I'll start with first impression of the holiday destination; respectfully an older resort. You'll see the place comes up quickly from the main road and can't miss the property. As you pull in, you'll see the general public parking area ( left side, just passed the security gate) for guests coming to spend the day at Sapphire Beach or when visiting the beach bar. Parking is free. We didn't stay at the resort, however, as I stated many amenities are open to the public. This is a beautiful beach and a beautiful location. The property is ginormous! The bar entrance opens up to their beach front offerings, with crystal clear waters & warm sand that expands out to the Caribbean Sea- Stunning . When in the open space of the outdoors of this resort, there's this popular Sapphire Beach Bar (of course, a cafe and 3/4 more casual dinning spots within this vacation destination. This is A HUGE laid back bar with lots of activities. We were there @ happy hour and it was packed! Lots of great drink specials & many fun interactive games going on to take advantage of. One we participated in was the Hook & Ring Toss- so fun and met some great folks from around the world. There were many people at play in the water, even though it was somewhat of an overcast day. There's an abundance of perfect areas for breath taking photo opts. We walked around and then down Pretty Point and "boy was it"! This ends at the Saint John Bay and overlooks Pillsbury Sound, absolutely gorgeous views to take in and appreciate of St. John and the British Virgin Islands. We went here for drinks after the crowds had thinned out and had a perfectly nice experience. The bartenders were attentive and efficient. My drink, the Miami Vice, was excellent. It was on the sweet side and was almost like a smoothie with rum. The wife had rum punch and I did not care for it and she thought it was weak. They serve food too but we did not eat anything so I can't comment, but I have posted a menu for informational purposes. Lovely spot, very clean beach with some sandy and some slightly more rocky parts. No admission cost for the beach, chair rental and other rental options like snorkel gear. Staff is nasty and out of line. We had a large group and decided to try this bar/grill- When I went to order food, one of the male bartenders claimed that I was being rude for forgetting to order fries with my order (I forgot, and asked if I could add it on) he immediately had an issue with that and made off handed comments on how inconvenient this was for him like I had just done something absurd. I have NO doubt this is because I am a female, as this man was perfectly kind to the men in our group. Our group left, did not order anything else and we have told our entire wedding party to not return here. I believe this name might be Joshua- I see there have been issues with him. This bar is located right on the beach. It was really beautiful and had a lot of chairs to sit on. They even had several football games on as we came on a Saturday afternoon. I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel obligated to share it. My mom and I traveled to Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas to celebrate my 40th and her 70th birthdays. We were given a high-value gift card from St. Thomas Restaurant Group to use during our 10-day trip. Unfortunately, using it became an ongoing issue that took away from what should have been a special and relaxing experience. From the start, staff at Sapphire Beach Bar didn't know how to process the gift card and told us they didn't have time to manually enter the 10-digit code for each order because they were too busy. We tried to be flexible--offering to open a tab and run it once per day--but that was also dismissed. This same confusion followed us to multiple locations. Jessica from corporate was responsive and did her best to help, and we were told staff would honor the gift card by entering it manually. While that technically solved the issue, it was clear we were now seen as an inconvenience. We were even repeatedly warned to avoid a specific bartender--which should have been a red flag. The interaction at Naia Boutique was one of the worst parts of the trip. We were told the gift card couldn't be used there, despite it being listed on their website. When we asked about it, the manager was dismissive, condescending, and openly rude to my mother. At one point, she rolled her eyes and said, "I don't know what to tell you." Completely unprofessional and unnecessary. On our last day, things escalated further. After consistently tipping in cash every time we ordered a drink, I went to close out our tab at Sapphire Beach Bar. The bartender, Joshua--who we had been warned about--told me we couldn't tip on the gift card. I explained we had been tipping cash all along and that I had just added $20 to the tip bucket. He then dumped the entire tip jar onto the counter and counted it in front of me. It was aggressive, inappropriate, and honestly shocking behavior. I went back to the beach and tried to enjoy our last few minutes but something like that sticks with you and before leaving for the night I went back and told him that. We went out of our way to be patient, understanding, and generous with tips, yet repeatedly felt like a burden for simply trying to use a valid gift card with a significant balance. While ownership did reach out and attempt to make things right, the overall experience was disappointing. A gift card that was meant to enhance our trip ended up creating stress, wasted time, and multiple negative interactions. This is a clear systems and training issue--but more importantly, a customer service issue. I would not recommend relying on their gift cards until that is addressed. I would also recommend following the advice that we received to avoid Joshua at all costs. To management: there are cameras throughout the bar. If there is any question about what occurred with Joshua, review the footage from the evening of February 27. While the audio may be limited, the video will clearly show our interaction and him dumping the tip jar out in front of me. read more

A great view, plenty of drinks, ease of access and tasty veggie burgers believe it or not! My wife's a vegan and we each got the double veggie burger and we both loved it, even though I'm not a vegan. Great local island beer and IPA's. Service was great and pretty quick. read more

This beach was on the list of top things to do here and now that I've been there I know why! The food was absolutely amazing. Hubby had fish tacos, and I had a veggie burger. The fries were wonderful, and both of our meals were excellent. What was even better? It was how fun the whole atmosphere was there. There was a band there who played covers and they were phenomenal a few older men in this band, but they had the crowd rock 'n' roll. I highly recommend this place. read more

The bartender poured (right out of a bottle) a watered down almost 3/4+ full cup of rum then topped it off with a small amount of fruit juice. Thinking this will be strong WRONG. Came here in June while staying at the resort, for my bday, it's right on the beach which is a plus. The tacos as i read in the reviews are great, didn't try anything else. The drinks were not strong because, the cruzan run was always the bar so you have to ask for the good stuff. One of the bartenders Josh had an attitude when it came to wearing mask to order from the bar and my sister always forgot hers; at point he started to refuse service and we were just trying to get drinks to have a good time. Nikki the bartender came in and was super nice and professional. It's unfortunate we saw her on our last day, she only works Saturday and Sundays; we ordered the rest of our drinks and shots w/her. The bar looked like it needed work, but I knew they were recovering from the storm. The beach is nice but all of the chairs are always locked and my sister and I had to carry a chair all the way from building B. The bar is good if you just want to relax by the beach without getting on the sand. There's a nice lady selling handmade art on the beach as well as a lady selling cover ups. Vince (pizza) and Keith (bar) are amazing. Friendly, welcoming and genuine. The pizza is fantastic. The sauce, the cheese, thin crust, all on point. Crispy pepperoni is where it's at in my opinion. I've had several different pies and they are all top level. Price point isn't pizza hut, but you get what you pay for. The drinks suggested by Keith were delicious and dangerous, (ask for a Tic-Tac shot) fresh squeezed oranges, ice cold, and tastes exactly like an orange Tic-Tac. He was an octopus, seemed like he had 8 arms slinging drinks and taking care of guests and all with a smile. All in all a kick ass and I don't say that lightly. Ive seen this place glow up in the few years since I last came to Sapphire but something about it just, misses the mark. Let me say that the staff was super friendly and helpful anytime I asked a question about a drink, etc. They definitely enforce mask wearing so it made me feel safe. Now the drinks themselves...well...underwhelming. Like I can drink 3 in a row and not really feel a buzz and that's saying something. I recommend bringing your own booze to throw in. The rum punch is pre-made and supposedly their "strongest" but I doubt it. Frozen drinks were great but their bushwacker was more ice (I recommend Beach Bars in Saint John). Food wise their fish tacos were amazing, 5 star for sure. They were out of fries most of the time and obviously on a limited menu, probably due to COVID which is a huge bummer. No live music and construction going on daily which can be a bit much when sitting at one of the 4 tables in the shade. I have a lot of hope for this place in a post covid universe. read more

September 24, 2021 On our way back from Coral World Ocean Park we (4of us) stopped in for a late lunch. There is plenty of free close by parking. The two female bartenders were great! It was fairly busy and they took the time to explain the order/pick up process, answer questions about food preparation, beverages, and joke/laugh with us. The bacon/cheese hotdogs are so tasty that we ended up ordering a total of 3 of them. The grilled tilapia fish tacos we very good and filling too. There is a full bar with lots of selections. They open when they feel like it even though opening hours for lunch begin at 11. We patiently waited and admired the ocean view while the 2 employees got ready to open. The gentleman came by and said we don't open until 11 you'll be sitting there awhile. It was 10:56 am when he stated such. We kindly said ok and continued to wait. The young woman seemed quite interested in her phone conversation instead of getting prepared to open. Needless to say 11:24 we left and gave our money to a different establishment. On Monday, after a long day of sightseeing, my girlfriend and I needed a drink and we decided to try Sapphire Beach Bar which is close to were we are staying. It's your typical beach side bar. Very nice and a lot of seating. My girlfriend had the strawberry daiquiri which she enjoyed and I had a coots light. The bartenders were friendly and outgoing. The view of sapphire beach is gorgeous. If you want a beer or a drink I would recommend sapphire beach bar. They do serve food which we did not try so I can't say if it's good or bad. That's for another time. Now for the bad news. As y'all know.. Hurricane Dorian hit Saint Thomas on Wednesday and the sapphire Beach bar was hit. The bar area is intact but there was some minor damage. This is one of our favorite beach bars on St.Thomas to have an icy drink, sit and just be. I need a job that pays me to sit at this bar and watch the ocean waves of sapphire beach! Sapphire beach is awesome on its own but having this bar here, makes it complete. Located on Sapphire beach resort, the security guard at the gate will direct you to parking and it is a make up your own spot kind of thing in a sectioned off area for non resort guests. My favorite drink here is the frozen mango daiquiri, I could drink five of these in one sitting they are so delicious. It is a little light on the rum which I prefer. Heat + alcohol = me sleepy, so these guys are perfect. Our go to lunch is the Asian Mahi Wasabi aioli sandwich ($14) the first time we ordered it we immediately got seconds and have only tried this sandwich every time we visit. Every lunch sandwich order comes with chips. Customer service is pretty awesome here and the bartender is the server for the restaurant and bar area. There are about 6 high top seats facing the water away from the bar and a few four tops to the side. The restaurant also has a dedicated server that will walk up and down the beach taking orders so you don't have to leave your comfy beach spot to get snacks and drinks.
