Full transparency - I DIDN'T go on a wine tour with SB Taste BUT, that goes to show how much of a gentleman the owner, Michael is. Booked one through the Yelp tool which was automatic but never got a confirmation or anything. I told my girlfriend about my plan for my birthday and she surprised me with a wine tour herself. Called to tell Michael that I had to cancel and rather than be bitter, he was giving me recommendations on where to go, which winery has the best type of wine, etc. etc. Just based off of giving great recommendations (which I'll be using) despite me cancelling my tour with him shows a lot of class. The short: if you're looking for a highly personalized and exclusive-feeling wine tasting experience... I highly recommend Michael and Santa Barbara Taste. The longer: My boyfriend and I were looking to do a private wine tasting for the two of us. I contacted Michael a month or so in advance, was able to pre-pay by credit card (yes - points!!), and found Michael to be so warm and helpful. We got picked up exactly on time in a Mercedes truck and drove 45 minutes to Santa Ynez. We started at Grassini family vineyards - where Jared led us through an incredible tasting experience, and gave us a tour of the property, including the wine cellar and wine production areas. Michael had set up an adorable picnic for us near the lake, but we weren't quite hungry yet, so without question - he picked up and we moved onto the next spot. It was pretty hard to top Grassini, but Roblar Vineyard was beautiful, had such nice staff and an outdoor area where Michael set up a second picnic for us - complete with paninis, chips & glass plates, silverware and cloth napkins. For our last stop, Michael gave us options: we opted to go into Los Olivos - a cute little town with tons of tasting rooms and bars. We had another tasting included and he gave us some free time to drunkenly wonder around town (aka walk across the street). We did Dragonette's tasting room, which was good (but at this point we were both pretty drunk) and then popped across the street, so we could try local beer. He arranged for our fabulous limo bus to pick us up from San Fernando valley take ya to Santa Barbra for the wine tour and then drop us back off. My entire bday experience was fun. Seriously, Mike from Santa Barbara Taste was AMAZING!! I worked with Mike to plan a wine tasting tour for my sister's bachelorette party in Santa Ynez. Mike was SUPER GREAT to work with! He made it SO easy on me and set up three great winery experiences for us. He had great communication before the tour date and really initiated all communication to make sure I would be happy with the customized tour. Even though our tour ran late, Mike stopped the bus at a liquor store on our way home so that we could pick up snacks and more drinks for that night. If he had said no, I really would have understood, but he said yes. It was SO SO SO nice of him and all the girls really appreciated it. The party bus was ridiculously fun!! We absolutely loved that the bus could hold up to 20 people and loved how the seats went around the bus instead of in rows like a normal bus... It made it really easy to all talk and laugh together (even with a large group of 16 girls). Mike was really helpful suggesting winery locations and making the reservations. That would have taken me a lot of time and I really appreciated it. He also suggested where we could order lunch and he picked lunch up for us and delivered it to us at one of the wineries. He even helped pass out all of the food. It really felt like he went above and beyond to take care of our group. On our tour we went to Arthur Murray (had a great tasting and lunch on their gorgeous patio), then we went to Bridlewood which was stunning (we wanted to be outside so we purchased a few bottles of wine and went outside to relax on the grass picnic style) and then we went to Vincent where we did a tour of the winery and then sat down on their patio for a blind wine tasting. We even got a visit from the owner who was fascinating! It turned out that he was the choreographer for the bachelorette's favorite movie... so we had lots of questions for him. :) ). Bridlewood was my favorite. It is super pretty there and the wine was great. Having such different experiences at all three wineries made the tour even more special. We visited 4 beautiful wineries in Santa Ynez and Figueroa Mountain brewery - all of which were fantastic! Our host, Mike, was an all star. Very knowledgeable about wine and the Santa Ynez valley. Michael picked us up in a Mercedes truck at the Santa Ynez Inn for 3 hours of wine tasting. We got stuck in some construction coming over the mountains and he was totally cool about it, didn't seem annoyed or bothered at all. He was dressed so adorable, in a bowtie and had a bright and cheery personality! It was exactly what we needed after a long stressful drive!! Since the day had been sort of thrown off we asked him at our second vineyard if there was any way we could book him for another hour and he said of course and instantly updated the booking for us online. What a great way to experience and celebrate The Nubian Queens Literary Club's 20th Anniversary by booking a wine tour with Michael, it was amazing! Now for a brief summary: Twenty-three women were picked up in Los Angeles at 9:00 a.m. on the dot and transported to Santa Barbara in a party bus. Let me tell you these women like to have fun so it was a party in route to our destinations. Because we traveled far, we only visited three wineries in Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara throughout the day. There was only one hiccup at Santa Barbara Winery that had nothing to do with Michael, as he was told there were accommodations for 23 women. Unfortunately, some of us were sitting on tables instead of chairs for the wine taste. Jason who worked for the winery was very apologetic and made up for it by giving the group a huge discount on our wine purchases. I am giving a Shout out to Aldo the driver who made sure we got to our destinations and back - safe and sound. Overall, the ladies and I had a great time. He helped me set up the places to go and knew which wineries welcomed large parties. We were all amazed at how nice the bus was and loved that he had an iPad in the back with Spotify and pandora so we could play whatever we wanted. He also was so welcome to take photos of us at each winery! I would highly recommend SB Taste and Michael! I have had a few experiences on wine buses and this was by far my best experience. He also did a great job of herding the troops to make sure we were on our schedule (which is what I asked him to do before we started drinking but he said he was free the whole day so we could go longer if we wanted). Amazing! Micheal was the best. I hired him for a bachelorette party based on his great yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did. Prior to the big event he was very available to collaborate through text, email and phone. I had wanted to decorate the limo for the bachelorette party and he was 100% willing to accommodate me on that. He recommended places for tastings and places to get lunch. The day of the tour He showed up on time and looked super adorable. His Limo was clean and stocked with water and sparkling wine. I wasn't expecting the limo to be as big as it was, it was huge and very comfortable. There was music playing and we were able to use pandora on the ipad to change the music if we wanted, it was so easy and user friendly. He treated us all like royalty all day, helping us in and out of the limo bus ( we all wore crazy heels), He took group pictures for us. Even the wineries love him, we got a discount at one of our tasting spots because they love Micheal so much. I highly recommend his service to anyone throwing a bachelorette party. He picked up lunch for us and helped me put together tables at one of our tasting spots. My company hired Santa Barbara Taste for four days, to run a private media tour. Mike, the owner of SB Taste and our driver for the duration, was the ideal person to handle our transportation needs. Working with so many different media personalities can sometimes be difficult, but Mike handled it with ease. He was very flexible, working with us to adjust our schedule as needed day-by-day, even extending hours at the last minute in order to allow the media to stay late at a dinner. He was also very courteous to all of the passengers, ensuring that everyone was as comfortable as possible. I overhead a passenger ask Mike for sparkling water which wasn't available in the limo at the time, so while the passenger was at a dinner Mike drove out to get him some.... And not only was Mike the perfect person for this project, but the vehicle was beautiful and consistently spotless.
