We've had Sanitation Solutions for 5 years and they are fantastic! They never leave a mess and always return my garbage can to the same place. They have also been extremely nice over the phone! I did not expect that! I've called a couple times with a question on whether they pick up particular items. I also love love love that they have a large item pickup day. I don't think they take anything enormous, but they have been accommodating when I needed a bean bag and an ottoman picked up. One time, being a tired mom with a newborn, I missed the truck. We had a ton of garbage that week (newborn baby) so I ran out to the sidewalk and flagged them down as they were leaving my neighborhood. They could have kept driving, many trash services would have, but they stopped and took my garbage without question or complaint. The reason you don't see a ton of reviews and that a couple are bad reviews is people never think about their sanitation company. It's a set it and forget it type service. If they're doing a fantastic job, you'll never see them or notice they were there. But if they mess one thing up one time, you sit up, take notice and blast them on Yelp. Not very happy with this trash company. They're always running late (sometimes well over a day latand when they do finally come by your residence, they dump the recycles in with the trash! I've called to see what I can do to help ensure my recycled products actually get recycled and they assure me no recycled products get thrown away. However, it continued to happen on several occasions. Thinking of switching to another service. Update: Finally decided to cancel the service. I'm not sure what went wrong, but they told me to put my bins out on the street for final pickup but it took them TWO weeks to come get them. And this is with me calling to check in on them once a week. I was worried that my HOA would be angered from two bins being parked long-term on my curb. Unbelievably inept customer service. I had trash strewn across my driveway and street after a pickup one day. I had to pick this trash up on my own. So, I called to let them know about this, but was on hold forever. I decided to use their text system instead. Followed instructions, nobody got back to me. I emailed my issue to them... no response. I left my information for a call back... no response. Finally, I got a hold of customer service a few days later when I called. They transferred me to someone "who could help"... they transferred me to a voicemail. Left a voicemail. Called AGAIN. Same thing. FINALLY spoke to a supervisor who assured me they'd take the charge off my bill (so far, nothing). Presently, I am on hold trying to get an explanation as to why I have been charged for recycling... Horror story of Sanitation Solution customer We put our trash barrels out Monday night for Tuesday pick up. We called Sanitation to complain the barrel of trash wasn't picked up. Long story short, they refuse to pick up the trash because their driver's GPS shows they were here and was told it's their company policy NOT to pick up. These people wrecked my yard, After contacting numerous times and asking the front desk lady to tell the driver to quit using my driveway as a turn around, They continued to use my driveway and turned the edge of my driveway into a mud hole. If I call in they will make some excuse and sometimes pickup the next day or promise to pickup next week and slow me to have double the trash picked up. I was happy with Sanitation Solutions at first until I was home one pickup day and saw their guys throw our recycling into our trash can and dump everything on the truck. I called and was told that they weren't sending a recycling truck down our street because there weren't enough stops, but that the pickup guys were supposed to be bagging our recycling and taking it separately and that it wouldn't happen again. A couple months later, I was home on pickup day again, and I watched it happen again. It took a week of calling and emailing the company to finally get a response, and that response was "We're no longer going to offer you recycling." SS says they are NOT on a contract basis however we did NOT renew as we were in and out of the country and when we returned to move we paid 95.00 to reinstate and then moved and were told we would receive most of our payment back. We never received it and then were told we did not give them prior notice to cancel service ( we were going to transfer service but they did not service our new area) they never returned any portion of the money and we were not receiving service so to pay for a service your not receiving and not get any portion refunded is ridiculous! They are unprofessional and rude and I fully understand why they have such a low rating. They need to work on their professionalism and abide by their NO CONTRACT rules! We have been with them for 15 years. Under the new ownership service has declined. They either miss a pick up for the entire street or they come when they want and always running late. They have missed the last 2 weeks of pick up and when I call the office they always say it it due to mechanical failure of the truck,,, They have used that excuse at least 11 times. And had no excuse other than to put me on hold for 15 mins as to why they skipped an entire week... The driver turns around in my yard and damages my lawn. STAY AWAY as we have finally had enough. This sanitation company tries to get every penny they can out of you. If you have grass clippings in a trash can in a bag they'll take them out and only take household trash. It's only $60 extra charge though if you want your grass clippings picked up. Its trash and been trash for all the years I've lived here until today. I have subscribed to Sanitation Solutions since it's inception, roughly since 2003-04. My initial contact was with Kevin Byrd, owner. There was one major hitch in 2018. I contacted Mr. Byrd about it and he responded by personally coming to to my house. How often does that happen? I enjoyed the reunion with him and the problem was quickly resolved. Because of a change of lifestyle, I admitted to him that a weekly pickup wasn't needed anymore. He offered twice a month at half cost. Ideal. In this unheralded business, no one is perfect. Worst Collection Service that I have ever had. The garbage men that work my route treated the trash in the cans better than my actual garbage can itself. They broke a trash can lid completely off the base can and apparently if it isn't their can, they don't care. They spill oil every week when they pick up the Trash. When they use the hydraulics to compress the trash it spurts oil onto your road in front of your Driveway.. We have had nothing but issues with Sanitation Solutions! They have left a mess in the cul-de-sac many times. And, if you think they are recycling! I will tell you they are not! They have one truck that empties both cans into the same truck and I have watched this for the last year and have video to back the statement up! Upon notifying them, they assured me that they were recycling. Maybe, the EPA should be notified of their practice. Since the do get funding for recycling. This week, our normal pickup day is Wednesday. It is now Friday and our trash has yet to be picked up even after calling them to notify them of the failure to pick up. I called this company to ask a simple question about my service in which they were negligent for. Before i could get done asking the OWNER (Kevin Bird) this question. I was immediately met with a barrage of slurs and anger that was unwarranted. Unbeknownst to me, Apparently he was upset on the volume of calls they were receiving that day. As a business owner my self i recognize that each customer has their own individual set of issues, and each need to be addressed differently and accordingly. I was truly upset to realize that Mr. Bird could not accurately convey his point to me over the phone but had to result to slurs and raising the tone in his voice which immediately taken the conversation to a point of disrespect. It's important that i deal with individuals that are able to express themselves without throwing tantrum's like a child. I am canceling my subscription. Your customer service has left a horrible taste in my mouth. In no way did i deserve the lack of courtesy presented. Since the day that Gwinnett County Government made its residents use Sanitation Solutions, it has been one bad experience after another. I live on a busy street and multiple times I have come home to find my can in the middle of my driveway. I can't just stop in the road, get out and put it to the side just to pull in my driveway. I wind up going next door, walk across the yard to move the can and then wait sometimes over 10 minutes to be able to turn left to come home. I've taken pictures of this, called Sanitation Solutions and even watched as the trash guys do this. On a couple of occasions, I have had a couple of bags more than the big can will hold without the lid being open a little and instead of piling it on top of the can or put the two bags on the ground, I have used a small green trash can to contain the extra bags. I've put the green can right in front of the big can so they would get that trash as well and both times, I've had to call because they physically move the green can to get to the big one and do not empty the green one. The first time this happened, I called and they came out and got the trash but have no doubt, they were not happy because I found the lid to the green can up in my neighbor's yard. It had been tossed up there. Yesterday, I called because it wasn't picked up and I received a voice message stating that they only pick up one can and would not send someone out just for my one can. I called and spoke to the same person (although she claims it wasn't her but I just heard the message and it was her). Very nasty lady. Told me I could pay extra money and they would bring another big can to my house and I could use that. Apparently they want you to look like you own the sanitation company by having multiple cans. For $36.00 more a quarter, they can do this. Well, no thank you. I will just pile my garbage like I see everyone else do and not try to keep the extra bags contained to where animals can't get to it or traffic going by won't make it go into the street (I have 18 wheelers going up and down this road during the night). Why should we have to pay extra money just to get 2 bags of garbage picked up out of an extra can? And why did they come pick it up the first time they missed it? The lady told me that they were most likely just being nice. Nope, she also explained that they just signed a new contract with Gwinnett County Commissioners and they call the shots. So the last time, they had not been reassigned the glorious duty of picking up our garbage but now that they have, they want us to pay dearly for their services. That's fine but like I said, I will pile it to the sky from now on. What a nasty lady that was who I talked to just now and had a message from today. I've had SSI for so many years I can't remember, but probably close to 10 years. They were great for a long time, to the extent of one time somone stole my can (I know, who steals a nasty can right?) and they actually found it and returned it to me, though it was beat to hell. They brought me a new one some time later. Anyway, in recent months I've noticed that the pickup times were random, sometimes early morning and sometimes near 7 at night. Then they started just not picking up my trash from time to time. The last three times I have called the office and complained, and they either sent the truck back right then or picked it up in the morning. The whole time, I have also had my own full size trash can that maybe once every 6 weeks or so I would also put out on the curb and they picked it up without question. About a month and a half ago, they didn't pick it up. I was irritated but figured the guy on the truck was just being lazy. Then they didn't pick up at all the next week. Another call to the office and another random excuse I didn't care to hear. Then today I had a lot of trash, filled both cans and a couple boxes as we cleaned out the garage. They took their can, dumped the excess in it out next to my personal can, and left it everything else. When I called in they said they charged an additional $30 a month (or billing cycle one) for a second can. When I asked when that started they said it had always been that way....and when I said I've had a second can the whole time I've been a customer I heard those crickets chirping sounds. So instead of just picking up the can of extra trash 4 or 5 times a year (and many weeks I don't even put a can out so they weren't losing anything) they basically said sorry can't help you. So I said no problem, when is my service paid up until and I won't be using you anymore. And a side note, they were charging me $54 a quarter for service and claimed everyone was charging near the same. In 10 minutes I had signed up for a new company at $36 a quarter for the same service. It's a dam shame as I used this company because of the head hanchos was a customer of mine at my automotive facility and he was a great dude who made sure customer service was a priority.......now their service stinks as bad as the garbage they pick up. read more
