The salon is very sanitary, the sugar scrub and hot stone massage feel extremely good, and the polish lasts about a month every time. Great place just around the corner from my house! I'm disappointed that I didn't find it sooner :P It's the little things that make it feel worth a couple $ more than other places. I walked in for a pedicure and they immediately started pouring the water. They placed a glass of water with lemon in it on the little ledge along with a plate of assorted nuts (I don't like nuts but appreciated the thought) and one girl brought a couple of magazines over and adjusted my chair for me. Very thoughtful service :) The pedicure itself--no pain, no discomfort, very relaxing. in addition to the usual lotion rub you get at most places I received a hot stone rub! I had never had one before and it feels really cool! I got regular paint and it looks great. I checked in on yelp and received 15% off my pedicure ($5 off of $30), so be sure to check if there are any yelp specials! One more thing: I brought my own polish and accidentally left it there :P so I called back and the woman on the phone said no problem, come back any time. I received a pedicure and manicure from Lisa. She talked non-stop which was super annoying! Additionally, she forgot to trim my cuticles and apply wax. When I asked about it at the end of the manicure and pedicure, she asked if I wanted it done now. One doesn't trim the cuticles after nail polish is applied! Lastly, a 2 year old could apply the nail polish better. It is done in such an unprofessional way. Super sloppy! read more

A fill with Shellac is $30, which seems like a lot but I feel the work is worth it, no chips or cracks and they have a great selection of colors. My nails are lifting really bad Im going to call and make a fix it appointment because i was really disappointed. Things have been changing at Retreat Nails including the staff and that's a good thing! Jenny, the owner, is still there but she lost a few employees and the replacements are actually better! The new employees are much more attentive, getting ice cold water with a orange and cucumber slice for each customer, WITHOUT EVEN ASKING! The new employees are always cleaning up and organizing things, including the polishes. The polishes are now all in color order so I found a color I had never tried before, even though I've been going to Retreat Nails since they opened. They also have new services like hot stones and the massages for both hands and feet are better. The biggest change is that they have become super busy, so now I actually have to call in before heading over to make sure someone is available. Prices are all the same as when they opened their doors. Overall, good service, friendly staff, clean environment and wonderful job on my nails. read more

Kathy was absolutely amazing! I came in during my 1 hr lunch break thinking she would need the whole hour to do my acrylics and gels. Nope! It only took her 1/2 hr, leaving me time to actually be able to eat! She works quickly and precisely. She's not much of a chatter and into socializing; she's too focused on her work and doing a great job -- which I totally don't mind and actually prefer. Jenny, the owner, is also incredibly friendly. I am what I like to consider a nail salon/nail art connoisseur and most salons do not live up to my expectations. Honestly though why would I may more for what I can do at home and in this case better! Also I think if you have such a relaxing name like retreat nails then you should not be bickering loudly. Although relatively speaking, it's much more quiet than other salons. The first time I came here I had incredible service! So much so that I came here again. If you know me and how specific I am with my nails that's an anomaly on its own I returned. Unfortunately, I won't return after this visit. Service seems to be hit or miss. This time I visited I had three nail techs work on my nails! Weird, right? One tech started by filing and another finished an did my massage and the rest of my polish and such. The third came in when they had trouble painting my right ring finger. Their massage was ehhh, this is the service I come for and this location lacked. I can do my nails at home better usually but it's really hard to massage my own hands! So they really let me down there! Plus I don't think my friend Soni K. got a massage at all! The color choices are nice, but they could have more. I do like that they have exclusively OPI for their general colors and not those cheapy brands. This place is not anything special, just your average salon, but overpriced since it's in Saratoga! read more

I have been going here off and on for over two years ( once a quarter at minimum) and they are consistant! Best chairs around, I feel like I am getting a mini massage...from neck to tail bone, from tail bone to the back of my knees. But Jenny and crew are amazing. She is willing to take text messages for regulars to book apts, most gals know how to give a good leg and arm massage, admittedly some are harder than others, but I like mine deep tissue style. The prices are fair, this is no chop shop. They care about their customers and love regulars. I feel at home, love the cleanliness, and can even bring in a bottle of wine for me and a friend to share. They are lovely ladies and I like talking to them, but are really good when I just say, "today I need quiet." Everything is clean, sterlized packages for every person too. They are regularly updating their polishes and decor, they care about their business. I will admit this is one of the more positive reviews I have given so that will hopefully give you some insight to my extensive review and opinion. read more

I personally was pleased with the end result but I noticed a lot missing from my service. First of all she didn't clean my nails or push my cuticles or ANYTHING like that and went straight to just applying acrylics on my nails. Then she CUT me with the rotating device and it hurt so much of course when she later applied alcohol directly on it. I don't remember the lady's name but I wasn't really happy with what I got. They were also longer than what I wanted but she definitely was fast. Overall, I'm definitely not coming here again. Not worth the money :( read more

Jenny and team are always friendly, as well as detail oriented.y wife loves the super hand-painted artwork on her toes when she is inspired to do so. We like the ability to get some brow/face touch ups too. They are like a family there, and they treat us (including our little daughter) like we are extended members too. If you want something different, a little more massage (my shins need it!), or a touch up a couple days later b/c you screwed up, they are more than happy to help. That's what's earned our loyalty. Oh and yeah, they speak Vietnamese. If you'd like to learn some, just ask. Our daughter and us are getting some free chat-level lessons while we're treating ourselves at the same time! read more

Clean salon, they opened a fresh pack of tools for my mani/pedi, I observed the employee doing my pedi to immediately douse the foot spa in Barbicide after my pedi. I went at 9:00 on a Monday and was the first and only client for about an hour. They did a great job, were friendly and attentive. I'm not sure why this place is rated so highly... came in yesterday with my friend for manicures ($20) and they have great colors, all OPI which is the brand I like. I spent most of the time talking with my friend and in between I noticed that my nails were filed a little sloppily so I asked her to fix it and she did! That was great. Normally I expect a manicure to last a good amount of time and I like it when they give good massages, but the massage here was so-so and was relatively short. I have weird bumps on my nails too and I'm not sure why. Also, after 24 hours my nails are already chipping... not a good sign. They don't even provide fans to help you dry your nails. I asked if I could get a design and they don't have sample designs. She showed me black fireworks and thought I'd be impressed... well I wasn't. I'm not paying $5 so someone can paint messy streaks across my nails. Basically, I got a decent manicure, but I wouldn't come back here unless I was in the area. read more

I first posted a review for Retreat Nails in April of 2013. I loved this salon then and nothing has changed. The salon and the equipment is always scrupulously clean, the services professional quality. They make me happy. Jenny is a great technician and a good manager, her staff stay with her. I don't know the names of all the women who work there, but Loan and Lisa are great. Oh, and the manipedi in 2013 was $50 and the price has remained the same. As a mom of two, getting a pedicure is absolutely the most wonderful thing I can do for myself that is totally kid-free (no more facials or massages sadly). So needless to say I take my pedicures seriously. After moving to Campbell from South San Jose I had to find a new place for my toes. I tried at least 3-4 places before finding Retreat Nails - they aren't super-close to my house, but are close to where I work. From my first visit I was sold. The chairs are super comfortable, the salon is clean and charming, and the ladies are wonderful. They let me read my magazines in quiet (heaven away from the kiddos) and my toenails are always perfect at the end no matter who I see that day. Also, they are hands-down the best at removing calluses and rough edges around your feet - all without that awful tickling sensation! I've done one manicure in the year I've been going there and it was one of the best I've received, but I have a harder time justifying the money on manicures that I destroy in two hours. Not that their services are expensive - $30 for an hour-long pedicure is awesome, especially when the quality is so high. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place, but I will not be coming back because of something very specific they did. Here is the story: Needed a fill and new gel color. Called in ahead of time, and sure enough, they were ready for me which was great. That lady that worked on my nails was professional, sanitary, and worked quickly, which definitely gets a star. They talk to each other in Vietnamese, which loses a star. That's a negative because it feels like they are taking about you. I asked for purple nails with black ring fingers. She did that, which was great. Unfortunately, the purple needs another coat because it's streaky and I can see my nail through the paint. I will post a picture, so you can see. The final straw was when I went to pay, and I mentioned the Yelp $5 off deal which was where I discovered them this morning before the appointment. Immediately they started speaking in Vietnamese back and fourth. They told me that it only applies to pedicures. I said Oh okay, paid and tipped. Went to my car, checked and it does not say applies only to pedicures or anything. It says "$5 off for new customers". Really guys, you'd lied to me for $5? You think I'm stupid? I hope you enjoy the $5, I won't be coming back, which is a loss of a lot more money. Don't offer a Yelp deal if you will lie to get out of it! read more

So after reading all the good reviews, I decided just for the heck of it to give this place a try. Getting an appt was easy - I reached 5 mins late for which I apologized. Couple of ladies were lounging in the break room - one of them wearily got up and told me to pick a color - no smile, no hello, only a look of boredom. I sat down for the pedi and again no one asked me anything like my name or even if the water they were using to wash my feet was too hot. The basic service was OK. Decent mani and pedi, all done with straight faces and eyes averted. I tried making conversation ( and I am not the most outgoing of people), but no response. Its not a deal breaker, especially since both the manicurist and pedicurist were obviously not comfortable talking in English, but even basic questions weren't asked. The mani color was a little outside of the nail area, but I decided not to press it. Paid my bill with a decent tip and was on my way. Very average experience and I felt like I was imposing on them the whole time. Will stick to my regular place from now on. read more

Gel pedi - lasts forever. The ONLY reason I gave 2 stars. They rush rush rush their way through. They want you in and out. I don't like that. My last gel mani was horrendous (started peeling 3 days later - peeled off very easily) and they charged me WAYYY too much. I had a gel pedi, gel mani and also paid for my Mother-in-laws mani (no gel - clear polish) for $100. I mean, isn't that a little steep? I went to a new place today and I was blown away. I went in for my first time on a rainy day, and when I walked in, literally nobody was there. No staff, no customers, the staff was hiding in the back. I rang the bell and they came out shocked like I wasn't suppossed to be there. I had an appointment that they didn't remember, even though I called an hour prior. I have been going to this salon since it opened and have been very pleased with the service, the variety of products, and the suggestions with regard to my manicure. I have been introduced to a new product known as Shellac. Although Shellac may not be for everyone it is for me and I love it. Thank you Retreat Nails for recommending it. The salon is a clean and a relaxing environment. I am not one to visit with the employees and they respect that. My mani and pedi is MY TIME. There have been occasion for me to use other nail spas because I joined another friend at her favorite spa or was out of town. Retreat Nails is reasonably priced, not the cheapest but not the most expensive. They do not give a price and do the ADD ONS (the extra for this and extra for that). I love that Retreat Nails is a contributor to the community, giving discounts to students, making special appointments for Prom groups (how fun for the students) and special appointments for ladies night out or birthdays. I have never had a problem to the contrary if I mess up my nails or a nail they figure out a way to get me in for a quick fix. Great place to get your nails done! I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and two customers had just left , leaving the place customer-free during my visit. The salon is clean and modern. $50 for a mani/pedi and no extra charge for french, yay! The ladies that work here are METICULOUS. Let me just start off by saying I don't get my nails done that often - this was my second time ever at a nail salon. Came in for a gel manicure for an appointment an hour before closing, and the ladies here really took their time to prep and paint my nails. Unfortunately, I ended up really hating the color, and I wasn't sure if it was proper etiquette to stop the girl in the middle of the painting. When I finally did say something, they very apologetically explained they were booked solid for the rest of the night. However, Jenny invited me to come in the next morning before they opened so she can fit a gel soak AND another manicure appointment for me. Needless to say, I was extremely grateful that she would do that for me and didn't mind the extra cost it required to fix my mistake! read more
