There is a reason this place has a loyal following! This is a small, independently owned business that has been around for 37 years. I went in a mani/pedi before an upcoming trip/wedding. Li and Karen were both wonderful - so friendly and welcoming as well as very detail oriented and patient. They made sure the polish was dry before leaving (and I blocked off enough time to sit for a bit). Karen shared that some of her clients knew her when she was pregnant and have now seen her child get married. The staff here have been the same for decades, and they know their regulars. I love this salon for many reasons; starting with its "Mom & Pop shop" feel. It's the longest standing business of its kind in Saratoga, and it's where all the long time locals go. Saratoga Nails has been in business here in town for many years, close to twenty. I have been a regular customer since they opened. Staff is friendly and efficient and they try to stay on schedule. Customers arrive late sometimes which certainly makes things difficult for the manicurists. Saratoga Nails uses excellent products and offers many services. I go there for silk wraps and have never been disappointed. I always have the work done by Jessica, the proprietor, or Karen. Both do outstanding work in a timely fashion. For pedicure I always request Lee. She really knows what she's doing and deals well with toenails that have been damaged and have become thick. My feet always look nice when she is done with them. I am careful after having my nails done and always stay rather long using the fan or incandescent light nail-drier. I have never been rushed. If you want to watch television, one is available. Just ask Jessica to turn it on. The ambiance is very utilitarian. But the prices are fair and actually lower than many other salons. As in many places where all the work force is the same nationality, the manicurists chat together in Vietnamese. Bring ear plugs or head phones if this bothers you. If you are worried they are talking about you, well... so what. That's life! Parking is a breeze... on the street, in a lot across the street, or in the lot behind the shop. As part of ME Day, I continued down Big Basin after my massage and facial for a french mani and pedi. Lo and behold, Saratoga Nails was right there. The owners were nice and so were the technicians. I spoke Vietnamese, so maybe that's why. As you all know, if you don't speak Vietnamese, they may talk sh*t about you. Ha! ;) They do not have the massage chairs, so that maybe disappointing to some. This salon has been doing my manicures and pedicures for a many years. I love the staff and would never recommend one individual over another as they are all equally wonderful. The massages are relaxing and rejuvenating. The results of the services performed are consistently good. I have learned to trust that every time I come in to Saratoga Nails that I will get better than expected services. The price point is perfect for my budget. Their location on downtown Big Basin where most places are a lot higher in cost has attracted me for years and in result I have developed friendships with the staff. Even to a person who has never had a manicure before I can tell the results were not what anyone would want. This little salon on Big Basin was pretty busy, the only thing that attracts people in is probably the dirt cheap prices. This place was kinda...."ghetto" for lack of better words. I just felt uncomfortable the whole time. Things are kinda falling apart and all the furniture was just kinda collected together from an office sale- not very professional looking. One of the male staff did my friends nails and even though her's looks ok, she said that he seemed hesitant and didn't really know what he was doing. The lady who did mine was quick but she just cut off the tops of my nails to "square" it out, but she didn't really file the corners. After a recommendation by a friend, my mother and I checked out this nail salon on a visit to Saratoga. For a pedicure (that does not include the Spa chair) they charged $18, which seemed like an affordable rate seeing as you are asked to sit in a chair and have your feet cleaned in a portable foot spa. The ladies were nice and welcoming, but professionally, eh. After they were done with our toes, they asked us to put our feet on the ground and put a portable fan next to our feet to dry off the nails. I wasn't comfortable with that seeing as the carpet had stains on it and there were nail clippings on the ground still. They didn't even offer a towel for us to dry our feet on. My mother also inquired about the flip flops that most salons carry for when people come without the right shoes for a pedicure. Our pedicurist said they ran out which shocked me because if you are a nail salon, opened on a Saturday, shouldn't you make sure that you are in stock seeing as this might be a busy day? Finally, the nail techincian never came back to check on us once we were done. I had to go find her to pay her and then found out they only take cash or check, no cards. I thought that was interesting seeing as most places do not take checks anymore. Overall, I should have known what I was agreeing to when I was told the prices. I have been coming here for 22 years and have commuted from marin for 9 of those years. I get crystal acrylic with a gel cover and have never taken them off my natural nails and have never had a infection. The nails don't lift and I can go 3 weeks in-between fills. I garden without gloves and am still able to have great looking nails. Jessica and Jimmy the owners work hard and have great employees. They have massage chairs, air filters to keep the dust And smell down and use uv sterilizing equipment. You can even have your own tools and nail polish stored for your own personal use. The pedicures are done in the massaging chair and for hygiene they use new liners for each customer. They have a drying station and in the winter they keep the place warm. It is a very friendly atmosphere. I obviously love. them to drive 1 1/2 hours to have them do my nails. Large, friendly, great work and very reasonable prices. read more

It was not terrible. It was cheap certainly. And upon walking in I adjusted my expectations. The guy two doors down tried to get us to come back, but we left because all their chairs were full. I found the place to smell weird and everything did look sort of slapdash... I agree -"ghetto" Eva calls it. Conair home pedicure set plugged in under a manicure table, and plastic bags lining the pedicure bins. I was going to get pedicure but literally got a $55 pedicure in Palo Alto from a shi-shi place and wasn't about to see it go down the drain -literally- for $18 if this place sucked. So having just had a manicure, too, I just got polish change for $5 while my friend got her pedicure. Her massage lasted forever and she said it was worth it. I came to Saratoga Nails to get a full set, but I was swayed by Thuy to try out the Shellac french manicure instead. I haven't really heard of Shellac manicures (I know, where have I been) but I was enticed to try it because she said it doesn't chip like a regular manicure, but it doesn't destroy your nails like acrylics do because you don't need to file down the entire top part of the nail. Anyways, Thuy worked her magic, and my nails ended up look AMAZING. I am OFFICIALLY hooked on the shellac manicures! My nails look just as good as acrylics, and what's great is I don't have a plastic tip glued on the top. The whole thing is my nail. For $25, the manicure is just as much as acrylics would be. The only downside is taking the nails off, but i'll deal with that when I have to. Go to Saratoga nails. Ask for Thuy. Get the french shellac manicure! Just do it. read more

This place is the best as far as price and service goes. I had been on a long hunt to find a place that was cost effective and took care of me. This is the place. They do are respectful and take their time. The best thing is you can buy your own equipment and they will keep it for you. There chairs are brand new and give great messages. I came in for a brow wax and ended up gettin a BUNCH of other things done.....the lady there is very pushy. Some guy did my nails which was a little weird and he was terrible!! He filed my nails down so hard it started to get hot and burned. He made no eye contact, no communication, lots of talkin in another language to other people working there. Within 18hrs the nails were breaking off and by day 5, the whole set was off. My pedi was way lame also. Foot soak, foot lotion, nail polish....not relaxing at all just kina rushed. read more

Meh. I went here for convenience in terms of location and time but I probably won't return. It was overpriced for the quality. The staff is plenty friendly but I'd say they do a very average job on your manis and pedis. Even by the end of the first day, you could tell the outline of the paint dry from your nailbeds. Staff is SO friendly! & prices are ridiculously cheap. $9 manicure & $18 pedicure. I used to go to Pinky's in Cupertino but the staff here is just so sweet, they're gonna turn me into a regular! For the price I paid, this was definitely a treat! For only $32 (pre-tip), I walked away with a beautiful french mani and pedi for a wedding. And, the polish stayed ON for the next 4 days! I haven't had much luck with polish staying on in the past -- and I've paid up to $55 (before tip) for the same treatment. My only two complaints: they don't have the massage chairs -- but I would go to this place without them than to an overpriced place with them. Best prices ever. I"m a loyal customer for 11 years. There are fancier, more expensive salons in the area but Saratoga Nails is my favorite comfortable, friendly, neighborhood establishment. Most of their customers have been going there for years and are greeted by name. They do beautiful work, I've gotten acrylic tips, pedicures and now the new shellac manicure -- polish NEVER chips! My husband and I get pedi's here together. It's the only place I've been able to convince him to return because they give amazing foot/leg massages. I have not had my nails done here yet, but highly recommend their pedicures. They are thorough, all of the supplies they use are clean (they even put disposable plastic liners in the bowl for each new client, massages amazing! Saratoga Nails is great place to get your nails done and oh! they give fabulously long and enjoyable pedicures. I have been going there for years and recommend friends and family as often as I can. My dad even goes there monthly for a pedicure. Men, women and children; they take care of everyone! Their prices are extremely reasonable too. $15 for a fill, $9 for a manicure and only $18 for a pedicure. They are always busy but always seem to be able to take me when I need to come in. NEWS FLASH!! Jessica has started doing eyelash extensions and did a fabulous job for me! They looked natural, and stayed on for SIX weeks. I brushed them from time to time with a dry mascara wand to separate the lashes after sleeping on them but otherwise, they required absolutely no maintenance. And what a time saver when putting on my makeup in the morning! No mascara! That isn't even the best part - her prices are lower than any I've seen in this area. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Jessica. I am going back next weekend for another set. (Oh - and she has been doing a great job on my gel nails for the past 4 years as well. All of the staff have done nails or pedicures for me from time to time and I have never had a complaint. The massages that go with them are heavenly. I really wanted to like this place. The decor was very dated and cluttered. There were no formal soaking baths, just a basin with a plastic bag lining it. I didn't really see any evidence that they were sterilizing the equipment. Usually a salon will open up the sterile pack in front of a customer to assure them that things are sterilized and clean. Lastly, one lady cut my cuticles so jagged -like that the polish didn't adhere in a clean line across. My nails sort of looked like I did them myself. Not really perfect like they should be for the price I paid. I think they should read the reviews and improve on some of the things people are complaining about. They should start with doing a simple makeover on the facility. It should look nice and clean and tidy. Get some real foot basins also. read more

They are mean here, especially the English speaking technician. She got nasty when I told her I like a strong touch during the hand massage. They told me my polish was dry when it wasn't, so when it smeared and I came back to touch it up , the mean one talked about me to her current customer as if I wasn't even there. I've had very nice pedicures and manicures from Jimmy, Jessica, Karen and most of the other nail technicians at Saratoga Nails over the past 10 years. It's easy to get an appointment or just drop in. The prices are very inexpensive and the technicians do their best to accommodate everyone. I prefer the portable foot baths which are wrapped in disposable plastic...it seems more hygienic, but Saratoga Nails does have several large massage chairs with attached foot baths. read more
