Tried a dozen donuts here. You order and pick up at window. Line doesn't move super quick, assuming they top at least some of the donuts made to order. They are very heavy cake type donuts, almost a little too greasy for me but that's just my preference. Everyone in my family was definitely not eating more than two of these being as heavy as they are. The toppings/flavors are creative and pretty good. They are reminiscent of another chain, which we'll call the Shattered Dried Plum, and if we're comparing them, I think Sandy Pony doesn't quite measure up. My favorites were the Porky Pony and Cow Tail (hello, childhood candy favorite!). There are lots of fruity glazed flavors. It can get a little rich with the freshly fried doughnut and glazes that often melt into it. They also have coffee and açaí bowls; maybe we'll try those next time. Because they are fried to order, a long line can form, but they move as fast as humanly possible. When we first arrived the window to order was closed (despite it being 810) and the line wasn't moving for the first ten minutes; once the order window opened the line went faster.. there is a wait for the donuts but it wasn't too bad for us; the açaí bowls took longer than the donut but it was a delicious treat for us once we got to the beach! I heard about the island famous doughnuts and insisted on trying. They're located off of Maddox and operate out of a food truck. Easy and safe in CoVId times. After scanning the menu my eyes perked up at the fruity pebble doughnut. I then added three others and coffee to complete purchase. The doughnut tasted like an Italian zeppole. It was hot, crunchy, and light. Each doughnut was decorated and designed for each flavor. I'm used to Dunkin' Donuts in NJ so these doughnuts blew Dunkin' out of the water! Cute place. The service was good/friendly but that was the only positive. I got the acai bowl with strawberries, blueberries, and peanut butter drizzle. I thought it'd be "made to order" as advertised as in freshly blended and created but its not. Its essentially a frozen scoop of acai sorbet and then fresh ingredients are put on top. I had to wait for it to thaw to start eating because the spoon was about to break trying to dig into it. The acai itself tasted like what you get in the frozen section of a grocery store. As it thawed it got more and more sickly sweet, sticky, and syrupy. I ate enough to finish the toppings and then threw it away. Not at all what I expected and can't really call it freshly made. I also got the pony party donut. It came warm (which I didn't realize) but the glaze was just a melty mess all over. It basically turned into a soggy moist donut. I took two bites and threw that away as well because it wasn't worth the calories and couldn't get over the "wet bread" texture. Overall a disappointment compared to other acai bowls and donuts I've had and I wouldn't try them again but it was worth a shot. read more

Let's start with the wait...way too long for dry donuts with nonexistent glaze and stale toppings. Yes the donuts are made "fresh" while you wait but that doesn't explain why they taste and look horrible?! Donuts are my jam but this place killed that for me! The prices are ridiculous for the size of the donuts, if you think you're going to get a normal size donut-you will be disappointed because they're actually more mini donuts but they don't say that! The pictures on their menu boards hanging on the wall definitely show something you won't be getting LOL My daughter was so excited but then almost cried with how disappointed she was when she saw the nonexistent glaze and then eat the stale cereal topping! My daughter (she's 10) said these don't look like the picture on the menu, where is the blue glaze that should have been on them?! Hmmm....the wax paper showed a very very thin blue glaze but it definitely didn't show on the donut at all. Had amazing donuts this morning. Almost no line, plenty of parking infront of the food truck which stays in one spot. Got the top dozen donuts and substituted the mint flavor. My girlfriend got the acai bowl and loved it- she is gluten free so she couldn't have the granola. I would suggest that the company invest in buying a box of dairy/gluten free donuts (even if it's not made by them) just to have on hand for people with allergies. This ensures that you should always have piping hot donuts, and that is extremely important with these. It's important to eat sandy pony donuts quickly while hot because they are grease sponges. They aren't crispy cake donuts, but are very soft and almost impossible to pick up as one. There are many, many flavor combinations . The flavors are pretty good in their distinctness. But the donuts aren't great. As usual for tourist areas, reviews are a bit inflated. But as of this writing there's no where else I know of getting an unhealthy breakfast in this area. We tried a few brick and mortar places without reasonable success. So I'm all in for going to this establishment for a donut and coffee, but don't be fooled: it's not going to be the best donut you've had unless you've been living under a donut rock. I've seen this place on numerous lists of must-visit spots on the island so I decided to give it a try for myself! I came early, around 8 am to beat the crowds. As I don't eat much, I ordered only 1 donut--The Porky Pony, which has honey glaze, cinnamon sugar, and bacon (because one can never turn down bacon as an option, am I right?!?). The donut was made fresh and it was nice and hot when I received it. The donuts here are a cake texture, which I personally prefer over yeast donuts. Not the best donut I've had, but I enjoyed it.
