Great local donut shop! Many gas stations in Fargo also carry their donuts, but there's nothing like them fresh from Sandy's.

Visiting Fargo from San Francisco as part of my "50 states" bucket list, I stopped at Sandy's around 1:45pm on Saturday and it looked like they'd been hit by a tornado. By that, I mean, they were sold out of most everything. I heard they were popular and I guess this was the proof! Plus this proves my theory that Fargo locals do not hibernate during the winter like clearly I would be doing if I lived there. I tried the maple bacon long john. It was good, but I thought it was too bacony, in that I feel like the maple:bacon ratio was off. I also tried a peanut butter thing (it was kinda like a peanut butter filled donut with chocolate on top) and an apple-stuffed doughnut that had some delicious filling, for sure. However, I did not think that Sandy's was better than, or as inspired as, the big legendary doughnut places I've tried in Portland or New Orleans or California or whatever. I'm surprised to see a few reviews here that think that Sandy's is better. That said, it's definitely cheaper... And it's entirely possible that I missed the good stuff; their empty shelf space seemed to point to them having sold 80-90% of their inventory for the day by the time I got there, plus I heard the very nice/helpful guy behind the counter say they'd had a "great day" in terms of sales. So I'll give Sandy's the benefit of the doubt, and assume I missed out on the amazing stuff. If I'm every back in Fargo (which is pretty unlikely) I would definitely go back to Sandy's...much earlier in the day. read more

We peered sadly in the window since we were there on a holiday when the West Fargo location was closed, but happily we discovered this location downtown. I've been to some "famous" donut places (Voodoo in Portland, OR; Doughnut Plant in NYC). Sandy's is better, and half the price. Reminds me of some of the terrific little independent donut places in Los Angeles. Everything we tried was good, like the blueberry and the traditional. But the PB & J blew us away! I don't even like jelly donuts normally, but after taking a little bite of my husband's I had to go up and buy a whole one for myself. Good coffee, too. read more

I really want the butterfinger doughnut but it is always sold out every time i walk in.

My coworkers seem to love these donuts. There is a box of them at my job about 3 times per week. They should really have a vegan donut, since it is downtown and I don't think I'm the only one who would enjoy it. They do serve good coffee (from Stumbeanos) with their donuts, so that's a plus. The price seems reasonable. From former Baker for 4 years, the donuts don't always look perfect, but they have a large variety. read more

Fantastic old fashioned tasting donuts. Very clean and bright inside. The best was peanut butter and jelly. So much better than one I had from an over priced shop in Manhattan. Great flavor and not too sweet. Also had the basic sour cream old fashioned, cherry filled, red velvet and blueberry cake. We purchased 6 and went back for a 7th after eating a PB&J. Some were just as good the next day, so no need to finish quickly. Very yummy. read more

Amazing! I'm from Miami, FL and was visiting Fargo for a wrestling tournament. These donuts were awesome! I can't wait till next year to try them again. The donuts are humungous and a dozen doesn't even fit the box. The prices are amazing as well! We bought 26 donuts and paid about $20. A lot of reviews say that they are pricey, but in Miami we just spent $34 on a dozen mini donuts! I will definitely return to this place. I recommend the glazed twist, the oreo donut, and the Bavarian cream long johns. read more

Every single time I go here to try and get a cinnamon roll they out. Finally I asked the gal this morning how early does a person need to be here to get one? By 8:30am on a Sunday was her response. Big 5. Needed donuts for the family. Donuts as good as those from West Fargo, but the downtown location has a different, urban vibe.

Yum!! Donuts are incredibly delicious, service is quick & friendly, and prices are very reasonable. I didn't notice anything other than donuts/similar desserts & a few beverages that were served at this location. I wish they had sandwiches at this location, but begers can't be chosers. read more

Good, quick, and easy. Great deals on doughnuts before close. I like the glaze they use on the glazed doughnuts sweet but not over powering. I would recommend this place to my friends if they were looking for a good place to get a doughnut. read more
