As soon as I walked into this store, I was surprised to see a statue of Gudetama on rice and I knew immediately that I had to take a picture with it. The employees there were super nice and helped me take a pic of me with it. This store was definitely dominated by Gudetama when I visited it, which I loved since I'm obsessed with the character. The store itself was not too big, but enough to contain a lot of stuff and a bunch different characters including the Twin Stars, KeroKeroPi, and Hello Kitty of course as well as many others. A store to visit for any Sanrio fan. It has a decent selection of items. I would say it's good for most characters especially the popular ones such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Cinnamon Roll. They do have a limited selection of goods for other characters such as PPP with maybe a handful of items but nothing grand. REGARDLESS, the stores is great just to look at and it has so many cute things inside and I am sure you will find something overall from any of the characters they do have and love it. I mean this store wasn't really true to a, "Sanrio." Like, they sold other things, like fashion stuff. This is the cutest store ever! I knew it would be worth my time when I saw the line outside to get in. We were all pretty amped on the line chatting about going inside the store. They all knew something I didn't, there was a 75% off sale in the back corner. I got so many cool things and one of the jackets that I wanted They didn't have my size so the manager offered to call Hollywood store and have them hold it for me. It was super sweet of him. Rage!! Den of Rage!! Sanrio Japanese Village continues to bring out fun and happiness for all with the latest being their temporary pop up; Aggretsuko's Den of Rage. Aggetsuko is Sanrio's red panda and perhaps my second favorite character (after Hello Kitty of course ;)). She's a hard working office worker by day and we get to experience that in this pop up that has a super cute display of her office. When her stress and frustrations from work get to her however; she goes into a state of "rage" and hence the Den of Range. Sanrio Japanese Village has temporarily been transformed into this Den of Rage. There's lots of Aggretsuko merchandise currently available and there are plenty of character cutouts and displays. There's even a mini karaoke setup in the back with microphone. Once awhile you can even see Aggretsuko pop out to work at her disk or to sing her raging heart out. I really love how they brought out this character's world to life. No rage for this fan...only love for this store. read more

If you wanna wait in a 5-10 minute line in the heat for the "we say we're Sanrio but really we have maybe 3 items per character and Christmas Merch in July" store, this is the place. I usually love this store and how I know it'll always have a variety of merchandise of all characters, but when I went last week, (and took my Sanrio loving partner with) they had 3 items of his favorite character, and really they only had a handful of other characters. Hello Kitty time! Jules Y. and I came here last year when we were on vacation in Los Angeles. This Sanrio shop is located in Little Tokyo at the Japanese Village Mall. We appreciate Sanrio stores more because there's only one shop left in Honolulu. Seeing merchandise in person is better than buying online because you get to touch the item, feel the quality, try it on for size, and see the actual colors in the daylight vs. under fluorescent lighting. It's fun to look at the new items as well as clearance items. Jules bought a red holiday sweatshirt which she put to good use! I was just happy to be there and enjoy the cuteness of Hello Kitty, My Melody, and the rest of the Sanrio characters! I went back to this store this year to look for a calendar that Jules got last year. It seems like Sanrio didn't make a 2018 calendar... so sad... We even looked online. Great selection at this Sanrio store. They not only had all the obligatory Hello Kitty items, but also had a pretty good selection of some of the side characters in the Sanrio universe, including Badtz Maru, Gudetama and their newest character, everyone's favorite ragey metalhead red panda office worker Aggretsuko! ;p Prices for some items were crazy high. $9 for a pen? OK I'll admit I bought one of those pens. Sanrio was totally my jam when I was in junior high, my favorite being Keroppi. Tin boxes, drawstring pouches, pencils, pens, erasers, memo pads, stickers, planners... the list goes on! I didn't knock on the other characters, as I loved them all as well (My Melody, Little Twin Stars, Monkichi, Pompompurin. etc.). It always seemed like a non-verbally stated competition of who had the most and/or the newest items (YES, YOU BEST BELIEVE I'VE ALWAYS WON), but it was also the fact that the items were just way too cute and way too irresistible to not purchase! Stepping inside a Sanrio store, it always gives me sweet nostalgia. This particular location, located in downtown Little Tokyo, is set-up by the characters - they have handbags, tote bags, coin purses, wallets, backpacks, clutches, cosmetic pouches, home and kitchen decor, items for pets, edible snacks, lunch bags, stationery items, calendars, planners, pens, pencils, luggage, some apparel, hair accessories, and even plush toys. I love this store. It is the only store worth visiting in Little Tokyo, in my opinion. They carry everything Sanrio, and not just Hello Kitty. The store always seems to be crowded, too. There are many young girls shopping with their mothers. They have a great selection of merchandise, and well thought out displays. The store layout is definitely bright, colorful, and inviting. They sell quite the selection of apparel. They also sell the usual plushies and accessories. I enjoy walking through the store, looking at everything they have to offer. I am like a kid in a candy store, except the candy is expensive. Then again, Sanrio merchandise has always been expensive. The young employees are polite, and busy stocking the shelves. I really loved what they did with this place! I went here about two or three weeks ago for an event that involved Sanrio and Fragrant Jewels collaborating together to release a new Hello Kitty Bath bomb and candle set. The store was a lot more brighter and the displays were so cute with the front part of the store having merchandise specifically for each character and the back portion looking like a super market. Almost every available space was filled to the brim with Hello Kitty and Friends products. It was definitely interesting having a release party in this place with so many people in attendance, but it worked! They had a DJ by the door, a back drop outside that you could take pictures with, small pastries on the register counter, and tons of giveaways for the raffle. Even Hello Kitty made her appearance a couple of times. They had multiple workers on the floor monitoring the inventory and making sure everyone who was looking at the merchandise was assisted in finding what they needed. It was a fun experience and though their line of products may be a bit pricey for my liking, I really enjoyed seeing how enthusiastic Hello Kitty Fans were at the event. read more

There was a like to get in but I didn't mind because it keeps the store from being overly crowded. We waited about 10 min me and my two daughters . It was a busy Saturday .
