One of our first stops off the ferry for a peanut butter bushwacker. We have been over 20 times they are consistent everything is good.

This was a great stop for us once we stepped off the ferry for a quick bite and great cocktail before our condo was ready. We sat at one of the tables outside and it was nice to be able to people watch for a bit. The calamari was very good, we also shared a mahi sandwich. Fish was a bit overdone but it was otherwise good. Service was great and we had several people checking on us. read more

No ambiance worth talking about, calamari were ok and cocktails were good. I recommend at least two drinks before you buy food, as more I drink as less relevant is taste. Our waitress at the bar was awesome and funny! read more

Cool little dive bar on the island. Only a few tables inside and out and a small bar. We just stopped for a drink one night. The vibes are cool inside with all kinds of stickers on the wall. Overall worth a stop if you are in town. read more

A small hole in the wall with great appetizers to start our day! We had shark bites which were flavorful and tender. We also had two Crabcake sliders (we took off the pickle), in our opinion those aren't meant to be eaten with pickles. I visited last week while on my vacation cruise, and knew I eventually HAD to try this much-talked-about spot, and it did not disappoint in any way whatsoever. Loved it and will definitely return. I wanted to try the shrimp, which all seem to rave about but requested assistance from the server for which most-popular option was to be suggested, I got the fried, which was a delicious choice, and paired with really really large onion rings that were not the least bit slimy. Basically perfection. A nice cold beer to accompany, and I was a happy camper for the duration. VERY easy to recommend to others. Go! Enjoy!! read more

We tried fish and chips (which was wahoo fish the day we tried it), Mahi fish taco, double decker shrimp taco, and the shrimp platter. We got straight and curly fries which were both great. We also got shark bites as an appetizer. The food was great and we had no complaints! Quick, yummy, very chill spot. Parking is more challenging but that isn't unusual and we found a spot. Even if it's just for a beer or two, you have to go to Woody's. It's an experience. As one waitress put it, "We're a five-star dive bar!" That sums it up. The walls are covered with stickers and notes from past patrons, and the wait staff practically dances from table to table. Everyone seems happy at Woody's. We went in (12/29/23) for just a beer and some onion rings/tater tots. The rings and tots were perfectly done, and the portions were HUGE! While we were there, a guy came in and bought a round of pricey tequila shots for the house. When he found out my wife grew up in the same town as he did back in the States, he bought her another round, then left with a group of friends to go to some other bar. Later, as we were preparing to leave, he returned, and bought ANOTHER round for the house! I don't know if stuff like that always happens at Woody's, but I'd go back just for the rings, tots, and beer. Great place, don't miss it! read more

If you go to Cruz Bay and love little dive bars then this place is a must. Super friendly bartenders, great apps and just a great vibe.

Great lunch today at Woody's. Ventured out from our resort and glad we did. My picky 7 year old immediately honed in on the "shark bites". I was only too happy to indulge him to see if he'd eat the blackened mahi mahi nuggets. In fact, he ate half the basket in addition to two chicken tacos. The fried mahi mahi on the fish and chips was great too, and the beer bartered shrimp were huge and delicious. My side salad was super fresh and not boring. Friendly service...the gal apologized for our wait but we were in no hurry so all good. I'd go back, but with kids I think I'd stick with lunchtime. read more

Got here when it open at 11AM. We just couldn't wait to try this spot after reading all the reviews. We walked by this place a few times and finally wiling to try it. We came hungry and thirsty . We ordered the shark bites , peel and eat shrimp , mahi sandwich with tater tots, the double decker mahi tacos along with the spicy margarita . Everything was delicious and well flavored. Even the margaritas was Spicy enough. The bartender/waitress was amazing and she was great to us. What a great place for great food that doesn't break your wallet. read more

I really like this place! If you likes holes in the wall, THIS is the place for you! My buddy and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. The music was good. We got a seat at the bar. Outdoor seating is available. They also serve food and seafood. We got the seafood platter. The shrimp and blackened mahi was pretty awesome and restaurant quality The fried conch and onion rings were really greasy bar food type fare. Damia, our bartender, really made the whole place shine. She was the bartender and server and welcome party. We were greeted immediately with a smile and a menu. I ordered a bushwhacker (blended alcoholic chocolate milkshake type drink). She asked if I liked peanut butter, which I did. She ended up making a custom peanut-butter bushwhacker with the rim of the cup smeared with PB. OMG. Soo good. I ordered two. It was very good. Here vacationing in U.S.V.I we hopped on a boat barge and headed to St.John for a day. Such a small beautiful island crowded with tourist. It wasn't long before we could smell the delicious food lingering out of Woodys Pub. We decided to eat here before heading to Trunk Bay. They made some wonderful drinks. Like the best pain killer I ever drank during the vacation was at Woodys. Painkiller is a native favorite cocktail to make. It consists of: coconut cream, pineapple juice, rum and sprinkled with fresh nutmeg (their nutmeg was also the freshest since it's grown locally). I can't keep count how many painkillers I drank. And that coconut lime blended cocktail was to die for in this heat. I'd recommend trying both cocktails. As for the food it was more picturesque than delicious. Everything was fried beautifully. My fresh fishy sticks and onion rings were golden and beautiful. The chicken wings were fried to perfection. However, Everything was salty! I'm sure it was the batch of batter that was over seasoned this day, and that it usually is palatable otherwise. They also gave me macaroni salad that was completely rank spoiled, and they tried to tell me it was just the smell of the vegetables. Everything would've been perfectly executed had it not been so over seasoned and spoiled. If you stop at Woody's definitely go for the bar. read more

Grabbed lunch at Woodys while in Cruz bay. They open at 11 but don't take food orders until about 11:15. Great selection of drinks. Our crew enjoyed what we got. Food wise - also good! And not super overpriced like you're used to on the island. 2 of the crew got chicken tenders and fries. They make all their sauces in house so the ranch and honey mustard were . I got a crab cake slider and a salad. The slider was $6. Not sure if it was the best deal because it is super small but it was good so I won't complain too much Salad was a good portion and I also got the homemade ranch. My boyfriend got the BLT with mahi and he ate it right up. Overall 4 stars! Only reason I'm not giving 5 is because they ran my boyfriends card 3x which caused it to decline and now he has to wait a few days for everything to clear. He also had to pay with a different card so hopefully everything rolls off like it should read more

I gotta say, Damia is an angel sent from heaven. She is so sweet and accommodating, she makes me feel like I'm home. Her smile and vibe are infectious. And the food is AMAZING. What a cool lil spot. Awesome wait staff great vibe. Here's a pro tip. Ask for the peanut butter bushwhacker (off the menu). I had like 4 of them in a row. Even a bigger pro tip, if Damia is working in the evening, ask for the Peanut Butter Rim Job. This drink was so damn good, seriously just put it on the menu. I loved the Conch Fritters. Wife just thought they were ok. We both loved the beer battered shrimp. The Mahi Mahi Shark bites were super delicious but a def bit on the salty side. Another pro tip, dip your fritters and shrimp in the blackened seasoning leftover from the Shark Bites. If I lived on St John, this would be my spot. read more

07/09 11:30 a.m. - We were excited to try their food and drinks. Unfortunately, it didn't go well. After sitting at the bar for a while and couldn't get service, the young white lady with smaller figure shows up, I ask 1 question and she walks away answering something. She couldn't spare us half a second to answer our question but had all the time to hang by the white family who walked in way after us and serve them drinks right away. She stood by the family and took order while she was standing by the cash machine and asked us to yell our orders. I don't know if that's the way the place works or just that one staff, it was way too blatant for us to sit there and take it. I wouldn't encourage an establishment that encourages such behavior. read more

The piña colada is sooo good too. The male water is sooo nice and funny and patient and helpful. The only thing we feel a little not that good is some of the food is a little salty. Alicia was amazing , no power and hot as can be but the staff handled it incredibly. Our food came out quick even though the team had to do it in the dark. Of all the restaurants we have visited in st . John this was our favorite not just because of the shark bites but more importantly the staff . I visited with my teenage daughter and I wasn't treated any different than the locals . Above and beyond my expectations. This is a great spot for people watching and enjoying a sandwich or light fair. We come for the food not the booze. I like the beer battered onion rings, the mahi mahi sandwich was filling and fine for lunch. They have been here for at least 20 years, it is likely if if you come to Cruz Bay, at some point you will end up at Skinny's for either the legendary Happy Hour, or a lunch after shopping or the beach. It is fun to sit outside, the inside was very limited for seating. We wish they had more of a selection with swag at the saloon, especially a good Woody's bassball style cap, They carry trucker style now either a cammo or Donald Trump red color. Oh well! read more

When you order a $3 Heineken beer and an $8 pina colada if is a bummer when the 8 ounce solo cup arrives and you are left hoping it would have been a bigger size... do t get me wrong, the $2-$3 beers sound like a good deal... but across the street at Tap and Still it's $2-$3 during happy hour for 12 ounce bottles of angry orchard, Guinness, Blue moon and ect. Best fish tacos on the island. The best place for people watching at night too. A must visit for any trip to the island.

We were last on island this February for 8tuff miles. To celebrate, we had a late dinner at La Tapa, which is just up the street from Woody's. Foolish us: as 20 year visitors, we should have known better. If we ever needed confirmation that we would never go there, this was it. The bar crowd at Woody's (as usual) spilled out on to the street with drunken patrons weaving in and out of traffic and walking past our outdoor table yelling and screaming. One youngish lady was out in the middle of the street screaming that it was her birthday and high-fiving drivers in cars, as they drove slowly by so as not to hit her. Most were smart enough to roll up their windows! We felt terrible for the staff at La Tapa having to deal with the drunk tourists directly in front of their restaurant. And the smell from Woody's deep fryers was not appetizing, at all. Not good neighbors, Woody's. Take a hard pass. read more

A tiny little 'Saloon' is open for lunch and gets a lite rowdy as the day starts to end. A meeting spot for locals, shots, and some great shrimp. Right up the street from the ferry is always my first stop on island. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the Painkillers ($8.00) and Rum Punch and amazed by the Shark Bites ($16.00). We did not know what to expect from the Shark Bites because a Google search suggested they might be something like hush puppies. We were very happy when the plate came out and it was a bunch of grilled mahi mahi with some sauce. read more
