Just as bad as the first time, with even worse attitudes to me and the two customers behind me, as well! Being open-minded, I decided maybe 3rd time was the charm. Huh. I was wrong : 3 strikes and you're out! Today, after getting coffee , baked goods (try Sassafras' homemade cookies!!!) and pleasant service at my fav coffee place, I couldn't believe what I saw on Subco's window: these people actually posted a tacky, childish, window sign that read: "closed for the winter- enjoy your hot dog, or at least pretend to." What kind of person attacks a fellow business owner so rudely and publicly - especially in a small town!? Well, I thought to myself, with a recommendation like that, I better try that hotdog place! Thanks for that fantastic suggestion guys -- I will be going to Walk The Dog from now on! Being a business owner myself, this is horrible community etiquette from subco. I often bring my employees to GL for a little R & R and will never go to this sub place again. I support small businesses, but not rude small businesses.

That being said, it took over an hour of listening to terribly overstimulating music with bad vibes to actually get our food. Our kids were hangry, as were the children at a few other tables as well. I ordered the Vegan Witch (I LOVE kimchi) and my daughter ordered the Gus Special No. 1. We also all ordered various sodas/Olipops. The prices for the sodas were absurd, and the side salad that I ordered with my vegan witch was flavorless. I was kind of shocked at the kids' menu options and expected better ... my daughter of course ate it, as she's 4, and who doesn't love cheese on tortilla chips, but what an odd lunch option. I would have preferred more kid friendly veggie options for the side veggies, as radishes are a bit strange to plate for a child ... my sandwich was good, but just seemed to be lacking something. Staff were incredibly nice, but with how slow service was, I would not recommend going when you're actually hungry. I also don't recommend for kids. It was a fun experience and a nice find for in the middle of nowhere, but I guess I was just hoping for a bit more ... The bathrooms are nice, and my daughter and I loved the banana and lipstick lights on the bathroom walls that were also for sale. Cute place, slow service. I'll probably never be in Green Lake, Wisconsin again, so I can't say whether I'd return or not.

This place is amazing! The coffee is great and the baked goods are also delicious. But one of the best things about the shop is the service. All of the employees that I have come across have been amazing. They always have a smile on their faces and all look like they love their job. They are very kind and go out of their way to make the experience even better. I ordered an iced mocha with caramel which was recommended by a staff member named Maizey. It was delicious! She was very nice and I will be sure to get another one of her recommendations. I went back later in the night to get ice cream with my family. The staff working was amazing. There were two boys and then the employee named Maizey. I couldn't remember the two boys names but they were fantastic. Everyone was good at scooping ice cream. The options were great. I think that this coffee shop is amazing and is one of the best that I have ever been to. I went back again the next morning and the other employees were also great! I highly recommend this coffee shop. read more

This was my first time visiting Pleasant View Bakery after hearing great things from my neighbors…read more It's definitely a long drive, it made for a fun little field trip to rural WI, especially Amish country! When we arrived, we noticed a large parking area. The bakery is housed in a charming blue-and-white building. We didn't realize we could park right next to it, so we ended up parking farther away and walking about 3-4 minutes. Not a big deal, but since it was around 90°F that day, parking closer would have been nice! There's a small sign on the ground pointing to the bakery, and next to it is a lovely picnic area with a few tables and chairs. When we arrived, there was a small bucket with $.50 each zucchini and a beautiful garden nearby. About 20 people were ahead of us in queue but the line moved quickly--we waited roughly 20 minutes. The bakery itself is inside a small house. As you enter, shelves of fresh bread loaves line the right side, while jams and other pickled items are displayed on the left. The register is straight ahead, and behind it is the kitchen where we saw women braiding dough for pretzels--made fresh on-site! The pretzels are huge and cost $3.50 each. We bought one, and it was soft, chewy, and delicious. They also offer an assortment of baked goods like fruit pies (individual and full-size), cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, and more. The cinnamon rolls are what they're known for, so we grabbed a couple, and my husband really enjoyed his. Near the register, they also sell day-old pastries at a discount, which is a great way to sample more items. One thing to note: they do not accept credit cards--cash only. As an Amish bakery, there's no electricity, so the space is naturally lit and a bit dim inside, but surprisingly not too hot even without air conditioning. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The baked goods were tasty, the setting was peaceful, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. We'd definitely stop by again if we're in the area.
