When I called the desk about it the employee cut me off to tell me I couldn't use the bathtub after 11pm (it was 9:45pm). And that stipulation was not apparent when we booked the room. I was too grossed out to use the tub at all the rest of the week, so that was a waste of money. The bathroom was overall not very clean or well-maintained. Shower had mold and needed to be re-grouted and small things like the towel holder were broken. The restaurant is super limited, only serving breakfast on weekends with like 4 things on the menu. And the food was below average. Most of the staff were very nice and the hotel has a charming aesthetic, but the standards absolutely do not match the price. I would've brought my qualms up to them instead of writing this review, but they did not bother to ask me how my stay was when I checked out. And this is more of a personal gripe, but we let them know it was our wedding week and they didn't do anything special. Usually a place in this price range gives you a little perk, like a mini bottle of champagne or a kind note waiting for you. Nothing from this place. Honestly just sad because this was a splurge we were excited about, but we should've just stayed at a more basic hotel.

The setting and décor itself is quite lovely. Jan goes out of her way to make people comfortable if they have any special requests. The rooms are clean and the price was reasonable for the long weekend. Jan was willing to accommodate my food allergies. I would have gone out to eat but Jan was such a sweetheart about it. The rooms are clean with maid service on a daily basis, our room shared an outdoor porch on the second floor. Breakfast is served 8:30am-9:30am. Jan is a great cook and Charlie services the food. I noticed he was very friendly to the other customers and talked a lot about the history of the house and the local area. I you are going to Sandwich this is a good choice. Across from the Sandwich Glass Museum and down the street from a few nice restaurants. The area is quiet and closes early. There is no pizza delivery at 9pm.

The mattresses and pillows were absolutely awful. Actually dreading going to bed with how uncomfortable everything was. Joked with my husband about going to target to get mattresses toppers and new pillows but that was squashed. Couch was also extremely uncomfortable. Towels in the unit were ridiculously small and unless you were a child or a size 0 those towels do not close around you. Toilet paper was see through and like sandpaper. Bring your own!!!!!! The master bathroom was amazing in size but the shower floor as well as the tile floor was extremely slippery and could be dangerous for some people. Kitchen was amazing but there were no spices or cooking spray included in the unit. I used one of the pans to reheat pasta and the pan had to soak for two days to get the sauce off. I understand about not wanting to have condiments in the fridge but not having basic spices or cooking spray seems odd. For the laundry the property offered travel size powder detergent for sale in the office. I had never heard of the brand.. probably only sold at dollar stores and washed like it was from the dollar store. The powder would only dissolve if the washing machine water was hot which obviously is bad some fabrics. So the majority of the bad things are small and can be fixed. But the mattress and pillow issues were a big fail in my eyes. I am going to have to get my back corrected when I get home. I can't believe I am the only one who has had this issue. At least have a mattress topper in the unit as an option if people don't like super hard beds. Also offer more pillows because 5 pillows for 4 beds is not enough. Especially when they are the size of airplane pillows and have absolutely no filling.

We checked in and went to our assigned room. We quickly discovered the room to be quite filthy. There was long black hair everywhere. On the countertops, in the bathtub, on the tile floor where the kitchen sick was, and even large clumps under the vanity sink. I immediately went to the front desk and spoke to the GM "Elissa." She was very apologetic and sent a housekeeper down shortly after. The housekeeper visited our room to "re-clean" it, and once she left, there was still hair all over the place. I didn't want to complain to the front desk for a second time, so I did the best I could by washing some of those surfaces myself. Unfortunately, it didnt end there. We went to the the breakfast buffet all three days between 8 and 8:30. It was atrocious. It was very overcrowded and items were not replenished once empty. There was only one working waffle maker that left many people waiting 8-10 people deep in line. Juice machine was "out of order" with no alternative offered other than coffee and tea. Oatmeal was empty. Milk was empty. Cereal container was empty. It was just downright awful. Ive never had this type of experience at any hotel breakfast. There were two restrooms across from the dining area that were BOTH "out of order" the entirety of our stay. So basically the only available restroom was the one in our room. Housekeeping services are supposed to be started on day two of guests stays. Our mounted shower gel was empty. I went to the front desk at 10am asking for a replacement. I waited around all day. Nobody came. I texted the front desk around 3PM asking if we had been forgotten about and was told someone would be down in 5 minutes. Another hour and a half went by, and it was finally delivered to our door at 5PM.... Housekeeper never entered the room. Thats all that was done. Our trashes remained overflowing. Our shampoo and conditioner were empty shorly after. No fresh towels were delivered. It was just bad. The worst part, which forced us to leave early was the discomfort in the beds. I can't even begin to explain how uncomfortable the beds in our room were. The pull out sleeper was like sleeping on straight mattress springs. It left my daughter with severe neck and shoulder pain. The king size bed was just as bad. My husband and I couldn't sleep at all because the bed was so uncomfortable. We tossed and turned all night long and woke up with neck, back, and hip pain. On day two of our stay, I also noticed tiny black ants on the wall next to our bed, and two of them IN our bed. We couldn't take it anymore, so we checked out of the hotel after just 3 short, painfully agonizing days. We spoke to the GM again and explained why we had to leave. She was apologetic but did not offer to compensate any part of our stay. It was by far the most disappointing vacations ever. We had looked forward to this vacation for months to be seriously disappointed. Would not recommend this hotel. Look elsewhere.

Only drawback was nightly fire by our bathroom window forced us to keep Windows shut due to smoke and smell, would be better off in back yard. Quick drive or brisk walk to the village with awesome market, Nirvana coffee and Italian restaurant plus pond and dog park. Only factor preventing a five star review is can't leave dog onsite . The next morning they had me up at the crack of dawn and into the car before i could object. An hour and 10 minutes later we pulled up at the Bay Motor Inn. Cutest little cottages and a nice big pool. This was already looking good. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Irene, the proprietor, who made us right at home. The cottages were perfect, the kids had one and the boy an I had an adjacent cottage (complete with a cute little porch). The rooms were clean and well appointed, air conditioned and they even shuffled us around when we saw the porch unit. Fred and Irene could not have been better hosts. As we relaxed by the pool they made us feel like we were long lost friends. What a comfort in today's world of "institutional lodging". We had such a great time on day one that we stayed an extra day. Aside from the hotel's amenities and charming hosts the Motel was located in a perfect position for us. We could easily scoot to beautiful beaches, take a walk along the canal and even take the kids bowling, mini golfing and go kart riding (I lost all three but it was worth it for the family time!).
