It's just a train stop and that's it, but a very important one I would imagine for locals and tourists alike. I waited here for the rail runner train to Albuquerque, which arrived perfectly on time, and was painless to figure out even for a visitor like me. You just wait based on the schedule, it shows up, and you can buy your ticket online or on-board. You can also buy a day pass, which is worth it if you plan to ride more than one way, a significant savings. This stop has a large parking lot for commuters, and bike lockers for those who routinely would bike to and/or from the stop. It's right in the heart of the downtown area of Santa Fe, and there are plenty of places to eat, drink, and shop nearby while you wait. For me, it was an excellent junction point for my trip. Served it's purpose, this public transit is GREAT, and the ABQ/Santa Fe area is lucky to have it. read more

Ok, so the price jumped almost 400% from $2.50 to $9 in less than a year? And, yes, someone had to write the one-star review, complaining that there is no shade. I would hate to see his review of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. No shade, no benches, sheep poop everywhere! One star of Bethlehem! Still, there's no faster, cheaper, easier, and safer way to get from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, if you so choo-choo-choose. It's convenient because you don't have to get there early to get a ticket, or deal with a machine, or even make sure you have cash. The friendly crew comes by to sell you tickets while you sit there and pretend your feet weren't on the chair in front of you. They don't like that. There are no layovers like airports or transfers like buses or weird colored lines like subways. The trains are clean and comfortable. Sometimes the guys on the speaker sound like you're on Big Thunder Railroad- I almost expected him to say "this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness". I wish they had wi-fi, especially now that I know they raised their prices. Maybe I *should* throw some shade since they don't got none. read more

I had an amazing experience traveling from Santa Fe to ABQ . 2.50$ for a lovely ride took a little over an hour. There was also a bus waiting at the ABQ depot to take people to the airport for free, the gentleman who was driving was so kind and helpful and I tried to tip him but he wouldn't take it, he deserved it though!! read more

By far the best way to travel I-25. Ugh I hate the drive to Santa Fe from Albuquerque. I love sitting back and relaxing while the smooth train takes me! It is super clean and you can sit in the upper car which is what I do. Some seats have tables. Super comfortable. Buy your tickets online through the app. That's the easiest for me. There is also security in the night. I was approached by a man saying he had just gotten out of jail and can I give him money for a ticket to Albuquerque, while I waited for the train at night. Immediately the security guy had the man turn around and walked him away in a really respectful manner. He was really nice to the man and de-escalated the situation in a peaceful way. This saved our trip to New Mexico over this week with a snow storm that closed off most of the major roads in town. My husband and I flew into Albuquerque with plans to rent a car and road trip into Santa Fe and Taos. We made many lodging resevations in advance. Little did we know, we were due to arrive in a severe, last-minute snow storm that pummeled down over most of New Mexico. After landing in Albuquerque and having some beers with some awesome locals (NM folks are the friendliest people around), we got some valuable advice and canceled our car reservation. They recommended we take the Rail Runner train to Santa Fe, and so we did. Fantastic experience. Only 4 bucks from Albuquerque to Santa Fe with a student discount. The train is clean and and comfortable, with places to chill out and charge your phone. Best of all, we didn't lose our lodging reservations and we got to experience everything except for Taos. The trip was a little under 2 hours, the same projected time for driving if the roads were open. We saw blizzardy, white blanketed landscapes in a clean and comfy ride instead of white-knuckling it on icy roads for hours. I would take this train even if the weather was sunny and warm. There are free shuttles all over Santa Fe once you arrive. No need for a car, whatsoever. The Rail Runner kicks ass. Don't hesitate to use it. Spread the word!!!! read more

Great way to get around in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. I take the train 3 days a week from Placitas to Santa Fe Depot to commute to work and really enjoying the ride. It is less stressful then dealing with the drive and then parking, I sit back and listen to podcasts. The staff are very friendly and it is very safe. The conductors are pleasant, especially Sheldon and Luis they are always smiling and if you are lucky Sheldon will belt out a tune. I would definitely recommend taking the train and go spend the day in Santa Fe and enjoy a relaxing day! read more

This was pretty great. We knew parking was limited in Santa Fe so we just decided to try this out. $20 round trip for two people was definitely fair. Easy to find parking at a local garage and was easy to get to the train station. Beware that not all of the cars have a bathroom on them. Great view of all the Pueblos and the Sandia mountains. Just make sure you know the schedule back otherwise you might be marooned! Lots of things to see from the windows but listen to the conductor announcements as they forbid you from taking pictures through certain pueblos. read more

Begin your Santa Fe fanta-say here. This is my favorite depot for the Rail Runner in Santa Fe, mainly due to its relative vicinity to the Railyard Market, the Plaza and adjacent awesome restaurants, cafes and businesses. The depot itself is pretty ho-hum, I don't believe there's any shelter next to the tracks so, you know, wear sunscreen and beware the once-a-month rain in these parts. There's parking for commuters headed south, and wifi on the train. One oft-overlooked joy of living in Albuquerque is the backyard getaway that is Santa Fe. Put this on your vacation schedule, Burqueño: breakfast in downtown ABQ on Saturday morning, hop the 9am train. Read your newspaper or phone or actually have a conversation as your climb through Bernalillo and reservation land on the train -- it's going to take a good 90 minutes to arrive up north. Get off at this station, wander the Plaza, grab an Uber and check out a show or a brewery or Ten Thousand Waves, get a room at a NoTell. Better yet, bring your bike. Brunch the next morning, then hop the southbound at 10:45am. That's a relatively inexpensive helluva good time, right here at home. read more

The very best way to travel between Santa Fe, New Mexico and Albuquerque is to ride the Rail Runner. It is a commuter train that makes the run between the two cities just about painless. But there were a few issues that I will elaborate on which cost the Rail Runner 1 YELP STAR. This train is scheduled for commuters and not so much tourists like me. You have the crack of dawn train at dusk. Then there is a 1 p.m. midday train that I took. Finally, the last departure is around sunset. The 50-mile commuter rail system operates over train tracks that pass through scenic New Mexican communities. Many of these areas are Indian lands and while I was taking photos of the gorgeous landscapes, I was told by a conductor (over the intercom, how embarrassing!) that it is a no-no to take pictures of the Native-American lands. My bad! The Rail Runner is New Mexico's first commuter rail service with service seven days a week to 14 stations along a 96.5-mile corridor that runs through Valencia, Bernalillo, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties, linking numerous communities and tribes. The website said that the Rail Runner trains operate "from approximately 4:30 am to 10:30 pm on weekdays, with an emphasis on the morning and evening commutes. There are fewer trains on weekends, with service hours running from approximately 8:00 am to 10:30 pm on Saturdays and 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sundays." I boarded in Santa Fe at the Santa Fe Depot in the Railyard District. The train completes the route at the ATC (Albuquerque Transit Center) in downtown Albuquerque. I thought I had found a quiet part of the train to enjoy my journey but then a whole bunch of kids from a school came on board with some parents who were trying to supervise them. I guess they had some kind of field trip planned. However, some of these kids were racing around and running all over. One boy was hanging around the exiting doors to the train with no one watching him. I was very surprised that the conductor did not tell these kiddies to calm down and sit down. Other then the schedule that favors commuters, the conductor embarrassing me about taking pictures of the Indians and the preschool kids that ran all over the train, I would say that the Rail Runner is pretty cool & Yes, I am a fan! read more

Took this train from Rio Rancho for the Zozobra festival. The trains are clean and run efficiently. Unfortunately you can't control the mouth breathers on board from stealing all the oxygen but hey, it's public transportation. Will ride again....that's what she said. read more
