BEWARE I have experienced multiple instances of cheating at this store -- where the price charged at the cash register is higher than the price shown on the sign on the shelf. I complained on three occasions. Once they corrected pricing at the register. Twice they refused. Yesterday I refused to complete purchase and left store angrily. I will NOT return. RIP-OFF OUTFIT. Enter at your own risk. The employees do not wear face masks. I prefer to give my business to small independent store like Sarasota Wine and Spirits and I have been shopping here for over 5 years. I will never again step foot in this store. They clearly don't care about the safety of their employees or customers. I'll be heading to the Walmart liquor store across the street where masks are required for both customers and employees. Stay away if you value your health. read more

I visit Sarasota Wine & Spirits a lot more often than I should admit. I live right between them and Norman's Liquors on Clark Road, where I used to shop. I buy liquor, wine and beer - and until last summer when I quit smoking cigars, I picked up a few cigars here too. The wine selection is very good. While I don't buy all my wine here, I am generally impressed with the selection and the prices. The wine cellar has a lot of good premium options - especially in Chardonnay, Cabs, French and Italian options. I wouldn't mind a wider variety of upper-end Spanish reds. There is also a very nice selection of wines outside the wine cellar, with prices lower than most of the local competition. My only beef is that the whites are often more than three years old. Whites don't age like reds, they just get old on the shelf. I always check the vintages when I'm buying, which is important at Sarasota Wine & Spirits. They also have a great selection of Scotch and other whiskeys. The service is good, not great. If you need help and ask, you'll get it. But the level of friendliness is comparable to your typical liquor store. I've also been given some recommendations that were not all that helpful. But again, it is fine. My only other suggestion is that they find a different loyalty program or work a little harder on recognizing the larger purchases. I rarely walk out spending less than $150, and often my bill is more than $300 (we entertain a lot). On several occasions, I've spent more than $1000 for our work parties or holiday parties. My discount is always the same - $5 off the next purchase. On a whole, I give a big thumbs up to this establishment for the variety, price, and quality of service. read more

Entered with my small service dog, A young blond disheveled punk behind the cash register immediately told me that I was not allowed to have my dog and to get out. Never asked if the animal was a working one or not. In general the service stinks, their prices are good and that is the only thing that kept me going there. No more. This kind of attitude is despicable and they will lose all my business and everyone to whom I relay my experience. read more

This is my go-to liquor store. I've been going there for years. Their prices are the best in town for what I buy...30-40% lower than Publix. They have a wide, if not encyclopedic, selection of wine and spirits and a "cellar" for conessoisseurs. They also offer tastings most Friday and Saturday afternoons. This is a place to go when you know what you want and want to bag it and get out with a minimum of fuss. The staff is capable and efficient, if not chummy. As for the person with the "service" dog, be aware that there are health regulations with penalties banning dogs from certain businesses and many types of faux service dogs, so the clerk (who's no longer there) may have been justified. Grump at cash register is apparently a cheat. I purchased 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of Knob Creek. I gave him a coupon for $1 off up to 2 bottles of wine. I asked him twice if he gave me the credit of $2 and he said yes. With many people in line and only one person checking out I took him at his word, signed the credit card payment and left. When I got home and checked the receipt there was no discount. I'm sure he knew I would not come back for $2. I'll never go back. Go to TOTAL WINE where they are professional. read more

I'm surprised at the other reviews. Sarasota Wine & Spirits has some of the best prices in town and an excellent, large selections of bourbons, including limited releases. Don't expect a lot of help, but if you know what you want or just want to browse Vodkas, Scotches etc to find something new at a fair price (many lower than Total Wine). I used to shop at Norman's, but Sarasota Wine seems to have better prices, at least an equal selection of liquors and many more bourbons. I'm not a wine drinker, so I can't compare. read more

This place has a good selection of spirits and wines and the prices are the best in Sarasota. I've never had a problem with any of the help. They also have good sales. Good heavens, you're going into buy a bottle of booze; this is not to be judged like a fine dining experience. I want cheap, I want fast, and I want inventory. They have it all. read more
