Staying at the 1 Hotel comes with its perks, and as a proud hotel snob, I have no problem investing in luxury... though this time, I didn't have to. I was invited and I happily accepted. Harriet's Rooftop is in the 1 Hotel and sits right next to the pool, so the crowd is a fun mix of people dressed like they're shooting a campaign and people who clearly just wandered over from their lounge chairs. The place is known for attracting stars, and they delivered; Kevin O'Leary was sitting right in front of me, taking pictures of the view like the rest of us. And honestly, who could blame him? The views are stunning. Service was okay; you have to be escorted up by the hostess if you're not a guest, if you're a guest you have key access; once you're on the roof, it feels like the pool staff is running the show. What didn't make sense was how many empty tables there were while they sat everyone practically elbow‑to‑elbow. Service missed the mark for a place aiming at luxury. In the kind of restaurants I frequent, an empty glass is whisked away with the speed of a magician's trick. Instead, our plates and cups lingered at the table, relaxing right alongside us as if they, too, had paid for the experience. I asked to move upon being seated, and they did accommodate, but they easily could've placed us at the waterfront table since those "reserved" guests never arrived. Still, the food was surprisingly very good, and although there's a per‑person minimum, two drinks and an entrée will get you there without trying. This is not a cheap outing, and the crowd reflects that. Everyone is in designer everything (quiet luxury but if you know, you know), and the wrist game is elite. Not just Rolex; the Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille kings were outside. You go Kings. Harriet's is a vibe...luxury, views, people‑watching, and a sprinkle of celebrity energy. Come dressed, come hungry, and come ready to enjoy the moment. Let's get into it! Frozen Watermelon Margarita - UMMMM yes. A cool, seductive little tease in a glass, smooth, refreshing, and way too easy to get attached to. I was ready for another, but my waitress slipped away like a secret. Jalapeño Margarita - A soft, intentional heat. The kind that warms you slowly, not all at once. Rock Shrimp - Big portion, light spice, and honestly came out like it knew it was fine. Bold, confident, and ready to be admired. Baked Crab Roll - The star. Warm, rich, decadent; the roll that doesn't ask for attention because it naturally commands it. Dumbo Roll - A reliable shrimp tempura moment that hit every note it was supposed to. Oysters - Fresh, briny, and gone before I even realized how much I wanted more. A true blink‑and‑you‑miss‑it situation. Overall, the food was giving chemistry, the drinks were giving "come closer," and the service was giving "I'll circle back eventually." But that Baked Crab Roll? I'd return for that one like it left something on my mind. Lots of hits, a few misses. However, yes to Harriet's every time I'm in Brooklyn!

During the sales process, I made it abundantly clear that we would only move forward if we could be placed in one of the rooftop spaces with views of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge--not the Liberty space. I was assured this request would be accommodated. Upon arrival, however, we discovered that we had been assigned to the Liberty space, the one area I specifically said would not meet our needs. When I raised the issue, management offered no meaningful solution. A simple request to allow our guests access to a small section for photographs was flatly denied. Rather than attempting to resolve a problem that originated within their own organization, the management team seemed focused on explaining why nothing could be done. Merle, the Director of Banquets and Events, was professional and courteous and made an effort to help, but others in management showed little interest in accommodating a client who had invested significantly in food, beverage, and event space. What made the experience even worse was the complete lack of follow-up. Despite multiple managers being involved that evening, days passed without a single phone call, email, or acknowledgment from anyone in leadership. Only after I sent a detailed email outlining my concerns and copied the area manager did I receive a response from Murat Erbil, the Area Director of Restaurants, Nightlife, and F&B Operations. Unfortunately, his response was dismissive and portrayed the situation as though the team had done everything possible to accommodate us, which was simply not true. At no point did anyone acknowledge the breakdown in communication that led to the issue or take ownership of the fact that reasonable accommodations were available but intentionally denied. I oversee more than 50 events nationwide each year and work with venues across the country. Rarely have I encountered a venue so unwilling to make even the smallest accommodation to address its own mistake. Better communication and a genuine commitment to customer service could have made all the difference. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Harriet's Rooftop or conducting future business with 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. Event planners and organizations looking for a venue should understand that the promises made during the sales process may not reflect the experience they ultimately receive.

My favorite time coming here during happy hour, or during brunch on the weekends when it is less busy and more restaurant than club. Happy hour, is it exactly cheap but you're paying for the view with this type of spot so I don't mind the tiny martinis that are definitely overpriced when I get to have a fun view with great music. Personally, I have felt at the hosts are usually a bit colder but the waitresses I've had have always been wonderful. Another note, this is not the place to go if you were in a rush. The kitchen isn't on the same floor as the bar so it does take a minute for things to come up. For the food, everything is actually tasty. Nothing groundbreaking but all a good option to order. Personal favorites are the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Bavarian Soft Pretzel or the Haas Avocado Guacamole.
