This is a very fun dive bar that seems to have a blood beef with Holiday World across the street. They don't have any local beers, and their food is bar food. Great onion rings. read more

Brewery #283 Santa Claus Brewery needs a lot of help. I pulled up to the parking lot and wasn't sure where the entrance was because there was a worker loading supplies in through the only door I saw. I walked to the side and saw a set of stairs to a second floor door and thought this can't be it. So I walked back and asked the employee where the entrance was and he shook his head in disgust and pointed to the door that he had blocked with supplies. I climbed over all the stuff that the extra from Deliverance loaded here and proceeded inside. Inside was that of a VFW hall or Lions Club lodge, it lacked any kind of style. I really don't care about that part per se as long as the beer is good. They had a metal rack with merchandise just laying around in a mess that rivaled a Target at the end of a Black Friday sale. The bar was a disorganized mess too and the beer was listed on a dry erase board. They only had a few and it wasn't clear if they brewed them all or not. I mean the Words "Cider" doesn't give me a lot of information. I got my flight and the beer was ok but nothing special. I learned their beer is actually brewed at St Benedict's Beer Works in Ferdinand Indiana. I don't know how the food is but from a simple atmosphere and organizational standpoint, they could improve this place a lot with just a little work read more

We just had the new -not on the menu yet- Steak Quesadillas. Thick, juicy and delicious with fresh cross cut fries! I asked for a side of ranch to dip my delicious crosscut fries in. That ranch sauce tasted homemade! I make really good ranch at home. The only thing I would ask the next time I order it- and I will soon- is to either not cut the quesadilla at all, or only cut it in half. I didn't want to wait for it to get cold and the two middle pieces out of the four were hard to contain. I still ate every last drop. I also had a glass of "Nun Dragon" beer that they make. -YES- ! I liked it VERY much. Not completely sure what the ingredients are, but it had a slight coffee flavor that I really enjoyed. I wish YELP could have had a gathering here. The location is fairly new , and the brew offerings are always challenging in a great way. That said- the food menu is changing not only to include the steak Quesadilla. This is such a hidden gem RIGHT by Holiday World! Their craft beer is seriously awesome. (They have a full bar as well.) The food is what I think of as "tavern food." Burgers, pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks, etc. It's nothing fancy but it's served HOT and fresh and really hits the spot. The pretzel bites and sticks are the best I've ever eaten, and the cheese sauce that comes with it is outstanding. It's not quite queso, not quite beer cheese. Whatever it is, do yourself a favor and order some. It's a super kid-friendly place. There is a kids menu and plenty of other popular choices. There is always a stack of coloring books and a big basket of crayons. Plus you can't beat a Santa statue for capturing kids' attention. The service is friendly and fast, and so accommodating. We love this place for a post Holiday World meal! read more

Never have enough staff when we visit, they should at least have a dedicated bartender. Wishes 1.Beers should colder. 2.Food should come out at the same time. The pizza arrived with burnt crust and after everyone's was done, out come tasty waffle fries and corndogs. 3. To know why is there a dehumidifiers running beside my table? I keep popping in and occasionally grab a growler. Hope they figure out the process and succeed. read more

Food was great and the staff was as well. Probably the best meal we've had in Santa Claus Indiana.

We ordered a chicken basket of 12 chicken pieces, with two sides and rolls. First, the rolls were the best I've had since 1974. Awesome, and I will return just for the rolls probably. They also have thin crust pizza, which I intend to try some day. The food is fresh and modestly spiced, lower sodium than most chicken places, so they don't force anything on anyone and they are health conscious. The area is German, which is like Cajun cuisine in usually going more hot than spicy, but it isn't overly hot. Like I said, they don't force anything on anyone. There is a nice, Christmas atmosphere, and the staff is very helpful. My only complaint is that I would rather have spicy chicken like KFC than hot chicken like Popeye, but they try to be a bit in the middle, though they go more towards hot and less spicy. Next time, I will take the chicken home and add stuff like garlic, salt, cilantro, marjoram, and maybe jalapeno (the pepper that is more juicy and spicy than hot). I will order extra rolls. They are that good. read more

I really wanted to like this, but they need help in a lot of areas. the entrance of the building is totally devoid of signage, color or any welcoming signs, we actually weren't sure we were in the right place. the inside is lacking any kind of background music or tv so you hear every single conversation. it also smells like a basement despite the dehumidifier in the room. kitchen does not know how to time meals to come out together and they were out of items on their very limited menus. wait staff never once said, thank you, or ask about food or goodbye. I hope someone comes into the management that can improve on at least some of this. as for now I won't be back for a long time. read more
