Have an annual family reunion in green lake and some of my cousins and I have a little tradition of going to this place on Sunday morning. Such a cute, cozy, lake vacay spot! This year I had a strawberry matcha and a pecan roll that I devoured before I remembered to take a picture (SO good!). Quiche, pastries, and all of the coffee beverages are always a hit. There was a little bit of a line when we arrived, but they move quick, and we still found a spot for all 9 (!!) of us to sit relatively together. Will be back, year after year. read more

Stopped here for coffee and pastries in the morning. It's one of the few shops that was open by 7am. I ordered a latte and also picked up an iced latte, and 4 pastries. I haven't had an Apple turnover in a long time and it was really good. Flakey, crispy and full of apples. The other pastries I ordered were muffins which were very well received. I like that they had unique combos like strawberry and blueberry instead of just a plain blueberry. The banana nut Bundt was popular too. All was good and glad I stopped in. read more

This is an adorable local coffee shop in downtown Green Lake that I am proud to support! The decor is super cute. I love that they have coffee bean filled center pieces on the tables. What makes this shop unique are the little personal touches. Not only do they serve your typical coffee menu full of lattes, cappuccino, espresso, etc., but they also have beautiful artwork for sale, delicious flavored popcorn to purchase and freshly baked goodies! I enjoyed a delightful pumpkin latte last time I stopped in; brewed to perfection, topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon - yum! The women who is working every time I'm in here is such a sweetheart (I assume she's the owner). She has a great sense of humor too! My gal pals and I have popped into this cafe more then once to cure a hangover... I mean, uh, lack of sleep and she welcomely humored us :) read more

As a frequent visitor to Green Lake, I often go to Sassafras and enjoy the amazing gluten-free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, a variety of healthy juices (like the Beetle Juice, which really tastes good, is good for you, & is yummy!) Everything we had was delicious. Iced sugar free hazelnut latte, breakfast burritos, a donut, and muffin. Everything was a good price too!

I call Sass my second office... my only issue is that it's not open much longer every day! (Oh, and it's so popular that she often runs out of my favs.) The salads and wraps are freshly-made most days (two days at most), and in winter the soups are the best I've ever had! ("Cream of mushroom" and "chicken curry" are especially delicious and have a depth of flavor.) Also, daily-made baked goods are always a treat. She has almond and soy milk, gluten free cookies, stevia, etc. for those who need dietary accommodations. Bags of coffee for sale (she'll grind them if you request it.) Now, as to the coffee... without getting into the details and pretending that I'm a coffee connoisseur, it has everything from smoothies to frappes to espresso to a nice selection of Daily coffees. In Green Lake at the Green Lake Conference Center and stopped in. Good coffee, great prices for coffee. Pastries were higher priced. $3.50 for a lemon blueberry pastry, $10 for a loaf of apple quick bread. Only one person on staff on a busy Saturday am but quick service in spite of that. Love this spot! This is my first time to Wisconsin. My family and I came for Airventure at Oshkosh (boyfriend built a plane so he flew it out here from San Jose, CA) and we decided to stay at the Heidel House. Well, of course I'm going to Yelp for restaurants and organic produce, coffee, blah blah that are close by from where we were staying and I immediately saw Sassafras. The reviews were excellent so course I'm going to check it out. This place did not disappoint. First off, the coffee is good. The fact that they also offer almond milk and soy milk in addition to regular milk is a huge plus. Ordered the latte hot one day and the next day, cold. Both times were perfect. Definitely fell in love with the vegan peanut butter cookies. Kudos to the baker! Also tried the pistachio muffins and the chocolate chip and berry muffin. I forget what berry but it doesn't matter, just try it, it's delish. They also had salads which were ready to go and your pick of dressing(Italian, balsamic, ....). The salad was perfect to pack for Oshkosh and the dressings felt like they were homemade. I was nervous coming here I wouldn't have too many choices for organic homemade products but I was wrong and I'm so glad this place exists. Thank you so much. Lastly, on both times I went, 7/27 and 7/28, the girl at the counter was super sweet. She made my experience here even more awesome, such a friendly kind smile. Thank you guys so much! read more

Wonderful little coffee shop in Green Lake. Stopped in on our way through not having high hopes for good coffee in a small town but we're pleasantly surprised. We each ordered a latte and they were excellent - hand crafted the way they should be with a strong espresso flavor. I hate lattes that have nothing but milk and a hint of coffee flavor, but these reminded us of our trip to Settle. Atmosphere was warm and simple, service was fast and very friendly. read more

While there was a small wait, I didn't mind. The owner was the only one behind the counter, but she made the drinks as fast as possible while still being friendly and making conversation! Nice small town coffee house. Very friendly Carrie made us feel right at home and was great at greeting and talking to every patron. The coffee was Milwaukee's Colectivo (3 regular, 1 decaf served that day), and all of the baked goods she cooked looked good (our muffin was great). I went to this coffee shop today on my day off// The owner is not particularly nice to me.. Do not know why she feels this way towards me... In winter have shoveled her walks to make customers safer.... She was quite rude to me after purchasing coffee de-caff 2 dollars for small.. Plus she seems to be a gossip type person indicating to me she has favorites? Better coffee at ripon shops that is for sure!!! read more
