My only complaint is that the museum can get pretty crowded, so I definitely recommend getting there early if you want a little more space to enjoy everything. I'm also really excited and grateful that they are planning to expand the museum, which will create more exhibit space and hopefully help with the crowds.

All 3 were a hit w/my kids. - lots of other hands on activities inside to include a treehouse where kids can load apples and send them up and down baskets, my kids love that when they were little. - very popular air launchers to shoot wind spinners. - a huge manual pinball machine that is super fun, my kids never tired of making the pinball launch over and over. - a miniature train set that goes around, it's on the 2nd floor. - plenty of outdoors activities and play areas. - a little stream for water play, little kids love that. - a real life former medical helicopter (a bit random, but still cool). - a climbing structure, and a few other play areas also. - so many ways to tire your kids out, guaranteed a good nap on the way home and they'll prob sleep a lot that night. Minuses: - The building indoors is really quite packed. The different features are each thoughtfully designed and very nice and colorful, but it can get crowded here. - Pretty expensive admission. Wow! This is my 1,000th review!…read more For this milestone, I just had to review Safari West. My family and I recently booked an overnight adventure here and visited on a Wednesday. We had such a fun time here and really enjoyed looking at and learning about the animals and glamping in their African safari tents. We drove down from Eureka for hours and made it just in time for the 2:00 classic safari tour! While my husband and two older boys did the classic safari tour, my youngest son and I did the Para transit safari tour, which is on a truck fitted with a ramp to accommodate a wheelchair. It also has the seats on top of the truck, one in the trunk with the wheelchair, and a seat next to the driver, and could easily accommodate 5-6 guests on the same tour. It is shorter than the classic tour since it doesn't go on the rougher terrain, which my son was ok with. Our guide was Jeff and he was great. We learned so much about horns vs. antlers, the various species roaming around, and even saw the baby rhino, Ozzy - named after Ozzy Osborne who passed away the day baby Ozzy was born. Since it was his 1 year birthday the day we were there, the staff decorated Ozzy's area with birthday decorations and even had a cake celebration with the staff. So sweet! My family on the classic tour really enjoyed their experience as well and told us about the other animals they saw on their tour. My middle son mentioned that a few animals were nosy and came right up to their truck. That evening, our family stayed in two tents, one wheelchair accessible tent and one regular tent w/ two beds. The tents were so fancy, they were fully furnished with super comfortable beds (better than the hotels I stayed in during this trip), comfy seats, space heaters, and decorated with beautiful African items and art. Bathrooms had everything we needed, I loved that the accessible tent was so spacious for my son and even had a shower seat. There is no refrigerator, but the deck had a cooler with complimentary bottles of water, and if you wanted ice, there were free bags of ice you could get from the front office to put in your cooler. Rooms included ear plugs I think if you are sensitive to the potential animal sounds, but I felt that our space heater was so loud (yes, we used a space heater at night because it was COLD at night!) it drowned out any animal sounds. I used the ear plugs anyway since I can't sleep with a lot of noise. We got the dinner package and it was buffet style. Our server brought us a fruit platter to start, and then we were able to go to the buffet where they had Caesar salad, smoked chicken, smoked ribs, Mac & cheese, potatoes, veggies, and apple cobbler for dessert. Everything was great, except I am told the smoked ribs were over seasoned and too salty. I did bring some wine from the winery we went to earlier on this trip and brought a glass to dinner, which they didn't say anything about, so I guess it was ok. They do serve drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) but it's an extra fee on top of the food package. After dinner, there was s'mores and I was told they were showing animal themed movies at 8:30 in the room next to the dining hall, but when we went, the lady in the dining hall told us that there was no movie that night since there was a private party occupying the space where they show the movies. So instead, we used the flashlights we borrowed at check in to wander around the animal enclosures to see the animals at night. It was fun trying to find all the animals in the dark. Overnight guests get a continental breakfast in the morning which included cereals, breads, pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and scrambled eggs. Coffee, tea and juices were also available. Suprisingly my 17 and 14 year olds really enjoyed this park the most out of our entire trip. Being that there was spotty Wi-Fi, it forced them to enjoy our environment and have fun other ways. There's a gift shop with a variety of African themed items, and safari themed hats and vests for kids, and stuffed animals. Thank you Safari West for making our visit so memorable!

Daniel was so knowledgeable, answered all the questions we had and more and genuinely cared for all of the animals we met. Don't skip the roos, they are so soft and we got to spend time with mama to be Lulu and baby Onya. They take in animals from various circumstances, including those confiscated from the illegal animal trade, and care for them and find other homes for them like zoos or aquariums. I highly recommend a visit to Wine County Zoological, its perfect for a memorable experience for a special occasion.

The capybara is a large animal, and it was pretty surprising and amusing that the female came over and after having her snacks from us would lay down for belly rubs, just like a dog . The sloths were adorable and the little armadillo was very personable. It was enjoyable holding and admiring him.. The tour is educational, fun and rewarding and the money goes for the upkeep and vet bills of all these wonderful wildlife animals . They are a joy.

The prices are extremely reasonable for quite a few hours of enjoyable family time. Additionally, this is one of the few things to do in Guerneville that isn't a physical activity or eating/drinking. Unfortunately, I felt like I had to take a star off because this place is super run-down. Many of the greens are torn up, which makes it challenging to play each hole. There is also a lot of stuff everywhere, making the space feel cluttered and dirty in some areas. Compared to other mini golf courses I have been to, this one ranks fairly low on upkeep. Overall, a fun place to enjoy some time as a family. Great for young, old, and everyone in between. Just don't expect top-of-the-line greens or a pristine course.

A business built for children should understand that kids develop at vastly different paces and there is no rigid standard for every age. My son was born four months premature. While his birth certificate says 18 months, his physical size, adjusted age, and motor skills are at a 12-14 month level, and he has only just started walking.The front desk took our payment first with zero warning. Only after we had already paid did they inform us that he was couldn't enter the 18-month-and-under section. When I tried explaining that he is a preemie, the staff member argued back and forth, claiming his adjusted age "doesn't matter" and that they strictly enforce birth age and weight but they do t know what he actually weighs. Because they forced him into the main play area, the bigger kids were running circles around him while he was barely finding his footing. It was a complete safety hazard that defeated the entire purpose of having a protected toddler zone. I wish they had disclosed this rule prior to us paying. If you are visiting the area or have a child who was born premature, be aware. Edit: The owner personally reached out to apologize, issued a full refund, and ensured the team was coached moving forward. I really appreciate the accountability and customer care!

They have hands on and interactive exhibits for children to play with. Most of the exhibits were well maintained. It is an interesting way to spend an hour. The staff, at least on the day were there, was fantastic. Since we were the only ones there, she almost gave us a personalized tour to explain some of the exhibits and talk about the lab and what they do. They have an easy scavenger hunt for children with a nice t-shirt as a prize. They are pretty generous with the scavenger hunt and let children of all ages play. The museum is priced just right for most Yelpers. It is free! It's a nice place, with not a lot of visitors.

The dancing sprinkler play stations accompanied by the foam bath was fun for the big and little, part of the Dinosaur Event. The various activities for the Dinosaur Event, spread throughout the day, kept the littles engaged. What a great event and time had! The entrance is like walking through a castle to a whole new world gated inside. It was clean, grassy, huge and open spaces with different areas to play for the kids. There are benches and picnic tables everywhere too. They also have restrooms on site too. Lots of grassy and shady areas to hang out as well. Our grandbaby had a great time running everywhere to her hearts content and she cannot wait to go back again with her parents.
