    Chicken Teriyaki over Fried Rice!
    Patricia C.

Great tasting FLAVOR on the chicken teriyaki per my Sister. I totally concur after she let me try some of the chicken chicken with some spicy hot sauce on it! For a small box of chicken teriyaki over fried rice, you only pay $3.50!!! Not sure how much it costs for a larger box, but I'm sure you will get your money's worth! Note: You have the option to add on more food items or mix and match with extra charge. It's still worth it for the BIG PORTION they give you! Apparently, I've eaten here before a few years ago per my dearest friend D. Zhen, but I forgot to make a Yelp review or maybe it was before I started yelping? Welps, better late than neva! Please give this place a try during lunchtime. It won't disappoint! TIP: Ask for MORE SAUCE with NO EXTRA CHARGE! ;D

    $5.49 + $1.00 drink = $7.00

I asked for hot green tea while he got a bottle of Japanese pineapple soda. We ordered at the counter because no one was when we entered so we didn't know if there was table service. This spot used to be a Chinese takeout so it is definitely on the casual side. We sat at one of the tables (5 two tops). We had grabbed some disposable chopsticks and napkins from the counter. When the server came with the tonkatsu and tempura, she had napkins and chopsticks for us so I guess we didn't have to help ourselves beforehand. She then came with a lovely teapot and two small cups for the tea. The tempura was different from most places - no crunchy panko crust and no dipping sauce. When she came back, I asked about a sauce and she pointed to a small dish with thick dark sauce. I had thought that was for the tonkatsu. The poke took even longer and that was also different from what I'm used to. The fish pieces were not marinated - she gave me a small dish with soy sauce. The sliced jalapeño was also a surprise. I had thought I would get a spicy marinade on the poke. I mixed in the soy sauce and ate it with the sliced jalapeños. When we came home and looked at the receipt, the prices were weird. The tea was $1.56 and the $22 dishes were $22.88. Apparently we were charged a 4% credit fee which wasn't disclosed - or we missed the sign.

Both were excellent and tasted like something that came out of my grandmother's kitchen. The owners are Peruvian and Japanese-- imagine those 2 cuisines melded to create the most flavorful meals. Fantastic.... Simply fantastic. The food reflects the love they put in. Remember, you pay for what you get and a not a single dime went to waste while enjoying every last bite. I live about 1.5 miles away and will be making the trip back this way regularly now, as they have a new customer and fan.

Intimate setting where you can really enjoy your dinner and company and also get to know the owners. Family owned and taken care of very well. All the food here is fresh and delicious and creative. Not your standard NYC Japanese restaurant but they take care to all their dishes. Highlights were the special tofu dish and toro salad. Tempura were all made well and not oily. Great katsu and anything on the sushi menu was divine. Love the toro, yellowtail, and sea urchin. Can't go wrong with either the nigiri or sashimi choices. A wonderful alcohol selection as well with special items i've never seen before but very refreshing were the green tea beer and the yuzu beer. A gem in forest hills and a must try. Definitely a repeat go to place and wonderful place in the neighborhood.

I actually appreciate that they are reservation only - it does make for more quality conversation with your party. We ordered the Agedashi tofu and Magritte duck as appetizers. Both were delicious and had really great sauces that paired well with the dish. For entrees we ordered their black cod, pork hirekatsu, sashimi plate, and their snow crab avocado roll. The black cod was absolutely delicious, so tender, cooked to perfection, jam packed with flavor but not tough or mushy. The hirekatsu was another hit - four large pieces, fried to perfection. The pork itself was still moist and juicy. The sashimi?? So fresh and cleaned perfectly! The quality is definitely on par with what I get in the city so the price is absolutely reasonable to me. Lastly their snow crab and avocado roll - also really good! I love how sweet the snow crab was, there also wasn't too much rice on the roll which was appreciated. Overall, we had a wonderful time dining at Katsuno. While the prices may seem a bit high and portions of certain items may not be the largest, the flavor really is authentic and the quality of ingredients used are good too. We will be back!

We ordered a combo with chicken popcorn, which paired perfectly with our meal, and ended on a sweet note with their matcha jelly dessert. The Thai tea was good, though a bit rich and sweet for my taste. I'd recommend diluting it slightly to balance the flavor. What really stood out, aside from the food, was the ambiance. We were seated in a cozy, semi-private booth (almost like a little dining nook), which made the whole experience feel more intimate and relaxing. The staff were also quick and courteous, adding to the overall great vibe. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.

We had to press the button on the wall in order to get a server to come bring us waters and an extra place setting. That said, we were 5 people squished into a four person booth so I don't know if this place is great for groups. The food came quickly but was delicious and really good. We tried a bunch of ramens and they were all delicious. I tried the omarice, and it was good, but the glaze lacked flavor. I feel like it would be better to go with their curry sauce. Overall, a decent place for ramen, but not going to seek coming out here.

Generally the slices are nice and thick and there's plenty of rice, but when I ordered this as take out, they gave me much less rice which I didn't expect. I'd also say that they're happy hour is very generous and they have a decent variety of drinks like plum wine and beers. This place can get very busy and it can be difficult to flag down staff. It would be nice if they had one of those buzzing buttons that you could use to call the staff. Overall, still my favorite place to eat at in person. My wife had heard good things and we had been craving sushi for a while, so we took a stroll over and gave it a shot. I went with my usual order -- a spider roll and spicy tuna -- and both were solid. I tried a third roll as well but honestly cannot remember what it was, and it did not leave much of an impression either way. The first two though were good enough to bring me back. The highlight of the visit was honestly our server. She was cool, spunky, and had a great sense of humor. We ended up laughing and joking around with her throughout the meal, which added a lot to the overall experience. Pleasant visit all around. We will be back.
