I was extremely disappointed with my stay at Sandwich Inn & Suites. The cleanliness and overall condition of the property were completely unacceptable and nowhere near what any guest should expect. The shower curtain liner in our room was brown and covered in mold, and the entire bathroom smelled strongly of mildew the entire time we were there. There were also dead bugs inside the bathroom light sconces, which made it obvious that basic cleaning and maintenance are being neglected. The most shocking issue was finding a blood stain on the bed. That is absolutely inexcusable and made me seriously question the cleanliness of the room and whether the linens had been properly changed or inspected. The amenities advertised were just as disappointing. The pool was literally caved in and unusable, yet there was no clear indication of that beforehand. And the so-called "free breakfast" consisted of a few deli meats laid out on a plate, which hardly qualifies as breakfast and felt incredibly misleading. I understand that older hotels require upkeep, but there is no excuse for mold, stained bedding, dead bugs, and misleading amenities. For the price charged, this experience was unacceptable. I would not stay here again and hope management takes these issues seriously before more guests have a similar experience. read more

In fact, this review failed to post several times. 4 STAR if you just want a nice motel. We purchased a suite with a full kitchen. Not at all like an inn unless you have no regard for hospitality. Cute and humble rooms but the woman who either runs or owns it is especially unfriendly, unkind and impatient. One of the many times my husband I started there, I went o go get some breakfast at 9:45, 15 minutes left until breakfast was over. She had already cleared most of the food and then got irritated with me for trying to take some of what was left. We had stayed there many, many times and each time she was completely inhospitable and frankly, just plain miserable. Definitely, not worth the price in the summer. read more

My husband and I went there about 5 yrs ago and the place was wonderful, quaint good location. Best it had an awsome breakfast!! A good selection with a lot of homemade stuff. We went a few weeks ago and it was awful, awful!! Flooring was lifting up in our room and some other incidentals but the worst was the breakfast. The milk was out (not being on ice) and warm. That's disgusting in it's self but also there were no eggs, well only hard boiled and 3 day old bagels. Like eating cardboard, so hard. It looks cute but try something else. read more

We've stayed here the last 2 summers and had a nice experience. This summer we were there for 5 nights ..... we actually left a day early and returned home New ownership and it seems they don't care I knew the minute I saw how the landscaping had been neglected....hanging planters were dead or dying Road debris at the front entrance of the property Our room was made up nicely, but the floor was covered in sand. The cleaners had no vacuum only swifter brooms. Also we had no replacement toilet paper roll. When we called they brought just one to replace the empty roll! Table light was broken, no light in the shower and the bathroom fan did not work. On our last morning at 7:45/AM there was no milk at breakfast for cereal or coffee. I mentioned this and they said they were sorry. Someone should have driven to the connivence store just down the street and got some...Nope. People left and went out The staff from the prior years were all gone We won't be going back here read more

The was cereal pieces on the floor in the 1st room and then other stuff on the floor under beds in 2nd room. We had stayed at the Sandwich Inn & Suites pre-pandemic and had a pleasant experience. This past week we stayed five days with different results. We understand that the motel was under new ownership and this may be the reason. The room was never cleaned by housekeeping, we had to fetch and return towels, we had to sweep the sand off the floor from the beach, make our own bed and empty all our own garbage. (See pix of garbage can from the week outside our room that was never emptied) We requested extra pillows and were told none we available and then asked for replacement pillows because the lumpiness of our pillows were like a bag of potatoes or found in a foreign prison. After three days we were given new pillows. The two desk clerks were friendly, but perplexed by management. The property manager was rude and insulting, more suited for a prison than a hotel as she was defensive and stormed away. On the fourth morning of our stay all the guests had to find other breakfast arrangements as the employee called in sick and the harried and rude manager opened for coffee late after most guest made other arrangements. The swimming pool was never opened and remained covered. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, but all the rooms need a total refresh. The manager said we will send housekeeping to refresh the room upon request, which we did several times and she said we never did. We will never return to a property so poorly run. We can go elsewhere to Not be insulted. People go to Cape Cod for vacation, not to serve a sentence. read more

We went to Sandwich Inn to spend a quiet weekend away. It sounded like a nice relaxing place. When we arrived we were impressed. It is obviously an old motel that has been totally done over. There are a few different buildings scattered amongst the property with all the various motel rooms. It was the Christmas season so it was all decorated for the holidays. We went to the office to check in and it is a large cozy room that also serves as the breakfast buffet. Lots of windows and a fireplace. We got our key and went to our room. It was one of the cutest motel rooms I've ever stayed in. It was all done in all white/cream colors, shiplap walls. I loved that instead of carpeting they had a hard floor (it might have been vinyl, it had a wood look though), I think that is cleaner than carpeting...less germs!!! There was a decent size refrigerator and a tiny coffee maker. We were planning on relaxing quite a bit so we brought our regular size coffee maker from home. They served a very nice breakfast spread at the office. Plenty of options and very good coffee. The only drawback of me not giving them 5 stars is of all the work they did to remodel and modernize the motel is they didn't sound proof the walls. We could pretty much hear the people in the next room talking, thankfully they didn't stay up late at night. I would still definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed our getaway! read more

I want to preface first and foremost that I believed the property was lovely. Choosing this hotel was based on location and we were very excited to be close to everything that we wanted to do. I also want to say the maintenance employee was wonderful and kind. He worked on 10/7 in the morning. However, the complaint that I have to make does not come lightly and I have battled with for the last few days and have decided that the audacity and disrespect given to my partner and I regarding the issue at hand (will explain further) was completely baffling. Upon arriving at the Inn and Suites, We collected our key cards from the mailbox at the front door. It was late in the evening as our travels were extended and took longer than we believed. A gentleman did greet us at the door and just pointed to our room (1) and told us where it was. After beginning to get settled, my partner realized that the bottom of her pants were soaking wet. We did some investigating and saw that there was a large puddle on the floor and when stepping around liquid rising from beneath the planks. I called the front desk number and the recording told me to leave a voicemail, but we also went back to the front desk (which was closed and we did not know that it closed at 9), so left a secondary voicemail to let the front desk know in the morning that we tried to rectify the situation. I went to the front desk in the morning while breakfast was being served and explained the issue to maintenance who said that I needed to speak with Natalie and she would be back. I spoke with Natalie and explained what happened and her response was to cut me off, tap the desk and say "I am no one that can help you. You need to wait for the assistant general manager." I asked when she would be in and she said in 30 minutes. I went back to the front desk and we were told that the assistant manager was by our room and to meet us there. In summary, but not complete details: The assistant manager called me by name and said "what is the problem?" Further, when I started to explain what happened she completely cut me off and asked why I didn't call the after hours number for assistance. I explained that there wasn't a number to call and that if I knew of one I would have called, but left two voicemails because I wasn't aware. She asked if I knew the office closed at 9pm and I said no, because we arrived at 830-845pm and that wasn't posted or explained. The assistant general manager continued to be extremely aggressive, and would not let us speak to her regarding the issue. Continued to say "the problem is being fixed." Her demeanor was extremely defensive, completely unapologetic, and unprofessional. I looked at my partner and said "I can't even talk, I don't even know what to say" in which the assistant manager started yelling at me saying that my attitude was uncalled for and that she was cancelling my reservation for the rest of my stay and that I would not be charged for my stay at all. I loaded the car and went to the front desk for a receipt. She could not print me the receipt that I was wanting, so she had to call the assistant manager. The assistant manager came and printed my receipt; however, charged me for the night. When I asked why she charged me for the night when she said I wouldn't be charged for my stay (which would have included the 12 hours I was there) she rolled her eyes, smacked her lips, instantly had an attitude and said "you stayed you pay". I cannot fathom how any business treats their customers this way. Not only was it to me, but the same disrespect was given to another customer who was checking out early due to issues with the room and the service provided. read more

It's close to the canal so great if your going to be fishing. It was super clean and the breakfast was fantastic. You also get to go through the snack pantry in the main office at any time and it's packed with goodies. It was worth the little bit of money more than the regular hotel. It's also very secluded so we even left our bikes and some fishing rods in the bed of the truck. read more

Horrible Experience If cleanliness is important to you, this is not the place for you. Traveled in a family group. Had 5 rooms total. One room was swept.. pile of mess and broom left in the middle of the room. All rooms had vinyl flooring... none of the floors were mopped. Totally gross floors. Our room had something sticky on floor which attracted a trail of ants. No "maintenance" person was there to help with ants. Front desk person had no access to cleaning products or ant spray. Would have left if we were not with a group. Husband and I went to store for cleaning products. This did not get rid of ants. Had to go back to store for ant spray. Talked to two front desk clerks and manager about all of work we put in to get rid of ants and cleaning up room... was very dirty for my standards so I cleaned room so that I would be comfortable. During our four night stay, no one checked in with us about ants. We battled the ants for 3 days. Expected my room rate to be adjusted because of all of this, but I was just charged over $1000 for 4 nights. Sent email to owner/manager and no response. Another room in group had substantial water leak when it rained. This used to be a nice place to say. Had stayed here many times before, but hotel was sold a year ago. well, mislead by the "Yelp Sort" default, which seems to bury the bad reviews to the bottom- just a tip for you Yelpers: always change sort to newest first! But, I digress... As luck would have it, I'd like to thank the attendent at the office, who reluctantly opened the door when I could not locate my "check in envelope" (checking in by envelope, it seems, is the preferred practice of Sandwich Inn- which you'll apppreciate, too, since then you'll avoid any interaction with the attendent). Arriving late after 6 hours of road-trippin thru the speed bump (and bump and bump and bump) that is I95 thru Connecticut, and not finding a "check-in envelope" in the mailbox, I knocked on the door. What happened next? I was told my credit card was declined twice and so the reservation was cancelled! I asked if they tried to contact me- "policy is that we email you so we have it documented." I tried to explain that MAY be policy but certainly NOT good customer service - we were ON vacation with no access to email, and besides, they could have called (or if they were adverse to talking to people, which I now think may be the case, they could have texted) since they required and had on file my phone number. But it gets better. Better? Yes, better. When I explained that we had driven hours, it was late and now had no place to stay on Cape Cod, and that they (Sandwich Inn) just could have called, that the attendent rose from her chair, suggested that i was a very rude person, that she didn't care about my day, asked me to leave the office before she called the police and noted it was all on tape (hint to Sandwich Inn owners- IT'S ALL ON TAPE). So i left. Fortunately, at a little more cost , we found a lovely place in Hyannis and were met with cookies and smiles by attendents THAT SPOKE TO US. So I say THANK YOU to the attendent with no sense of customer service, and Sandwich Inn's policy of NOT calling possible customers. Thank You for saving us from what looks like (given the RECENT reviews) a potential 2 nites of [fill in the blank]. Ironically, as I looked thru the "check-in envelopes" in the mailbox, I discovered two rejected "check-in envelopes" by a family that wrote that they found the rooms lacking- had called Sandwich Inn multiple times to no answer, and so decided to leave to find other accommodations. So had the attendent considered providing some customer service, and risen from her chair to check on the possible arriving customers, she might have noted the 2 rooms that were now available and offered one to us.... As we were on our way to the inn, I called to make sure everything was ok and to my disbelief, with tremendous attitude was told no. After a good run around the women told me that they checked a person into our room (that was already booked with an early check in) last minute. Therefore the time for this person to depart, interfered with our early check in. I was so unbelievably upset with the way things occurred. I'm not sure if there was change over in owners? The room kinda had an oder, the bed was small and very uncomfortable, the TV did not work and there was no one to help you just a recording. Stayed overnight for a visit with nearby friends. Booking online was easy. A tad more then booking through Hotel Tonight app, but we got to choose a king bed (as opposed to hotel chooses for you). Room is large, clean, well lit with a comfortable bed. We requested extra pillows when making the reservation, and there they were (thanks!). The only minus is the free WiFi. Super slow. Good enough for email but too slow for browsing or YouTube. In the morning, I could hear the guy in the adjacent room's bathroom like he was standing next to me. Chalk it up to lively entertainment in lieu bid WiFi. All in all, great value, convenient and comfortable. read more

We loved all the decorations, art and little touches everywhere. We love the style! Very cosy and comfortable! The owners are really artistic and take designing very seriously. The place is recently renovated and it looks new inside. Breakfast food is tasty. Service is friendly and helpful. There are ice machine, laundry detergent machine, washer and dryer near the office. There are three units within yards of a very busy street. The rest of the units are set back and have a more woodsy setting. I got the middle of those three units. They are so close to the street, in order to leave you have to back out into the street. I went back to the office before even going into the room and asked to be moved to another unit. I was told they were all booked up and they would not switch rooms even though others hadn't checked in yet. I asked to be moved to a different room the next day when I knew they were not fully booked. I was told it was their policy "not to switch rooms once you were assigned one." I was staying there for four days. Their rigidity and complete lack of hospitality was amazing to me. There was absolutely no effort made to ameliorate the situation (they could have suggested another place for me to park, for instance and of course move me to an empty unit the next day) I stayed one night and cancelled the other three days. read more

We booked a reservation in September 2023 for The Sandwich Inn and Suites thru Guest Reservations/Priceline for June 21-23 2024 . We arrived on June 21 and were told our reservation was canceled. We never received a cancelation notice !! The manager REFUSED to print out the reservation cancelation notice, gave us no reason for cancelation and was extremely rude. We were left with no where to go, our weekend RUINED. We contacted Guest Reservations/Priceline who said they never received the cancelation notice either, they reached out to Sandwich Inn and Suites. The Sandwich Inn and Suites refused to cooperate.. So Guest Reservations/Priceline said we could not get a refund because the cancelation happened on the last day, WE NEVER CANCELED !!!!!!!!! I requested from Guest Reservation/Priceline a copy of the cancelation notice they received from Sandwich Inn and Suites or a copy of the email they sent us about the cancelation, they never produce either one . Sandwich Inn and Suites is a wonderful spot just over the Sagamore Bridge on Cape Cod - the location makes arriving on and departing from the Cape really convenient, which is a huge plus. The rooms are comfortable, nicely appointed and well maintained. They offer coffee and a light breakfast in a very pleasant, classic Cape Cod breakfast room. The inn is close to Rts 6 & 6A so there is easy access to set out for day trips elsewhere on the Cape. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. We have stayed at many places on CC over forty years and highly recommend Sandwich Inn & Suites. read more

Wonderful place to stay. Quiet, peaceful, very well maintained and spotlessly clean. They are reasonably priced too. The landscaping is well maintained and lots of flowers blooming. They serve a great breakfast, excellent coffee, have vending, ice and a laundry facility that was also economical. I used the dryer and the laundry was also spotless. I love the location. Close to lots of restaurants, etc., easy parking. This was our second stay here and this time the room wasn't as clean as I would like. Dirty toilet inside and dirt under foot sticking to my feet. I realize that there can be staff shortages, but in these COVID times, the bleach should be used every time and the floor cleaned too. Cleaning should be #1 priority. I wish the pool was cleaned and opened. Fix these two things and will be much improved. read more

Sandwich Inn and Suites well this is going to be a good one, they showed me my room which I thought was very small and nothing like what I'm used to seeing. There was a dehumidifier in each of the rooms which I didn't see before. The room was very small for the price and a fan was blowing on you. Besides this the woman who was the manager was very rude to me saying she didn't know what a stroke was and didn't give me a chance to explain. It seemed like she didn't care much and she explained to me that it wasn't her business to care about your business. Don't stay here take your business elsewhere. Go someplace where they're not sooooo... rude ! She even said to me that I was very rude to her, well what about her to me. And she said much more..... she even said no to the use of the phone to, call a taxi but ended up calling my daughter. Even the best manager would have given me a break. read more

The Shady Nook is no more the Sandwich Inn and Suites have completely renovated updated upgraded modernized redecorated and infused a charming Cape Cod hipness that still maintains a tradition of family owned and cared for Inn that feels like a home away from home. Comfortable ultra clean. WiFi complementary breakfast that is healthy and delicious gracious hosts that live on site and affordable. I'm sure I'm leaving something out but I'll get to anything I missed in my next review because we will surely be back soon. read more

The Shady Nook inn in Sandwich is decidedly casual, warm and welcoming. Just spent 3 nights there and Kelly couldn't have done more for us. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left she was a great hostess and resource with restaurant and beach recommendations and even printed us directions to get to our next destination at check out. The pool is clean and refreshing after a long day at one of the many beaches we visited in Sandwhich, Barnstable and Dennis which are all just a short ride along historic route 6a. Most rooms are set back off the road nestled in between trees. The outdoor fire pit at the center of the property is a nice touch as are the charcol grills available around the grounds for guests to use. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite which was like a cottage. Small Deck on front with chairs and a small end table complete with candles provided by the Inn. The first room had a King size bed, desk, and Air Conditioner. The second room had 2 twins, a bureau and a TV with Cable. Across the hall was the Kitchen/Living room area with AC, Television, love seat, kitchen table for 4, and full fridge, stove, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and all the pots/pans/utensils as well as plates/cups etc for 4. They even had wine glasses which was perfect for the mimosas we made each morning. As we were checking in the housekeeper was bringing brand new pillows to our room as they had just been delivered and they wanted to make sure they got them into our room for our stay. The rooms are not modern but have that classic or rustic cape cod feel that we were looking for. While we were 4 adults on a 3 day getaway - we noted that our room was a perfect set up for families since you could put the kids to bed in one room with the door closed and TV (With sleep timer on) and be able to socialize in the living room/kitchen area at night. I think there was even another adjoining room on the other side of our kitchen - perfect if you're bringing along the grandparents or a babysitter. read more

Honestly, one of the best places we have ever stayed. The simple but super clean rooms made my family and I feel so comfortable and cozy on our road trip around New England. Beautiful new king room with a flawless housekeeping staff made it through best when returning to the room after a long day touring. The breakfast wasn't the typical big brand name cold Danish bad coffee type. Full hot breakfast with a large selection AND great coffee!
