I honestly just looked for a place that had a non alcoholic wine. Although the nonalcoholic wine wasn't from croma ($30 for bottle), it allowed me to take my dad out and enjoy with him. OMG I saw good ratings on Yelp and decided to take my husband for a tasting. Love the fact it's not too far away. The owner Mindy's husband served us, sorry forgot his name, might have been Chris. He was excellent and answered all my husband's questions. My husband and I shared a tasting of 6 wines along with cheese pairing. I'm not kidding I loved all 6. So we joined the wine club. You can choose 6, 12 etc bottles, twice a year and pick whatever you want. We got 2 different Albariño's, 3 different Tempranillo's and 1 Grenache. Hard to choose but we have cabs etc already at home. We sat inside but there is also outside seating and a nice bathroom. Can't wait for the pick up party. read more

The tasting room is in that new, cool, funky area of SLO known as Duncan Alley, which has a collection of tasting rooms and even a brewery. Enjoyed the wine in their intimate tasting room. If you love wine like I do please do yourself a favor and check this place out! The new San Luis Obispo tasting room is open and is absolutely amazing. It even has a back patio that connects to the creek. I am very glad I found this place through an online recommendation. The wine is unique and absolutely delicious. The gentleman in the tasting room was very knowledgeable and easy going, he has a passion for what he does. I cannot wait to go back and try more wines. I came home with a few bottles and did a tasting flight. This place is on my list to go back again soon! It should be on yours as well!! read more

Ehhhh. This place was fine, but I won't be back. The gentleman working was really high on his own supply since he kept referring to his excellent wine palette since he was a "som" aka sommelier. Both my group and a group that was visiting from Lompoc came to taste the wine that apparently you can only taste if you buy the bottle. The guy was really upset that the Chamber of Commerce had sent both of us there to taste that wine and that we were all bummed that we weren't allowed to taste it and less we bought the bottle. Of course, I'm not gonna spend $60 on a bottle of wine just because somebody tells me to "trust him because he's a som." I started talking to my date about having excellent Tempranillo in Spain in Andorra and he totally shot in and started talking about his tasting experience all over the world. Eye roll. The only wine worth drinking was Albariño. I bought it for an older relative. Other than that, this place was a huge pass. read more

Croma Vera is a great little tasting room on the edge of downtown. For $12, you have 6 1-oz pours from their diverse range of Spanish varietals. The room is small - they can probably only accommodate 8 people at the tasting bar - and it does have a small boutique area. Parking is very easy as it is in a little shopping center, but this can make it challenging to find the store. The wine stewards are very welcoming and knowledgeable. The wine is eclectic - all very drinkable and reflects a range of styles. I loved two of them and am certain that most California wine drinkers would find something that they like. Highly recommended if you are in town, and love that they are open until 6PM (whereas most other places close at 5PM). read more

Went to the soft opening for their tasting room last weekend, and it was magnificent. The winery specializes in Spanish varietals -- or is it varieties? I can't remember the appropriate term. In any event, if I could take a bath in their Albariño, I'd be tempted (although that would keep me from drinking it, of course, which would be sad). It's crisp and refreshing, and we have a few bottles laid away for the remaining hot days in SoCal before Fall sets in. They also have a really terrific rosé and a delectable Tempranillo available at the tasting room, and we have a few bottles of them as well. The room itself is reminiscent of their wines; clean and crisp, easily approachable, with attention to detail but no fussy extras. The owners, Chris and Mindy, are genial hosts, and they are able (and willing) to tell you as much -- or as little -- about the wines as you care to know. There's plenty of seating and side tables about, so you don't have to belly up to the bar for the duration of your stay. Avila Beach is a beautiful little town, and you don't get the hectic tour bus traffic that has made Napa and Sonoma more challenging and less relaxing. There's also plenty of tasty food to be had nearby along the 101 (we had an excellent brunch at the Shell Cafe in Pismo Beach, but that's another review for another time). The wines are very reasonably priced, and, as per usual, you get a discount if you join the club, which we did. Since they are a small producer, their wines aren't widely available as yet, so we wanted to be sure we got our share. [Or maybe even a little more than our share, especially when it came to the Albariño.] Croma Vera is our happy little tasting room secret right now, but I suspect it won't be for long. Stopped in just in passing off the street/beach to try some wine. $12 for a tasting signed me up for 5 wine tastes- they were generous pours and on top of that- I was given a sixth for free. Maybe it was just that bartender was in a good mood. Ended up paying $30 for the 2 of us because that's what it felt worth! Very cute little spot too. We sat at the bar but they had nice seating areas around inside. It's one of about 4-5 storefronts that advertise tastings along the Avila pier. read more
