I had been going to Santiago's for awhile but stopped within the last year or so just because I had been trying to eat out less. That being said , I recently had ordered 2 - 1/2 pints of beans and 2 - 1/2 pints of rice and it came out to 20$. I am extremely disappointed because the sizes were not 1/2 pints. I was working an election site near Santiago's and a few of my fellow election officers told me this place was pretty good. And they were right!! I got the chili relleno plate and was very excited. I don't think they make them there but they were still quite good so who cares?? Right? They were filled with cheesy goodness and the sauce on top was liquid perfection. The stars of the meal were the rice and beans! My husband will tell you if the rice and beans are cooked right, you know the rest of the food will be great. These rice and beans could rival any restaurant anywhere. Next time I go, I may just get rice and beans (probably not tho!). We got our food to go. The cashier was helpful and friendly enough. This is an easy to write 5 star review. Santiago's is small and in a nondescript strip just off the freeway, but it is elite. It was busy at 9am but the employees were working hard and handling it well. The hot cheetos burrito is very consistant, really good and very filling! The pastor is juicy and delicious. It gets messy, thats how juicy it was! Have a plate and napkin handy. And the cabeza! Wow. It looks promising when you enter, but ultimately I've had better. It was taco Tuesday so we decided to order 4 tacos of cabeza, carnitas, and Al pastor per the cashiers recommendation. It wasn't as good as I expected. I bought a sausage burrito and chorizo burrito and ate half of each. I wasn't blown away. I would buy another burrito from here but only if I'm in the area. I've been to Santiago's quite a few times. They're pretty busy. I enjoy the friendly and patient staff as I stand reading the menu to see if I want to try something new. So far, I've had potato tacos, rice, beans, carne asada, and I've tried all of their homemade sauces. I tried the Menudo and it was okay. I like a thicker, richer broth. The food and customer service is great, the prices are good(they aren't a cheap hole in the wall) but each time I've been there, the restaurant is immaculate.
