Check in was fine - but when we got to our room - it stunk bad like cigarette smoke. Decided not to complain - what a mistake... After checking out the room, and then going to outside balcony, we discovered both food and an empty cigarette pack on the floor. I immediately went to front desk to explain our room wasn't clean. I got a sorry and response - no the room was cleaned. The beds aren't very comfortable and the pool area gets really loud with kids. The ice machine is off due to Covid - fine - but you can offer something. It's clear this hotel doesn't care or try in any way. I should have done my research. It's not good. Like mentioned in other reviews, the towels are the size of dish rags and are low quality. The sheets weren't good and the rooms showed signs of age...rust, grime, and wear and tear. I booked a suite which had a bedroom with 2 queen beds and a separate room with a pull out sofa. I booked this more expensive room so I would have three beds for the three adults in our party. When I arrived, the person at the front desk who was not very friendly or welcoming, asked "how many adults". When I said three she said that'll be an additional $25 per night for the third person. I felt I had already paid for a larger room and shouldn't be charged an additional $50 but I said fine. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast which we did not visit either of the mornings we were there. Was that what the $25 was for? I felt I was being nickel and dimed for every little thing. There's a sign at the front desk that says "if you check in between 1P-3P you'll be charged an additional $20. I've stayed in many hotels and anyone of them will let you check in early at no cost if they have a room available. Lastly, there was a "menu" of fees stuck on the bathroom mirror that told what you'd be charged if you stole any items from the room? The bedskirt would set you back $80, a Dollar Tree plastic ice bucket was $20. It made me wonder what type of clientele stays at this property! One compliment - the lodge was very clean. So my husband and I wanted to have a night to ourselves and checked into the Sandwich Lodge. We had planned on going in the pool but it looked super gross. The room was dirty and not worth the high price and even higher "deposit". So we paid the $150 with tax and their other BS fees for the room and a $250 cash deposit. So we had a relaxing night except my cycle started which that by itself sucked. So I got a tiny bit of blood on the sheet and one towel. Mind you I spilled water and used another towel to wipe it up, and wow it was covered in dirt. Before we checked out 2 employees were scanning our room like we committed a crime and barked at us about the sheet and 2 towels and when I said the one covered in dirt was from their dirty floor they angrily protested , and then went to embarrassing and shaming me for the wee bit of blood. Those jerks said we couldn't get our $250 until we cleaned all the soiled linens. So we took their linens in our truck went to the store got tide stain remover and my husband kindly scrubbed everything out of their stupid linens and we finally got the $250. Totally insane when I KNOW hotels bleach the hell out their linens atleast they're supposed to. Tell me this is crazy!? read more

Written by a dad with the wife and 3 kids ages 12,14,16. So this is a motor lodge probably originally built in the 60s, but has been updated nicely. It is not a chain, but rather a real motor lodge that maybe my grandparents would have stayed in 60 years ago. All the rooms have air conditioning and granite counters. Wi-Fi worked well. There is a shopping center within a 3 minute walk that includes a full grocery store, liquor store, bank etc. there is a charcoal grill and table out back that could use some help, but we grilled on it fine (bought aluminum foil to cover the top). There is a nice indoor pool and outdoor pool. Beds were comfy. Staff was responsive and helpful. Not 5 stars because it does have the dings and dents of a building that is old. There is a video game arcade as well. Free breakfast from 7 to 10 am. I'd stay here again, but I'm not high maintenance. read more

Oh, Dear... we wanted this place to be nice since it was our 40th Wedding Anniversary gift to eachother... The room was smaller than anticipated, with cobwebs above one of the beds. The bathroom was a decent size with a decent shower. The bathroom floor, however, was sticky. The free breakfast buffet was helpful but served the same old scrambled eggs and sausage links every day for the 5 days we were there (along with the pastries, bread, yogurt, cereal, etc... A group of women overtook the room for 4 of the days and absconded with the fresh fruit, yogurt, emptied the coffee, juice, and bread containers. My 8 year old daughter and I were changing and they just opened the door up, then proceeded to lie about it to management. So housekeeping is letting themselves into booked rooms with no knock but cant even be bothered to vacuum the floors. The sliding doors into pool area barely opened. My daughter had to have us keep opening it because its off the tracks. The vent in the bathroom sounds like its screaming its so loud. there is no staff accommodation and I am ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED with the way we were treated BY MANAGEMENT for something that was totally their fault!! They are taking no accountability! MAKES ME SICK!! And now they have the AUDACITY to try and charge me for smoking in our room when me and my husband are clearly seen on camera going outside throughout the weekend to smoke!! For around $100 we had a nice stay. We were in town for a swim meet at the Maritime Academy. Pulled in and realized we could walk to a restaurant and they offered us a 10% discount (British Beer.) Made picking a dinner place easy! The hotel is right across from a Stop & Shop plaza with a tavern and liquor store inside. Easy access for a traveler! Our room was very spacious! Modern even. Pillows could have been better and we needed a new bathroom door but for $100 we were happy and content. We did use the hot tub and pool. Can say there is a 16+ age limit on the hot tub which was enforced by an an upset lady but clearly posted. There are some rooms who have direct access to the pool or even a balcony overlooking the pool (made me feel like an iside Jersey shore location!) Continental breakfast... Waffle maker, eggs. Sausage and the rest the regular stuff. Honestly we got our money's worth here. read more

Hotel carpet smell stands out as smelling musky and moldy. Ice machine can use a little washing, cleaning and polishing... Back entrance door to the hotel needs to be checked - door does not close properly... Bathroom towels are too small and wimpy... almost similar in texture to dish towels. We had a wonderful stay for a quick overnight while tending to some repairs on our summer place. The room was very clean, very comfortable, and PET FRIENDLY! It's so hard to find pet friendly lodging at all, and we were so happy to be able to take our little dog with us. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice and warm, and the room had a microwave and a small refrigerator. It was everything that we needed. Staff eas very friendly and helpful, especially when we figured out that my significant other had left my overnight bag at home! Highly recommend this place if you are in the area. read more

This was the WORST hotel that I have ever been in. The front desk staff was rude, disrespectful and RACIST! When I arrived after already paying for the room, they were snickering and had a bad attitude about putting a card on file. I tried to explain that the room had been paid for in advance... they then immediately stated "well, then you can't check in"... Then when we got a card ( that had funds on it) they tried to place a $250 hold [& ultimately blocked this amount] on it for an already paid for $150 room. Within the process, they threaten to not let us (my daughter, 2 (9yr old:granddaughter/great nephew, & 14 yr old grandson) check in at all. After all that, & even though I tried to de-escalate the situation so that we can check in... she then threatened to call the police. This stems from her asking us (an African American woman with a paid reservation for additional $, & then letting a White couple (without a reservation {this happened right in front of us} for NOTHING, no additional charges, no $250 hold on their card... It was outrageous how we were treated and I caution anyone who is BLACK not to visit this hotel. It's not worth the belittling experience. read more

If cosmetics and noise aren't an issue for you, go ahead and stay here. It's a perfect depiction of what comes to mind when you here the term "lodge". Very family friendly for sure. There's two pools (one indoor, one outdoor), some arcade games, pool table and ping pong.. I'd say this a great place to stay if you have children to keep entertained. But if you're a couple looking for a quiet getaway, this wouldn't fit the bill. Their continental breakfast is far from thrilling but it's a free meal. Although I wouldn't so much consider it free as I feel their room fees are a bit high based on the quality of the experience. Some areas such as ceiling tiles and tub patch jobs make it feel pretty run down, as well as there being food or trash on the floor of the hallway quite frequently. It was fine for a place to (try to) sleep, but we plan to seek arrangements elsewhere next time we return to the area. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! If I could have given this "hotel" zero stars, or negative stars I would but apparently one is the lowest you can go. This place is disgusting and a hazard. Where do I start? When you walk into the room it smells like mildew/mold. The site claimed it was newly renovated but I say they slapped lipstick on a pig. The walls appeared newly painted but you can't call that a renovation. The bathroom was dingy and gross. The faucet appeared to have mold around the fixture and the shower head needed to be bleached, as it was discolored. If you truly renovate, you should have had the electrical outlets updated as well. The power cords wouldn't stay in and our flat iron sparked. The only good outlets were in the nightstand in the room. Otherwise, every single outlet in the room was loose and didn't fit properly. Highly dangerous! Next, I'll address the "sofa bed" and the fact our room was called "deluxe". There was nothing deluxe about the room, other than the fact it was a deluxe rip. The sofa was filthy, stained and discolored. It was on its last leg and the the bed was beyond disgusting. The chair and ottoman were also stained and looked like they'd been there for 40 years. There was also a "kitchenette" which was literally a mini fridge and sink. The mini fridge was dysfunctional and froze some of the water we put in there and just chilled the rest. Next, I'll address the lack of safety in the room. The door appeared to have holes that once ha a deadbolt or lock that no longer existed. The only lock on the door was the handle itself. The 2 beds were crammed into the room with a dresser at the foot of the beds. This gave you about a 6 inch clearance to walk between the beds and the dresser. If there had been any emergency, we would have been challenged to get out of the room from the side by the window because you would have to traverse both beds and a dresser to escape. The fire department needs to inspect this place because we were lucky to not have had an emergency. The air conditioner was useless. It was in the living room and didn't truly work. We had it set to 70 and it was hot in the room. Further, it only "cooled" the living room. The bedroom had some random fan in the wall that didn't blow sufficient air to even be called a fan. No ventilation, which is likely why there was such a terrible moldy smell. We had a poolside room but the pool was green in color and smelled terrible. And the breakfast served was also undesirable. The hard boiled eggs were in a bin but not on ice or cold. This is yet another health hazard. It's 2017, technology is everywhere but at this hotel. The wifi is nonexistent. You can find it, but you can never actually connect to it. We asked the front desk multiple times and they said well the router is over your room, you should have the best connection. We literally never got it to connect. Cherry on this disgusting cake...pricing was inconsistent. We were there for a wedding and it would seem we all paid something slightly different. Between our first night and the other 2 nights, we paid an added $50/night. That's not the wedding block pricing we were told, so this hotel is literally ripping people off. Even at the cost of free, this hotel is too much. The health department and fire department should condemn this place. It's unacceptable and honestly, I can't believe any of the good reviews. My stay here was an unpleasant experience. The room I was given, on the first floor away from the office and pool, was tired and dingy. Even if it was clean, it was most unwelcoming. There was a lamp between the two beds missing a shade; an outlet in the bathroom missing a cover plate; dreary blue paint everywhere; and a set of badly scratched wooden furniture. I had no issues with the desk and cleaning people who were quite friendly and accommodating. I give this 2 star review solely for poor design, lack of cleanliness and comfort. Cons: - There was a sticky juice spot on the floor near the bed that I unknowingly stepped on with my bare feet. How they missed that I don't know.. - The sheets had a yellowish tint - The room had a musty, wet dog smell - Unpleasant ambiance. Harsh/white lighting, cold/hard floors and uncomfortable/cheap bed and pillows. - There was only one towel bar in the bathroom and it was positioned right above the toilet making it impossible to let the towel hang free to dry (nevermind multiple towels). - The shower did not look clean, rather a bit yellow with build-up around the drain. The toilet was not very clean either. - The bathroom itself was very small with little counter space. Pros: - Decent pool and hot tub - Kids will definitely have stuff to do at the motel - Cheap and there is a restaurant next door that gives discount to guests. - The rooms are surprisingly spacious and include a fridge and microwave which is convenient - Free breakfast (although underwhelming like most hotels) - Stop & shop, CVS right across the street Overall, I found myself wanting to get out of my room and dreaded returning to it after a long day of excursions. It was just not very clean, comfortable, or pleasant. But it was a roof over my head and if you just need a place to stay and these small details don't bother you, it is an okay motel for the price. Found the front desk staff to be helpful and accommodating. We had a noisy person in the room next to us, and the staff was pleasant and happily offered to move us. It was refreshing to have someone help us who didn't have an attitude and were understanding of our needs. The hotel has undergone some renovating. The rooms may not be super fancy, however, I found them to be very clean. (I hate staying in hotels.) The hotel did a great job of keeping Things neat and tidy. Our room was spacious, and I have no complaints. Indoor pool was heated, and the breakfast was good. I have no complaints. Customer Service: we had many problems with our room and the hotel staff never got back to us on any of the issues or returned our calls. Hotel Room: we requested a king bed when we booked (5 months early) and when we arrived we had a room with two full beds. The sheets on the bed had holes in them, the shelf in the bathroom was held up with duck tape, the shower was moldy and it did not drain, the room smelled of mildew, the iron was rusted and the ironing board cover was moldy. I would not recommend staying here because I am sure you can find some other hotel for the same price or a little more and have a hotel that takes care of their rooms and cares about their guests. I really didn't want to write a crappy review but the experiences were ridiculous. My husband and I stayed there because we had a family event in town. Checking in we were charmed at the atmosphere and how family oriented it seemed. The room was decent, looked over the pool so it was kind of hot everywhere but again decent. Our first night there after we came back there was a couple having sex on their balcony. The balcony's that are INSIDE, and SURROUNDED by other rooms! Wasn't trying to be a kill joy but the man was grotesquely loud and there were kids watching from another room! Had to call the front desk, but afterwards the couple just stayed on the balcony NAKED The next day there was a group of people in the hot tub, even though it's supposed to close at 10, hot boxing the pool area. Again no harm no foul, but kids were staying all over that place man. Was really hoping for a sweet place we could keep visiting whenever we were in town but I can't imagine staying here again. read more

I was very disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the lodge. I found blood stains on the sheets of my daughter's bed when I was putting her to sleep. It was very inconvenient because I had to delay putting her to bed until I was able to get fresh sheets. I called the front desk and they said they would bring them but they never came so I had to go to the desk to get them. There were also significant blood stains on the mattress of the pull out couch. It was extremely disturbing and caused me to question the cleanliness of the entire hotel. I even noticed mold on the tiles in the hot tub. The blood on the pull out couch was very disturbing as it creates a health hazard. On the first night of the stay, there were rowdy teenagers in the pool area aggressively throwing a volleyball. One of them came very close to hitting my daughter in the head. I've stayed there a few times last year and I didn't have these issues. The hotel offered me 20% off my next stay as an accommodation but that's a current deal they offer to anyone for a 3 night stay so essentially, they offered me nothing. I will never stay here again. The response by the hotel is inaccurate as I did not speak with Raj. I spoke with Rita. I had brought the blood stains to the attention to the motel during my stay and was told that a note would be left for the general manager. Of course I notified staff...who would sleep on bloody sheets???Upon checkout, I told the general manager, Rita, that having encountered these issues, I would not want to return next year. She said she would let me know what they could do for me. I should be entitled to a refund for at least one night due to the inconvenience that I had to deal with. I was traveling with my 5 year old daughter and I couldn't put her to bed until I got new sheets. Each room was a bit different but all had noticeable, minor upgrades that added a nice touch to an older building. Our king bed room was huge... plenty of room for morning yoga after a night out next door at the restaurant/bar, British Beer Company (fridge in room for leftovers). Good food and drinks there. I booked this place through Expedia (Name Your Own Price) for only $85 for a Friday night, and I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much out of this place, but the lodge is well equipped with amenities. They have a mini arcade (good for children), an indoor pool and sauna, as well as an outdoor pool. The room was also spacious (I got a king sized bed), clean, had a mini kitchen, mini fridge and microwave---shoot it was almost like a studio. The staff was friendly, and the place is close to everything you need---Stop and Stop, CVS, liquor store, etc. They also threw in a complimentary Continental breakfast from 6-10am but I wasn't awake to have it. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a place to stay overnight for a mini getaway to Cape Cod. read more

The jacuzzi and pool were great, but don't expect them to be open before 11am...despite stating they are open at 9am. Game room was still closed when we were checking out. Our toilet didn't work the entire stay (luckily one night), despite maintenance stating they fixed it. The room was stuffy and needed airing out, but clean. Pillows were the smallest and thinnest I've even seen in a hotel. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. We were offered the lobby toilet the next morning after giving up on our room toilet, and offered another room...2 hours before checking out. Which was just silly. "continental" breakfast was cereal, fruit, bagels, yogurt...nothing hot. Pretty disappointed in that, as we thought we could save on getting a meal. Carbs only. The only real attraction to this hotel is the convenience, it shares a parking lot with the British Beer Company and gives 10% off with your room key. Stop and Shop directly across the street, with a strip mall. Breakfast nook right up the road, and minutes away from everything...so you can't beat that. Just wish the hotel took better care of the guests. While using the lobby toilet, the cleaning crew shut the light off while I was in the stall and shut the door, and never responded to my yelling...so that was wonderful. I had to finish in complete darkness. Luckily another guest used the toilet before I killed myself trying to find my way around. I'll be staying elsewhere my next trip to Sandwich. read more

Went back and got put into a suite with queens. After 2 night was told we had to move because we were giving the wrong room, giving the suite not just a queen basic room. Kept blaming it on us and telling us we had to move by morning or they would move our stuff for us.....total bad customer service. Will not stay again. The "manager" was the one who told us to move or they would do it for us. Kept me at hotel for 30 minutes when I was suppose to be at wake! Told them I was late and didn't care one bit. Clean and updated rooms, continental breakfast was good, 10% discount at the restaurant right next door. We stayed here in late Feb 2018 and had a horrible experience. We had stayed before and it was better, but this time was terrible. The chlorine in the pool area was so strong it made everyone's eyes burn. The pool ventilation system was not working correctly, so that strong chlorine was there in the pool and everyone was exposed to it. We were there with three other families, a total of 16 people; all of were affected by this. The manager refused to admit there was a problem and said we must have "allergies".. 16 people all with allergies at the same time. Once we got back to our own homes, all of that slowly disappeared. My daughter ended up throwing up due to the congestion. (But remember, there was no issue according to the manager.) Let me tell you all how bad the chlorine was. Everyone was coughing, sneezing, and suffering from nasal congestion. We had a poolside room and had to move to another room for the second night. The de-humidification system was not working in the pool area. The manager tried to explain to me that de-humidification is not needed in a pool area. However, unfortunately for him, google told a different story. In fact, it's essential. And, according to multiple sites, lack of de-humidification leads to eye and lung irritation. Additionally, our slider door to the pool area did not lock well. We had to put a foot-lock on and then to get that lock undone, we had to go to the front desk because it was jammed closed. The next day I put the regular lock on it and pulled to make sure it was locked (it was). But, one of the kids in our party simply pulled it to the side a bit and slid it wide open. Now, here's the kicker, the second night we complained about the chlorine, the front desk person suggested she could leave the back door to pool area open because the area was "safe". Ok.. we're there with 2 kids, no way to lock the room door and not be trapped by it, and an exterior door open to allow people in. I think both the chlorine and the door lock demonstrate how little this place cares for your safety or well-being... top that off with the manager's general lack of concern about our concern and you get how this place operates. read more

Stayed here for a friend's wedding on the Cape and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. The staff were very friendly, rooms were clean, and the Stop & Shop across the street was convenient. There is a bus between the grocery store and Hyannis-Barnstable Airport, but it only runs on weekdays. The closest beach within walking distance is 1 mi away. Breakfast was simple but alright--cereal, eggs, sausages, yogurt, coffee, juice, fresh waffle maker, and baked goods. My only complaint is that the floors could use a good mopping, being hardwood/tile they tend to collect a lot of dirt. I didn't use the indoor pool but it seemed nice and other guests looked like they enjoyed it. The nightly price was reasonable and was actually somehow cheaper than the room block my friend booked for her wedding. Rooms were big and came with mini fridge, microwave, A/C, desk, and TV. Overall: a very quaint/cute lodge with friendly staff and reasonable amenities, but a bit far away from most attractions on the cape unless you have a car. read more

Quaint little motel with a discounted price point. Our room appeared to be renovated and was very nice inside, however it was not clean and smelled awful - like mildew. There were fruit loops on the floor and our sheets had someone else's hair on them. The pull out sofa bed had a dirty cover on it that was not removable which really grossed me out. The mini fridge's freezer was frozen over but the front desk nicely offered to freeze our items for us. The indoor pool had a dozen or so dead/dying plants, random old goggles, and trash lying around. The arcade games are outdated and there is no quarter machine. Pool table requires you to pay too lay and the pool towels were about the size of a washcloth. Our room was directly outside of the indoor pool which was nice for access but be aware that the pool doesn't close until 10pm and the sounds of people in there carries loudly into the rooms making it impossible to sleep until they are gone. Breakfast was served in a tiny room and it was clearly stated to not congregate there due to Covid but people didn't listen anf this wasn't enforced and it was nearly impossible to get food due to the number of people packed in standing and seated eating their breakfast. During our stay there was a group of workers staying at the motel while doing constricted somewhere local - ending their days by getting hammered and smoking in the parking lot then stumbling around the motel grounds until eventually making their way back to their rooms to pass out for the night - this was unpleasant to say the least. Sandwich is a beautiful town with so much to offer but sadly this motel is not a place I would recommend. read more

We stayed in the rooms that allowed pets... they are disgusting. I think housekeeping does a good job of keeping the bathroom clean, but the flooring and the bedding NEEDS to be updated. I think the bathroom linoleum has been there since the 70's. The place smelled like a wet dog. I'm glad we only stayed one night. It was totally NOT worth the $130 we paid. YUCK! Having a pet shouldn't mean you have to sleep in a hell hole. read more

We stayed here with a kids team. Is it your normal chain hotel, absolutely not, but we knew that going in, so my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised with a lot of it. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Some of it looked as though it was recently updated/renovated. The largest downside to this place is the acoustics. The floors and walls are paper thin. We could hear walking, talking, jumping, and many other sounds through the FLOORS, let alone the conversations we heard in the hallways. The other thing that bothered me was the checkout procedure. At most places, you can request a late checkout and they say thank you. Here, we requested a late checkout so our teams could get ready for their competition and we were told $20/hour late. So I agreed to one hour. I watched her note the time in their system, yet the housekeepers were still banging on the door at the normal checkout time to see if we were leaving. When we did finally check out after the extended time, the housekeepers followed us up to the room to check the room and make sure we were truly leaving. Another item on the positive side was the British Beer Company next door. Not affiliated to the Lodge, but they offer guests a 10% discount for showing your room key. The food was excellent, and the service great, but I'll review them on their page. I did want to point out though that it was a positive to staying with this Lodge. Overall, if I ask myself if I would come back, it would be a 50/50 toss up. I might look around for others, just to experience what else is around, but I wouldn't hesitate to use this as a fall back guarantee either. read more

We used a coupon found in one of those traveler books found at rest stops along the highway last March and chose this place because we were able to grab the room for $30. It turned out to be a great decision. The staff was very helpful and had coinage for us to buy to do some much needed laundry, the room was very large and clean. Super conveniently located across the street from a grocery store as well as a liquor store (yay!). The British Beer Co across the parking lot is something you can skip (if you're eating) but that's definitely not the hotel's fault. In room fridge was large enough to hold whatever we needed, and I seem to recall a very large tv as well. We were able to choose to have our room with outside parking lot access instead of being in the big boxy portion of the main part of the hotel (I prefer private access where I don't feel I have to say hi to the desk folks all the time). Comfy king sized bed, and lots of amenities for folks vacationing during the high season. Breakfast was included and contained the usual suspects: yogurt, bagels, cereal, etc, but again, great for $30. read more
