We arrived at Sandy's for dance shoe fitting, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The store was very clean, and they also have a little play nook for the little siblings. The restroom was also very clean and well stocked. The selection wasn't as wide as I was hoping (I really wanted Capezio ballet shoes for the double strap), and they are a bit pricey, but it is a very nice brick and mortar store with great service. read more

I ordered a pair of point shoes and live out of town. The associate was so nice that took my order and charged me and said I would receive the shoes in 2 weeks. It's been 3 weeks and I have not received them and called the store to follow up. Another associate said they never sewed the ribbons and she would get them sewn and mail them out yesterday which still didn't happen. I just called again and spoke to the manager Maurica and was truly the most awful person I have ever spoken too. She was so rude and even hung up on me. Looking at other reviews it appears this is how she treats customers. BEWARE of Maurica and wondering why such a wonderful store would have this type of manager that treats customer this way! read more

Yesterday I had a jaw-dropping experience of how unprofessional the Manager of Sandy's Dancewear Plano location, Marissa interacted with us, customers. We ordered Nikolay pointe shoes for my daughter from Sandy's Plano store back on July 29.  It was out of stock at the time and had to be ordered.  Over the span of several weeks after the order was placed, we called the Plano store a few times to follow up and kept getting told that it had not arrived yet and that it would take 8 to 10 weeks to arrive.   So yesterday I called the Plano store again to follow up as it has now been about 10 weeks.   First I was told by the employee who answered the phone that she could not find any order by my name, and finally gave the phone to Marissa who said that they did in fact find the order, but it will now take 8 to 12 weeks or maybe even longer.  I expressed my frustration of the situation as any customer would be who had been waiting for the order since July and it's now October and someone who kept getting a different story each time I follow up.  Marissa proceeded to tell me that she will not be spoken to that way and that if I had any problems with the length of time it is taking I should call Nikolay directly.  I said to her that it's not my responsibility to call Nikolay on behalf of Sandy's.  When I asked her for her name, she said "I've already told you my name 3 times" and proceeded to hang up the phone on me.  I called the store again few minutes later and Marissa answered the phone and rudely said "I told you I'll call you when your order arrives" before hanging up the phone a second time.  When I tried to call back a few minutes later, it just kept ringing and went to voicemail. We had been trying to support local DFW dance stores, which is why we purchased my daughter's pointe shoes from this store, when we could have easily ordered directly from Nikolay and it would take less than 10 weeks. I hope the owner will find it worthwhile to address the unprofessional customer service in Sandy's Plano store, particularly from this Manager. read more

Loved our experience. Grace was a huge help and went out of her way to help my very busy kiddo get the exact shoe she needed. As a former dancer and current professional choreographer and actress, who has a performance artists for a daughter, time is always of the essence for us. Sandy's did not disappoint. We came in right before closing, but we were treated with the same attentiveness as if we were there right at opening. Also all the employees were smiling and courteous. Went to buy a few leotards, stockings and various other items. Walked in and I had to greet the staff/young girls who were standing behind the counter chatting as they never greet me. I asked for help in sizes and was told "What is there is what we have". I then asked what size I should get for my daughter (who was there with me - thinking they might measure her or at least eyeball her and suggest a starting point). Rather than giving a hint where to start, the girl said "I don't know, you'll have to try on and see what fits". There were 4 leotards we wanted but no sizes - no offer from the girls to try the other store for me - I had to ask. When she gave a displeased look that she had to make the effort to try the other store I told her not to bother! No one was watching the changing rooms so we couldn't ask for assistance in getting other sizes. I walked into the change room with 11 leotards - no one watching or assisting. I asked for ballet stockings and said what colour I needed. The girl got me a pair - wrong size. She got me another pair - wrong colour. She got me another pair - wasn't the convertible ones I stated I needed. Seems the girls were too busy chatting to assist. Not the cheapest place so you would expect better service. read more

They lost my paid dance shoes twice on two different occasions. Ever since new management started, the quality of service has declined tremendously and they are very unorganized. Lines are longer than ever, no matter what time or which day of the week. Sewing shoes takes much longer. When they make a mistake, they don't own up to it. In fact, they'll say you are the one who bought the wrong shoes until you prove them wrong with the receipt and picture for evidence. There's little communication between staff members. Very sad to see this store decline after 10+ years of being a loyal costumer. read more

I came here to buy ballet and tap shoes for my two daughters. They have never taken dance so we are newbies. They were very helpful and friendly here and knew just what to get for us. Overall, it was a great experience. I didn't give it 5 stars because the prices are too high for me, especially for someone who has kids trying out dance. They didn't have the one's I wanted, but the team member managed to find me a pair that were very similar. The staff at Sandy's has been consistently helpful and knowledgeable. Sadly, I happened to find them open on a Sunday (when they are normally closed) but were running a fitting for a ballet school, exclusively. I went in, to get my daughter a pair of emergency jazz shoes for a class starting the next day as I saw people in there through the window. Now, I realize that they were not technically open, even though, they were, and had staff available to help. I had to beg for them to serve me as I was not a special ballet customer, as my only alternative was to travel to Garland at 5pm on a Sunday (no thanks!). So, one lady (maybe the manager) offered to help me out, recognizing my need. The problem was that when they did eventually, offer to serve me, the lady who did help me was abrupt and patronizing. She was obviously tired and wanted to let me know through her body language that she did not want to be helping me at that moment. I found her a real turn-off. I am not impressed. No good business should turn away customers.At least pretend you are happy to help and then take my money for my purchase!!! I will be looking elsewhere for any future dance needs. read more

If you are looking for dance apparel I highly recommend this place. When we first started ballet we bought the apparel from target (tights ripped after one use). I asked my daughters teacher and she recommended this place. The place has everything and anything that has to do with dance. I stopped by on a day I was super busy so I just needed to get in and out. One of the ladies working asked me what I was looking for and helped me pick the tights I needed. Since I was there and my daughter also needed ballet shoes, I asked to see them. She brought several different pairs and tried them on my daughter. She was super helpful and very knowledgeable about the dance apparel. The tights and the shoes are great quality (feel and look like they will last longer then target). They are a bit more expensive than target but much better quality. I'm all about supporting small businesses, this place is going to be our go to place for dance apparel. read more

Finding any type of dance shoes in Collin County in Women's sizes was turning out to be quite an adventure until I found Sandy's website. Went this last weekend to Sandy's Plano location with my sister to buy a pair of Jazz shoes for her musical theater camp. The store was a madhouse- I am sure this is a busy time of year with everyone getting ready for summer camps and auditions. We signed in for shoe fitting at the register and then wandered around the store. There were 2 people ahead of us on the list. We were called in about 15 minutes and the fitting process was quick and efficient. The salesman explained the pros and cons of different types of Jazz shoes (split sole, tie top vs. slip ons, etc,) and which would be most appropriate for basic dance. I checked out several other dance shops and found Sandy's has a much better selection and prices than most shops that are tied to a dance studio. read more

I shopped here for ballet shoes for my 3 and 5 year old girls. I was very pleased with the service I received from the staff. They fitted my girls for their shoes and answered all my questions. They also have a shoe card, which entitles you to a free pair after the purchase of 4. The prices seemed reasonable and the selection of dance wear seemed really great. I've been using Sandy's for several years now as there is literally no where else to get dance supplies in this area. I have been through jazz, ballet, tap, and now pointe shoes and never had any customer service problems. I've been in the situation as the dad [Jack] where suddenly 2 days before the recital we need beige bodysuits and capri length tights and have to drive an hour to get them. It is frustrating and worse when the Dallas location doesn't have them BUT they have called the Plano store and had them hold items for us twice. Always busy but always good service. I do recommend getting as much as possible in the winter and early Spring as they do run out of some of the basics as late spring and summer recital time hits! read more

A desperate Dad trying to find something last minute that he should have taken care of months ago. We've all been there, right? Not going to rehash the details, but I found myself needing a white leotard in a hurry. I've learned my lesson, no one's fault but my own on that one, certainly not Sandy's Dance Wear's fault that I was in this situation. My wife and I made our first trip to Sandy's to find the outfit needed and were told that there was nothing in stock in the size we needed. Ignorantly, we assumed we could try somewhere else in the Metroplex and find what we needed. Pshaw...rookies. Turns out apparently small white leotards are a hot commodity at recital times. I will say that the staff member who helped us this time around was generally pleasant to work with, hence the two star rating instead of one. After our fruitless search for another supplier, we decided our only option was to head back to Sandy's the next day. Our 45-60 minute commute got turned into an hour and a half by a light rain and suddenly I was perilously close to missing closing time at Sandy's Dance Wear. Being that we were desperate and really had no plan B in mind, my wife called ahead and told them we were almost to their store to make sure they weren't going to leave, but that we should be there before closing. This was somewhere around 5:50. They close at 6. With 8 minutes "to spare" we turned into their parking lot. Upon walking up to the door, we found it to be locked. Just to be absolutely clear on this point...it was not 6 o'clock yet. In fact, once I was let in, I completed my entire transaction and was back in my car before the clock on my car read 6:00. Maybe it is just me, but this is a huge pet peeve of mine. If you're open until 6, STAY OPEN UNTIL 6. If you want to tidy up your store, fine but your store hours are posted for a reason. After the initial shock of the doors being locked, I started to walk to the other door in case maybe they just keep one of the two open that late. Before I could get there, one of the employees mouthed angrily that she was coming and she let me in to the store. She was very belligerent and wanted to know what I wanted. I told her and she virtually yelled at me that they didn't have what I wanted. I told her that I would just take the smallest size that she had. Her response, again on the verge of yelling at me, was that the smallest they had was a 12-14. Much larger than what I needed, but again, I made my own bed on this one. As she pointed out a rack of, presumably, 12-14's, I was picking through the leotards on the upper rack....where I found multiple much more suitable mediums before she chimed in with a "HERE'S A 6-7" and then walked away....again, angrily. A quick checkout later, I will be loathe to ever shop at this store again. Unfortunately for me, for some reason there don't seem to be a TON of dance stores in the metroplex so I might be forced into another trip to Sandy's at some point of my daughter keeps dancing, but I will certainly leave ample time before closing for my visit. Something about the thought of actually staying open until 6 seems to make somewhere there very angry. The truly unfortunate thing here is that the 6-7 is actually exactly what I needed and with even a modicum of customer service Sandy's Dance Wear would be my savior at this point and you'd be reading a ringing endorsement of their store to go along with a 5 star rating. Too bad someone doesn't know how to treat a customer. read more

Seriously disappointing. I've done the majority of my shopping for dancewear here and while I have had some kind employees who (more or less) know their stuff, I really can't stand the management - he is consistently short with me and overall caustic. I've put up with it so far because Sandy's is conveniently located and I need to buy shoes and clothes for class/costuming pretty frequently. I called to see if I could pick up some shoes that had come in, saying I would be able to get there "just before 6" and was told that that's fine "as long as I could get in the door." What?? I would understand if I said I wouldn't be able to get there until after 6, 6:15 or 6:30 but I found his response unnecessarily rude and extremely off-putting. Sorry, but I won't be patronizing a business that treats me that way when I'm practically throwing money at them. I'll drive to Spotlight Dancewear in Lewisville instead, where they have greater product selection in every way and better fitters. read more
