Because of our schedule we could only do the afternoon tour with two wineries, but it was still a great experience. The second winery was especially wonderful -- they clearly knew Rick, the service was warm and welcoming, and you could tell everyone genuinely enjoyed what they do. The first winery was beautiful, although the service there was a bit slow. What really stood out was that Rick went out of his way to give us recommendations for things to do afterward, which made the whole day feel very personalized. Tours can always be a little daunting but our experience was 10 stars throughout the entirety. We actually wished there was more time! I am SO GLAD I chose Wine Canyon Tours to celebrate my 30th birthday! We had a private tour of three of the most beautiful wineries I've ever seen. He arrived exactly on time, in a beautiful and air conditioned buss. He was dressed professionally, super nice, accommodating and friendly. He went above and beyond every step of the way. He took us to a gorgeous lake which is pictured below, then we went to three beautiful wineries and an olive oil tasting. I have had the privilege of taking four wine tours with Wine Canyon Tours, and eagerly look forward to the next trip. My friend and I try to take a girls trip to Santa Barbara at least every few years and wine tasting is always at the top of the list (just behind staying at the Biltmore). In 2011, we found WCT online and liked that the website showed a photo of Rick (the owner) and his dog; it felt personal and like a nice vibe. We chose wisely, as Rick showed us a great time. He was super friendly, but laid back, knowledgeable about wine, but not in an over-the-top kind of way, had a comfortable ride and made sure we were well taken care of. We toured with Rick twice on that trip. On our last trip out west in 2016, we also toured with WCT twice. Rick's company had grown in those few years and our great experience got even better; the vehicles were upgraded, comfy as can be, and plenty of room for our cases of wine in the back. On our first outing, we went with Rick and he gave us an amazing VIP tour, visiting ranches and tasting rooms that you would never see on your average tour. Rick is very well connected and respected in the industry, which I'm sure aids in these 'special visits'. My friend and I are very interested in wine (snobs, if you will) and after learning what we liked, Rick tailored our trip to meet our tastes and interests. The second tour of that trip we toured with Dave, who is also awesome. As soon as I stepped foot into the vehicle and heard Scarlett Begonia's playing, I knew he was a good fit. Musical tastes aside, Dave is an absolute wealth of knowledge and we learned so much about local history, the Chumash people, Channel Islands and more. We had selected a few tasting rooms that we wanted to visit that day, and Dave filled in the gaps beautifully, taking us to wineries that we were not yet familiar with, yet became instant fans. Lunch on the dock at Pence, watching the grebes swimming and red winged back birds dive into the reeds is a particularly fond memory. I should have written this review some time ago, but as I prepare to visit SBC wine country again, I am reminded of our incredible past trips. We were wanting to do wine tasting in Santa Barbara but due to Covid private tours were only available. We ended up going with Wine Canyon Tours and couldn't have chosen better! We started off the morning by getting picked up by the owner Rick and headed to a first winery called Bella Cavalli. All I can say is WOW. It was by far the most peaceful wine tasting I ever had and the grounds were beautiful. We had the pleasure of tasting wines alongside the winery owner. We were so impressed by his hospitality and such fine wines, we ended up purchasing a wine membership there. I have done a few wine tours in the Santa Barbara area, and this by far was the best experience of them all. We took the train from LA to Santa Barbara, and our driver Rick picked us up straight from the train station right on time. He drove us to three amazing wineries based on our taste preferences - all were great but my favorite was the first one called Beckman. Wine was outstanding and they gave huge pours! The second winery called Vincent was fun too as we got a tour of all the wine barrels and got to taste straight from the barrel! Rick was so knowledgable and friendly- he truly made an effort to get to know us and chat with us the entire way. He even included an olive oil tasting for us and a Starbucks stop on the way back to the train station.
