This place was kind of confusing. There's two gates to get into the parking lot and you go to the second one cause the first is locked. No one was there even though they were open and we couldn't buy food. We stood by the sign for a bit, walked around, then realized we pot the cash in the big metal box and walk in. It's on the home system. We paid the $2 per person to go in. They only have a few animals there to pet but they all seemed nice and used to people. Most of them walked to us wanting to be pet. I only wished there was someone there so we could've gotten food to feed the animals. Iwould've given 5 stars if they had that. Overall for the price it was totally worth it. If they charged more I probably wouldn't have gone but for $2 totally worth it to the kids. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect as it wasn't clear online. It looks like it's a small self-serve animal feeding farm. For a $2 per basket donation, you can help yourself inside and feed, pet and see some goats, a tortoise, a pig, chickens and a miniature horse. My two year old enjoyed it! read more

It's a beautiful farm in Arroyo Grande with farm animals you can visit and even feed! They have a nice area in the center that looks perfect for hosting intimate private parties! All the animals looked happy and healthy. I love how some of them had their own 'cabin' if they wanted to get some shade. Stopped by here in our way to Santa Maria. It's a nice little rest stop. I'd like to give it 3.5 stars. There are some nest items, but it's now Feb. and they still have fair amount of Christmas out. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so jarring if it were all in one area, but it's spread out. The prices were just a tad bit tourist sized. They do have a beautiful venue for a small wedding, or reception/party. They do have an animal area with turkeys, goats, sheep and a mini horse. They were all friendly and well taken care of. I liked how the stables were decorated like old west store fronts. They do not offer food to feed the live stock so, they aren't nosey or mouthy. read more

This place should be much busier for what it offers. Great assortment of merchandise. I've been vacationing in this area all my life and this is the first time I've visited. I wish they offered a snack bar to encourage people to spend more time there before and after they shop. I would like to have seen fresh farm flowers for sale. This is a fun quick little stop. We enjoy going to see the animals and walk through the little store. The store is cute with some foods and gifts. They were selling fresh fish and eggs today, too. The animal section is pretty small but super cute. I wish they would sell feed like a similar place down the 101 does. I feel like it would bring them more business. It has a cute little garden section. And in fall we have gotten pumpkins here too. My teacher friend says they put on good field trips, as well. read more

My daughter's took me on a "Mom's Day." It was all about anything I wanted to do. We left Bakersfield for Pismo and SLO. This was the first stop on my wish list. The atmosphere is happy and the gift store is well displayed with a lot of fun items for everyone. We should have brought the truck! There was a wedding that looked like it was going to begin when the nursery closed. What a wonderful surprise this place turned out to be. A great alternative to the overcrowded Avila Barn. The ladies that work here couldn't be nicer. They've got beautiful pottery & succulent plants for sale. The store offers organic local grown produce and lots of treasures! There's even an area out back with animals and from the looks of it they host events perfect for a wedding or charity event. We were up in the Avila Beach area at the local farmers market. My husband was so disappointed that the candied jalapenos he bought there on a previous visit weren't in stock. Lovely family farm/small petting zoo/gourmet food store. Located in the rolling hills this place is a small gem. Super kid friendly without being commercial. You can stroll between over sized ceramic pots and statues for sale, large plant nursery or go on a self-guided tour of the petting zoo. Large and docile turkeys, mini horse and huge sheep and my boys loved the kids and their goat mamas. The store has a huge selection of gourmet food. Fresh fruit and veggies, fresh caught local fish. Jams, baked goods, olives, sauces, teas. Scented candles, lovely hand made jewellery. If you need to bring gifts back from your trip, this place is perfect and prices were fair compared to the rest of the places we visited. Will be back for more goodies. read more

Interesting store to say the least. While we never saw any animals we did peruse home decor items, signs, cosmetics/soaps, Christmas decorations and produce (you can do much better at many other markets and produce stands for). They had unusual pies (persimmon). As another post pointed out there was only one employee there (that we could see). We will return in the Spring when they sell salmon and have plants (all we saw were cacti and succulents). read more

We got there shortly after 10am (when it opens) and it looked like it was still closed. No one was around except one employee mopping the floor. The bathrooms were still locked, door to the outside locked, "critter corral" gate locked... Not very inviting. We walked around for a bit and they do have some nice plants and garden items. Great place to visit with the kids! They love the animals and then you can go inside to get fresh veggies, fruits, eggs and fish! They have donkeys, goats, ponies an aviary, koi pond, turkeys, chickens too! The shop inside is full of great gift items and gourmet foods and they have beautiful grounds with flowers and plants! I love any neighborhood fruit/veg stand and I was told to visit Windmill Farms. I was so pleasantly surprised by all of the goodies that they had! Not only did they have gourmet goodies (jams, dressings, seasonings, pastas, etc...) but they also had wonderful fruits and vegetables! I didn't have a chance to explore everything however it looked as though they had a little coffee/snack stand. I was going to be visiting my family so I had gone in looking for some local products to take back however I didn't find much- that's the only reason why I didn't give it 5-stars. This farm is much less crowded than Avila Valley Barn which is a plus if you're looking to have your children see the animals. You can purchase feed from the store for $0.50. My son's favorites here are the pigs and the tortoise (they don't have these animals at Avila). There's always parking and it is right off the 101 so this is a easy trip for families. The store is cute. Of course there is produce but there are also various sauces, jams, jellies, teas, scones, home decor, and plants. read more

My sister recommended this charming nursery. Even though it was the end of December they had a good selection of succulents and wonderful pots and garden hardscape. Inside the store was a nice selection of beautiful organic locally grown produce. The gift area was charming and I found a marvelous garden hat that Kathryn Hepburn would have loved. Visited family here and they took us to this farm. I loved the little animal farm they had on the premises.It is such a quaint little place with a large selection of products that you normally don't see at many places. They have the best strawberries and blueberries there. It was so fresh and very sweet! Also, I absolutely love that they let you sample things at this store! They sell Robbins Family balsamic vinegar and olive oil. These are a must to try! It is so delicious!! I would definitely return here when I visit again! read more

Right off of the 101. This is a gorgeous farm. Like insanely beautiful. You can come walk the grounds, come feed the animals (Pigs, ponies, goats and even a tortoise!),shop all the pottery and check out the gift shop. I WANT TO LIVE HERE. Seriously, It is incredibly charming. This is so utterly unique and wonderful. We spent loads of time here. We visited the burros, the white one likes it's back scratched and I obliged for a long time. Animals. Walk the property and enjoy. The store part of it is a huge open raftered barnlike wood structure with Fresh produce, shabby chic-ish farmstyle decor and homegoods for sale, giftie stuff, Art everywhere on the property, art, art.
