Very good Japanese food. Tried Donkatsu, Bento Box, nicely done sushi (great sushi rail) attentive service and over all a gem of a find. Great outdoor space and even some floor level seating for those who want more of a traditional experience.

If I'm getting sushi I always seem to come here. Menu options and prices are great and the vibe is so good in there. I love the low traditional tables. Never have been disappointed here

I Yosaku. While I don't normally go in the winter I always opt for summertime visits. I absolutely adore their outdoor patio it feels like such a zone of serenity in Portland. The food here is incredible and fresh. I always opt for some sort of bento box because I love many things. I always see other tables ordering sushi boats. My mouth waters every time.

Excellent evening, delicious sushi and great service! We were seated at a tatami table, shoes are placed underneath and it was a first for both of us. Now, we are looking forward to finding the same experience on the west coast. Our service was quick, very attentive and our server was patient with our questions. The restaurant was comfortable, not too loud and very welcoming. We ordered the cold noodles, saki trio and the sakura platter, plenty of food for us but we wanted to try a few different dishes. This restaurant is located towards the end of town but easily walkable from many of the hotels. Parking is difficult in the area, so walking is definitely preferred. We had originally had a reservation for 9pm, but decided to try walking in at 7pm, and to our luck, they had a table available. We highly recommend enjoying a meal here. We would love to come back one day and will talk about this experience for many years! Cheers!

Always a delicious meal when I come here! I've been craving sushi and haven't been here in awhile. We decided to splurge and get the Ume sushi platter! Perfect for two people. My only recommendation during the busy season is to try and book a reservation!

Table for 1!! Sashimi! Sashimi! Sashimi!! Has to be one of my favorite lunches, light, bright and delicious! Sushi is definitely a lazy lunch. It relaxes you, no hurry, it's quiet and calm. Toro and ankimo in season you can't really go wrong. The sushi at Yosaku never disappoints, it is always fresh and delicious. Sashimi is probably my favorite because you really get to taste the fish. You wouldn't know that salmon has a lovely natural nutty flavor when you don't dose it in sauces. Another great thing about ordering sashimi is they give you real wasabi with it, not that overwhelming green play-dough. Scallop, two kinds of salmon, tuna, Toro, yellowtail. Uni w/quail egg, ankimo w/quail egg and eel sushi for dessert. I ordered an extra eel because it was so good!

I absolutely loved this place. We got sushi rolls, gyoza, and edamame. Everything was delicious and our waitress was unbelievably prompt and kind. I LOVE that they let you sit on the floor on the elevated platforms and their little seats. Boyfriend paid so I cannot speak on how expensive it was but it's probably pretty comparable to other Portland spots. THEY HAVE STREET PARKING which if you know me is my biggest deal in Portland. Would definitely recommend. Loved it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. The Tuna sampler was amazing and reasonably priced. Loved the saki flight, posted a picture of my favorite saki. Lemon drop martini was delicious. Everything was great and worth the price. Service was great as well. Definitely will be back.

As always the staff was friendly and helpful. On a cold January night, nothing is better than Niku sliced beef, onion, scallion hand made fresh soba. Awesome broth and perfect noodles. Also ordered Tuna and Scallop sashimi. Super fresh and great flavor. The scallop (Hotate) has become a favorite of mine, but I would only get it here at Yasaku. Constantly busy and a place we've return to many times.

Hat Trick, Gokudo, another I can't remember but very good!

I love this place! Me ands my dad used to come here a lot but I hadn't been back for a while- I remembered it being good but it was the best sushi I've had in a long time! We got 3 rolls (Gokudo, Hat trick, and another I can't remember) all super good! We also shared a bento box and I WISH I got a picture it was so good!! The miso soup was also great! The tea was pretty watery but all in all I love it here. It's pretty inside and the outside seating is very nice too! :) they have heaters!

Yosaku is THE spot for sushi! This place is fantastic and one of our favorite spots to grab the yummiest sushi in town. We first discovered Yosaku last spring, and I'm honestly a bit sad we haven't gone back more often. The sushi is so fresh and creative -- they offer the classics, like spicy tuna and California rolls, but also fun rolls you won't find anywhere else. The rolls are enormous; 5-6 rolls for two people is more than enough (and honestly, you might have leftovers). They also offer noodles, delicious appetizers, and everything you'd expect at a sushi place. Seriously, the menu is about six pages long. We've never tried anything at Yosaku that we didn't love. My favorite thing, though? The ambiance and the value. Yosaku offers outdoor seating under a beautiful tree, which is lovely during the spring and summer. Their indoor ambiance is just as nice and cozy. The value at Yosaku is unmatched. There are few places in town where you can get delicious, fresh sushi for this price. 4-5 rolls usually cost us $60 or so, a steal for Downtown Portland. Never change, Yosaku.

Delicious!!! Great service and atmosphere. Lots of variety on the menu and some things that were new to us

Maybe the lights were a little harshly bright, but otherwise a fine place to dine. We didn't get too many things, as we stopped in more for a finisher for the evening than full meal (we'd come from a party with small foods). We ordered a shoyu ramen and a dragon roll. Interesting note on the dragon roll, it has a sweet potato interior. This led to a distinct flavor from other rolls I've had in the past, and a smooshier texture, but a good roll nonetheless. The ramen was mostly a delight. Sumptuous broth, the egg was not too hard nor soft, and almost all the ingredients were perfect. Which I usually avoid that word because it's too subjective, but it seems to fit here. Major exception is the chashu pork. It was overcooked to the extreme. No other word for it, these dried out circles of meat were thick and chewy, and soaking them in the broth couldn't save them. Sad. Otherwise, some of the best ramen I've had since leaving Japan. The only other note I'd have is I just wanted some tea, and had to order a weird tea concoction to get it. Sometimes you'd just like an oolong tea, nothing fancy. I recommend this restaurant, overall, and hope you enjoy it too.

Mr. Tuna is one of three Open Table Exclusive restaurants in Maine, so most every local Chase Reserve card member uses their twice yearly $150 credit here, which explains my visit. The people watching from the outdoor tables on Middle Street must be some of the best in the city. You could easily sip a glass of sake (the dreamy clouds was...dreamy) while eating a toro maki roll and marveling at the tourists waiting in a two hour Eventide line. But we ordered the lemongrass fried tofu salad, salmon toro sashimi and 3 maki rolls, including the green crab special. Everything tasted fresh and excellent with only Yosaku in the same league for Old Port sushi. Of course Yosaku is much more authentic Japanese than Mr. Tuna, though Mr. Tuna is more fun. Like most trendy Portland restaurants, lunch for two with a couple drinks each is $200 all in (get that Chase card!). We showed up with a small line waiting to get in/pick up orders. Once inside we waited a little bit for the staff to arrive to greet us, once they did we were told it would be a wait for a table or could sit at the kitchen bar right away. We snagged the two furthest bar seats with a slight peak into the kitchen watching food being prepared. They had QR codes around for you to scan to pull up the menu. Overall it's a small space as well as being a thin and narrow space. Be ready for a possible wait for a spot to open up. To start off we grabbed some cocktails, my wife got their Shiso Lucky (Roku Gin, shiso, lime) and I got Kochi Sunset (Shochu, yuzu, blood orange). Also for a starter we decided to have the Lobster Buns. Cocktails were great and well made. The lobster buns were a fantastic unique way of enjoying lobster. My wife did find the texture of the bun to be not ideal but overall enjoyed it. Entree wise we both decided on the duck ramen. We both enjoyed it very much, my wife could have done without the menma (fermented bamboo shoots). I wish it had more duck in it honestly. The duck was extremely tasty in both the normal meat and meatball. For our return eventually we will both likely try a different ramen to branch out. Overall a pretty solid overall experience. Some small changes could make me change it to a five star from my current four. It certainly fulfilled the ramen craving and I could see this being a no -brainer for stopping at during the brutal winters Maine has.
