I have been living in Santa Fe lofts downtown now for about 3 years. When we first moved in we felt confident it our decision to stay here due to the great historical building and the glorious apartment we have. Yes the outside neighborhood could be cleaned up but we have 2 dogs and walk them daily on the streets without any danger. I feel like this place is in the heart of downtown and a good value considering how much rent is in LA. We have had our issues in the last few years with the old management and lack of concern but the good news is that has now changed! We have new management that has come in and within a few months has already done so much to fix what needs attention desperately to make the residents feel at home and safe. They have fixed countless issues and are very responsive and updates their residents of any progress in email and personally. I have talked to the new management almost daily just to have a conversation about any suggestions to make this loft even better and they without hesitation make not and follow up with me faster then I expected. I would now recommend this place for any of my friends whereas I could not say this before Kay and the new team arrived in late 2025. They are looking to always improve the building and make the residents feel welcome to come and talk to them about anything. Tigg and Jason seriously saved me while I was moving my furniture, they volunteered to lug a huge box up 7 flights of stairs to make sure I would finish my move in on time! I have really wanted to remain in my unit at this building because it's gorgeous but due to all the issues that plagued the building was considered moving. I wouldn't move here if the current management stays employed. Quality of living has gone down tremendously, repairs take weeks for serious things like broken windows, HVAC, and plumbing. Not to mention, the elevator is down multiple times per week. And just note, current management has left 5 star reviews of this property as if they are just residents. Beware of the scam. read more

Go check it out IN PERSON first. This place is very run down and desperate for tenants. Its also 300 feet from skid row . It looks nothing like the pictures, there are lots of gaps and holes in the walls (cockroach and rat heaven) and the floor is super lumpy uneven and fucked up. He told me this would be the best you can find in downtown, lies, for $150 more i found a gated apartment with a fully equipped gym (bc theirs has nothing but a treadmill), pool, four rooftop hangout spots, theatre, club room, conference room, AND PARKING. I was scammed and catfished, give me back my money this is fraud. read more

I have tried to call multiple times to find out how much per month their parking costs- have done so for two months. Found out from a friend who lives downtown they charge $300 on top of rent to park there, and judging by the comments made by real tenants on here/ no one ever responding to my calls this isn't somewhere I'm interested in living at anymore. If they can't even respond to someone who is interested in renting I doubt they're responsive to any issues tenants endure. read more

DO. NOT. MOVE. HERE. This is truly, without a doubt, the WORST place I've ever lived. I never left a review but I feel compelled to now that I have had time to grow, age, and realize how much I was taken advantage of as a young person living in Los Angeles. As some other people mentioned in their 1 star reviews... Management being incompetent and careless is an understatement for this building and its property owner. I lived here for one year thinking it would be the apartment of my dreams... It was the most expensive nightmare I've ever had the unfortunate reality of experiencing for a year. Don't get me wrong some of the units are beautiful. However they were are cheaply remodeled and you will NEVER, EVER, and I repeat EVER get rid of the cockroaches. I lived on the 6th floor, I was 18 and paying $2,300 a month for a glorified "1 bedroom" apartment. It was technically studio with open floor plan , which really meant there just wasn't a damn door to my room or a wall that reached the ceiling to divide the space. Around 750 square feet. My room was like a cubby tucked in the corner behind the kitchen area next to the bathroom area. The kitchen and bath had gorgeous faux marble top counters, with a cutting board slab in the middle of the massive kitchen island, new appliances and large windows... but there were cockroaches in any space imaginable. In every corner, crack and cranny you could or could not see, they were there... I would pull clothing out of my closet and a cockroach would come along with it, quickly trying to scurry away. They were under my refrigerator and oven and would crawl out of every faucet in the apartment -- in the kitchen sink, bathroom sink and bathroom tub. Around 4 months into my lease I stopped keeping food in the fridge and NEVER in the cabinets. I would only eat take-out/at restaurants and only kept water in the fridge and frozen fruit for smoothies in the freezer. I felt like I was developing a new science to try to get rid of them. And when I told management of the problems I was having within the first week of moving there, it was the most pathetic, lazy, unmotivated responses when requesting extermination or any kind of help. They just said "well it's DTLA and all the other tenants don't complain"... um NO? Not when I am paying $2,300 for a STUDIO apartment??!!!Albeit I made that "big studio apartment purchase" choice when signing the lease, however I did not sign a year long lease to pay $2,300 for COCKROACH INFESTED unit accompanied with pompous, careless, negligent management. I'll never forget when I left my Invisalign retainer on the counter and went to take a shower... when I came out of the shower, I looked on the counter to see these weird small brown moving lumps... there were baby cockroaches inside of my retainer eating the plaque off of it after I took a shower for 15 f*cking minutes. I LOST IT. Absolutely LOST. IT. I'll never forget running downstairs, Invisalign in a plastic Ziploc WITH the roaches still inside, wet hair and all to management to tell them I'd had it and I would take matters into my own hands. They did noI spent well over $500 on caulk and exterminating supplies, to fill the cracks and crevices left by the RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP owner of the building/remodelers/general contractor that was hired. But alas nothing worked. Every home remedy I tried, every chemical I purchased... nothing changed. So after a very long year of pain and frustration beyond comprehension I got the FU** OUT. What a nightmare. Please don't subject yourself to it. I have lived in three different buildings in DTLA but Santa Fe Lofts, hunny you will always be the worst. F*ck you . read more

The new management is professional, courteous, and kind. Delise (Property Manager) always takes time out of her extremely busy schedule to help with building/apartment issues, and she's making efforts to build community in the building which I appreciate. Every concern I've had has been addressed within a week, with 0 fuss. I can tell that I'm respected and appreciated as a tenant by not only her, but Michael (Office Manager) as well. They came into a MESS of a building, but in a short time have made repairs and upgrades that ALL the tenants had been asking for for MONTHS. I appreciate the addition of security, cleaning measures, and general good attitude of the new management. It's like night and day from the prior company. read more

I am currently a resident at Santa Fe Lofts - I let management know that this review was coming after time and time again my safety is put at risk living in this apartment complex. You can read the other reviews to hear about the lack of empathy the manager Regi shows whenever a serious complaint is made. The photo's shown in another review, are 100% accurate, there is a real bad roach problem. Now I understand LA has an issue with that, but theres work that the building can do to fix this too. Filling holes in the walls behind the dishwashers would be a start. Instead I paid out of pocket for my friend to come handle, since Regi says "well this is downtown." After filling the holes.. the roaches went away. WOWWWW .. NO WAY?! (clear sarcasm) In another review you can see keys being left in doors which is a HUGE security breach - yes this has also happened during my stay here. (Made a complaint - nothing was done.) The elevator was down for 2 weeks; this building has 11 floors and there was NO working elevator. As a pregnant woman, you can understand my problems with this and how it puts me at severe risk. The elevator being down happens quite often. During the heat wave last week (10.16 - 10.24) the entire buildings AC was down. I spent nearly a week in an 80 degree sweatbox and unable to open my windows as I have two cats and live on the 6th floor. The windows are extremely unsafe - no screens no protectors to prevent falling children or animals. (I pay $100 a month to cover their required "pet rent" and cant even get screens on my windows.) Today I am writing this because I just got notice that Santa Fe Lofts is trying to increase my rent from $2010 to $3500 - which is not what is listed in my term agreement. It feels like since they found out I am pregnant, they are trying to push me out to avoid having to make accommodations for me while as a pregnant tenant. This is 100% discriminatory so I asked to speak to someone besides Regi still no one has reached out to address my concerns. Hopefully this review will get upper managements attention. I am writing this so the public knows what they are getting into when signing a lease with Santa Fe Lofts. I truly hope there is no retaliation from Regi or other Santa Fe staff for writing this review. read more
