so again at least once before I leave at the end of the week. The first time I went, I ordered a chicken/basil/tomato/cheese panini. It was really good! The price was completely fair for an acceptability sized panini. I also tried their iced chai latte which was also pleasant. This most recent time, I tried their salad with chicken in it. Aside from the fact that I wish the portion size was larger and that they could have added more vegetables, the chicken was good and it was a satisfying salad. It's a quant shop with some friendly faces that will take good care of you. It has never been a long wait to order my food nor to wait for it to be made. Next time I go back I'm definitely going for another panini. read more

The food was good (although messy) you could tell it was fresh. The girls taking my order we're all very sweet- they each checked up on me at least once while I was eating to ask if I needed anything. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect for a small sandwich shop. It's pretty quiet good for a family. I got a cbr (chicken bacon ranch) wrap. All the ranch fell to the bottom and dripped on me before the entire wrap fell apart- so make sure you get lots of napkins. I also got a brownie which was homemade and very soft. I got a sandwich there on a Sunday afternoon and yikes stripes. Look I grew up in Wisconsin and all jokes aside about how my people only know how to flavor things with mayonnaise, this chicken artichoke sandwich was literally some unseasoned Tyson chicken strips with like half a cup of mayonnaise. There were some artichoke bits and what could've been spinach? in the mayonnaise, but there was so much mayonnaise. It was just a mouthful of mayonnaise. I ate it in a reasonably quick timeframe, trying to wipe out and squeeze out as much of the mayonnaise as possible but that also got rid of any of the artichokes a.k.a. any of the flavor. There were three lonely small tomato bits on it. By halfway through, the Panini bread was soaked with all the mayonnaise. So yeah, if you are the type of bland person who just really loves mayonnaise this might be the sandwich place for you. Anybody else I'm gonna say give it a hard pass. read more

Found this place looking for a quick sandwich while at a softball tournament nearby. They did not disappoint, very friendly service and the food was excellent. We ordered their special of the day a mushroom sandwich and one of their burgers with cheese curds, the food was so fresh and delicious. The cheese curds still squeaked when you ate them even though they were fried. I came back the next day for their version of a Chicago style hot dog, I loved how they made it their own with freshly chopped tomatoes and red onions on top of a perfectly cooked hot dog with celery salt and all the rest of the toppings. It was one of the best hot dogs I've had and we are from Chicago. read more

The counter service was friendly and very fast. My colleague had the meatball panini and he really liked it. I had the Friday fish fry sandwich and it could have been excellent. Unfortunately the tartar sauce and the coleslaw came already on the sandwich. There was a huge gloom of tartar which really killed the flavor and made a goopy mess with the slaw. They also only served a few French fries and the server explained their fryer was behind so they would be out with more. Unfortunately they didn't come out with more by the time we were done so we just left. The fish was tasty and crunchy though and the few fries were hot and delish. This came to us as a referral from a local. We were in town and took her up on visiting GR's. In what seemed to be an rather obscure spot, we'd likely would not have seen it had we not been told about it. It was packed around our noonish arrival. The menu was quite large considering it was a sandwich place. We were surprised to find some different-than-usual sandwiches and sides, like tabbouleh. We ordered the Gyro with fries, the Cranberry Turkey with curds and the Artichoke Chicken. All sandwiches were very tasty and unique in their own way. All three of us were very happy with our food. Extra bonus--the curds were very lightly breaded white curd; so good! (We don't like the heavy breading like some major players offer). They carry Chocolate Shoppe ice cream as well, but sadly I had to pass today. Drinks were canned/bottled and I believe some coffee selections. Just purchased what they think are falafels, hummus and pita bread. The falafels are hard, overcooked and still not cooked through. They are very dry to the point you have trouble swallowing them. The pita bread is paper thin and falls apart when you pick it up. There was noteven an attempt to warm it. It's duffucukt to even discribe the hummus. It looks like somethong curdeled then was whipped and it is peppered in cheap jarred garlic. It was a waste of the $12+ I paid for it. I will never purchase food from here again. read more

I actually did a stopover on the way to and from Des Plaines, IL. I tried the macaroni, potato salad and coleslaw. They were good enough. Mac could use more mayo. What to really come for is the tiramisu. It's delicious and not soggy, booze ridden, but just right and one of the best. Same goes for the brownie. Not many this good. Good size pieces. A lemonade that really was perfectly sweet and sour. A nice cafe that's very peaceful and quiet. I'll stop by every time I pass through. read more

I'm two bites into this chicken artichoke panini and cup of chili and I'm in heaven! This chili is some of the best I've had, (I pray my mom doesn't read this.) I came here with my son and his family, who are big fans of this little restaurant. I had the falafel wrap, and they had the bacon mac and cheese panini, the club sandwich and the grilled cheese. We all had chips and a drink as well. I liked my falafel, but it would have been better with the more traditional tzatziki sauce. There was plenty of falafels on it and lots of good veggies and a pickle, which actually was really good. My son's mac and cheese panini apparently was tasty, but very rich and my DIL's club had a ton of shredded chicken on it. Everyone was quite satisfied with their meals. The service was fast, you order from the counter, and the food was nicely prepared. There was good music playing and the vibe was upbeat and fun. We had DELICIOUS ice cream for dessert. The flavor we had was called This **** just got serious, by Schoeps- it had a caramel ice cream with salted dark chocolate and cashews and such and is one of the best ice cream flavors I have ever had. Very good food. I like checking out local places. This one was high on the Yelp reviews so we drove out of our way to eat here. Can't speak for all the food but my wife and I got Memphis Panini's. It was wonderful. She said a previous review recommended the brownies. So she wanted to get one. I didn't get one because they looked dry. Once we were back in the road.... she opened up her brownie and said it was good. I tried a bite and DANG! It was really good and moist. I regret not buying one for me. So.... try the brownies!!! I've heard good things about this place and decided to check it out today. My husband, son and I each got a meal and my husband got a bottle of pop. It was $38.75 for this. What we received was very disappointing. I had a large tortilla with a bit of chicken, lettuce, two pickle spears, tomatoes and very watery mayo (for $7) the fries were blah and the soup was inedible (loaded potato). Then my husband and son got shakes ($4 each) and coming from people that love food (especially ice cream) these were super disappointing and actually were thrown away which was really hard to do as I hate wasting food. Strike 1. If you order on line watch out. When I erased an item and replaced it, it showed it as changed. However through eat street was the order before I made the change. So, basically I didn't get my food. Sure I should have double checked, but I have never had an issue before. Strike 2: Aren't Paninis supposed to be cooked? Also, the veggie panini was missing tomatoes. 25% of what was suppose to be on it... not there. And of course, not cooked. Strike 3: 3.75 for the waffle fries equaled out to about .75 per waffle fries. Just about the same for Onion Rings. I don't mind paying more for good food. I've always love Gr's but I've been pretty disappointed lately when returning home and eating there. None of their sandwiches or wraps include chips anymore and the size of the item seems to have also decreased while the price remained the same. I'm now paying $7 for a wrap with no side. This is too expensive for a sandwich shop in Janesville. Unfortunately I think I'll stop going here which is a shame because the food is good. read more
