$9.19 plus tax for rice, veggies and a little protein.

It seems as when this location changed the majority of its staff, it change the quality and quantity of what they gave their customers. The prices of gotten more expensive and the portion sizes have shrunk almost half. My last time coming here it had questionable results but we tried to give them another chance. That will not be happening again. I received 6 shrimp, in claiming it was 4 oz of beef more like 2 and a 1/2. Being someone who's had to measure their food before, I'm well aware with 4 oz looks like, like a burger patty. And if that wasn't bad enough, I requested more veggies than rice. When we opened it and showed it to the manager he made up some nonsense and almost put his fingers in my open container! Thank God my reflexes are fast I snapped that lid so quick, I almost caught his hand. Two words.... never again.

Been a loyal customer via DoorDash since 2020. I love this spot. I would give them 5-stars but have to go with 4 because it seems their proportions overtime have gotten smaller. I wish I had a picture from last year because they used to give a lot. I can understand a restaurant changing their servings but I miss having a lot of food. Anyways. The taste remains and to me, it's good! It reminds me of a place I used to go to at a mall in Virginia. So it gives me nostalgia. I will always choose this place on DoorDash as my go-to when I can't cook dinner or think of a lunch place to eat at. I went to the location once. It was pretty nice...of course seating was closed though because that was during heavy COVID times. And when I went there, all the employees were helpful and attentive! I'm just never in that area like that anymore which is why I choose to DoorDash it.

They're back! Which is perfect since I went back to work and can finally grab some teriyaki again to take out. Masks are required to enter this establishment. Staff are wearing masks and gloves. There is a plexiglass installed at the counter to protect both staff and customer. All of their seating and tables have been removed and pushed to the side. There is only takeout available, no delivery last I checked. That's all the updates I have as of August 2020. Their chicken teriyaki is still a winner in my heart so stop by and show this business some well deserved love. The cashier at the counter is also very nice!

Food wasn't good. Ordered a spicy beef bento and got regular. Beef was chewy and over cooked. Food was cold and tasted old. They gave small amount of wasabi and ginger for the sushi didn't give me any soy sauce. I'll pass

I wish I knew more locations of this place. I think the restaurant was a decent size. The making of the food was slow but it was worth the wait. The food overall is just good & I wish they can open more restaurant locations all over. I also like that the price was reasonable for the amount of food you get. This was my first time at a store because usually I go to the one at the mall but the store is much more presentable. Also the mall don't have any of the option the store has. Open more store locations!!

Chicken Teriyaki special with fried rice and steamed vegetables

I first visited this Sarku location when I was pregnant with my son. My hubby and I had the intent to go to the Pizza Hut next door but then the photos in the window of Sarku caught our eye. I figured I would give it a try since I was pregnant and craved something different and this would be my first time trying out Japanese American food. I was quite satisfied with the taste of my food. I had the chicken teriyaki which comes with a side of steamed vegetables and your choice of white rice, fried rice, brown rice or lo mein. I had fried rice but should have gotten white because it was just too greasy. Overall the food was good with a nice teriyaki flavor that was not too over bearing. I usually visit when I am in the neighborhood.

Sushi here is trash. I just ordered $100 worth of sushi for the family to give them a try. They have only six rolls to choose from and the shrimp tempura was the worst. It looked and tasted stale, like they had it there for days. Really disappointed because we love sushi.. I'm going back to traveling an hour to get sushi at Sushi Tatsu ii on Franklin

Probably the best chicken teriyaki fast food I've had. Delicious chicken teriyaki and a generous portion- very filling. It was only an additional $1 for extra chicken, which is a pretty good deal for the amount you get. They give you extra sauce on the side without asking, which is a plus. You could also swap the white rice for fried rice, noodles, or brown rice for only a slight additional cost - which I feel isn't too bad for the personalization that it allows. All in all, a satisfying meal for less than (or around) $10. Place was also spacious and clean.

Only spot like this in the area so in thankful. Of course the sushi isn't really great, I'd be weary about Eating the raw maki rolls from them but other than that this place is really good. They make standard teriyaki chicken at a good price. I like that get include a cup of extra teriyaki sauce with your food. I got the bento box and also received salad dressing and spicy mayo free of charge. Wait was pretty long for how empty it was at the time so I suggest you call ahead if you go in the middle of the day. They food was good, I'll be back. Btw they have a special going on until February. Bento boxes are a dollar cheaper and so is the chicken teriyaki.

I usually enjoy the food here, but just purchased the #4 from the menu with extra chicken and brown rice.. When I received the order, there was clearly no extra chicken. Again, they have short changed me... Well, I won't be going there any longer.

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. I've only ever been here in groups of two and I probably would recommend it for smaller groups because the space itself is small and most of the tables are two-seaters if I recall correctly.

The strawberry part was more like a jam, so it was a little sweet for me, but overall a decent drink. I would have preferred crushed strawberries, though. Later, I came back for dinner at the tail end of the day. I was leaning towards the beef curry bowl because I like bolder flavors, but the karaage chicken is a hit here, so I ordered that in bowl form. First off, all the contents were very fresh! The chicken pieces were crisp and tasty. The burdock on the side had a smoky umami that was quite nice - it was the best of the 3 sides - and the spicy mayo was on point. Still, I think I would have gone with the curry given my taste buds, but overall the karaage bowl is a solid choice. Lastly, while the container looks small in circumference, it is taller than other takeout containers, so the portions are really about the same as any other restaurant. The nori fries were subtle in flavor but the nori still made its presence known. All in all it was a great experience. The owners are very nice, also. I will go back for the curry and yakiniku, too.
