Cottin's Hardware recommended Santa Fe Glass (located in North Lawrence, 1410 N 3rd St) to me & BOY, WERE THEY WONDERFUL!!! Jason in the office was careful not to take my half-knowledgeable advice, instead recommending that his colleague, Jeff, come out & look at the storm door glass and screen problem I was having. Jeff came & did SUPERB work, fixing both glass storm windows AND the screen so everything fit snug! On top of that, he completely replaced my failing porch screen door turnbuckle assembly--had to go back to their office to bring back the new parts and expertly installed it! Very personable and competent! I will ALWAYS go back to them for any storm window or screen work that my ancient old house (built in 1869!) needs, & I think there will be lots. We had Santa Fe Glass construct our shower door for our bath remodel. We couldn't be happier. About two years later, a piece of hardware failed causing the door to come loose. I called with an explanation of what happened and was immediately put on their service call schedule. Having to order and wait for the replacement parts to arrive, their servicemen arrived as scheduled, replacing the hardware, and securing the door. Unfortunately, one of the sliders did not close all the way. I called and was and scheduled for a few days later. Again, the servicemen arrived as scheduled and made the necessary adjustments. By their own admission, they had never experienced that hardware failing, but stuff happens. Great experience! We had Santa Fe out to take a look at our glass shower shower door, which had come out of alignment. I'd adjusted it a number of times myself, but couldn't get it to STAY in alignment - time to call in the professionals! When the technicians came out, it turned out the door alignment was not the problem... the stationary piece of glass had come loose of its mounting and was creeping! Definitely not a simple fix, but the technicians came through with a solution and we haven't had a problem since! Great people, great pricing, great service - really couldn't ask for anything more, and we couldn't be happier with Santa Fe. Five star rating, with two thumbs up to boot! read more

When someone took the liberties to shoot a bb through our front window, we really didn't know who to call. Several Google searches, with accompanying phone calls, only brought up autoglass. I finally got on Yelp. Someone mentioned Santa Fe Glass. We called them. They came out, measured the window, and within a couple of days, replaced the glass for less than the insurance deductible. I can say they are about the only local company that replaces residential windows. They were polite and quick. It was sort of raining, and they didn't even complain. Our house window is fixed, finally, at a fraction of the deductible. Good services deserve 5 stars. read more

A small rock went through one pane of a double pane sliding patio door at my lake house. We hauled it back to town and took it to Santa Fe Glass because he had friends that worked there in the past and had always heard they had a good reputation. The glass was crazed, but still intact. They called to give us an estimate the next day and it was over $300 to replace both panes. You can get a brand new one at Lowe's for less than $300! My husband and I discussed it and decided to just remove the one broken pane and leave the intact pane until we could figure out a way to make sure the lawnmower man wouldn't do it again. When he called the next day, they had already started the work and in removing the broken glass they broke the other pane in the process! OOPS! Now we had no choice but to fix it or buy a new door. When I called Don to chew them out for proceeding with work that wasn't authorized, he admitted that he was the one that did it and offered to replace the one pane with coated, tempered glass at a discount and I was thrilled! Until my husband brought the door home. It was laying in the bed of his truck and I saw that the glass pane was loose and falling out of the frame! They put some glue around the edge of the glass and set it in the frame. The glue didn't hold and I'm glad I noticed it and set the glass back in and swaddled the door for the 170 mile trip. When we moved the door, shards of glass were falling out of the frame because they hadn't thoroughly cleaned out the broken pane! If I hadn't noticed it, the pane would have fallen out, breaking and possibly severely injuring someone! We did manage to get it safely down and back in the tracks with help and we reset and caulked the glass in ourselves. It's unbelievable to me that any glass company would not caulk or finish the glass! Additionally, the spacer rails were broken and the frame was badly gouged and scratched. A big line right down the center of the inside frame. This door was practically new when we took it up there and now it's ruined! Although I appreciate Don trying to make his mistake right, they obviously don't know what they are doing and their lack of skill and knowledge could have really hurt someone! In addition, I'm going to have to replace the door anyway because they ruined the spacers and frames with their carelessness. We will never, ever do business here again. Very unprofessional, careless and negligent in their work! read more

When a weed-eater threw a pebble at our double-paned window and shattered it, Santa Fe glass was recommended. They came out and gave an estimate for the price of the replacement window. Perhaps it was my error in not asking if the estimate included the price of installation. It did not. When they showed up today to install the window (right when they said they would), I was very unpleasantly surprised to see an additional $85 installation added to my bill. Maybe it's only the Independence office that has this truth-in-estimate problem, but I shall not use them again. read more
