Went for dinner tonight and I will not go back . We had 12 people and only 5 enjoyed their meal. I order the Tenderloin at a cost of $29.00 and it was so tough I couldn't eat it. Never had that happen to a tenderloin. The salad bar had soup that was almost empty and they had just opened up about an hour before we arrived. No bread no salt and pepper. The only good thing I can say is our server Abbey was wonderful and very accommodating. She did take 2 of our meals off the bill. The other dish was broiled fish and chips. We sat by the big stone fireplace and it was a cozy evening of catching up with fine food and good drink. Definitely a place for a great meal! Absolutely maybe the worst place I've visited. Walked in at around 3:45 and it took 5 minutes to be greeted. After 5 more minutes of the hostess figuring out of it was lunch or dinner she decided to give us both menus. We were seated and asked for drinks. I ordered merlot. They came back with something else and I said "no", I order merlot of the menu you provided. In a disgust she came back with the correct drink. We decided to get an appetizer before our meal which was ok, nothing special at all. After syrups 10 minutes the waitress decided to tell us we would have to wait 45 minutes for our meals, I asked for our check. There was much confusion and unorganized chaos throughout our 20 entire minutes. This is a bar that maybe once was good,but no longer. The hostess was horrible, kitchen staff unorganized, and bar was in chaos. The waitress we had was the only nice person there,and seemed to be emberrassed by all this,I don't blame her. I had the fish fry, my wife had the walleye. We had a reservation. I was impressed that the orders came out quickly, but, after the first bite it was obvious that the entree was pre-made and sat around a while. Fries were cold and inedible. No rolls, just a piece of marbled rye. The cod was ok but if this is the best fish fry in town, I feel sorry for the locals. Wife only ate a part of her walleye. She was dissatisfied as well. I wanted this place to be so good! The location is wonderful and the clubhouse is beautiful -- but the service and the food left a ton to be desired. When I called the restaurant to see if they were open a grumpy man answered "hello" as if it was his own phone. I've been here for their Friday night fish fry dozens of times -- well, about 4 times a year for the last 7 years at least. Same order. Every time. There's a reason for this and that reason is it's freakin' amazing. My order: 3 piece haddock with potato pancakes, apple sauce and sour cream. It comes with a half slice of rye bread and slaw. I of course indulge in a glass or two of wine as well. The fish is breaded to perfection and the portions are large. The slaw is not consistent but it's always good and I'd be lying if I said I didn't kind of like the element of surprise. Potato pancakes are bomb dot com and I love that you have your choice of apple sauce, sour cream, or syrup to accompany them. The decor is very lodge-like and cozy. It's a pretty large dining room area with a big bar, and an additional more private room. They even have outside seating looking over the golf course in the warmer months. The staff is always friendly and the bartender that's almost always there is a gem. For the most part we always have great service, but I've heard they don't handle busy times too well (think 4th of July, prime time summer nights, etc.). Maybe something to work on. My only complaint: the bathrooms. Although they are clean, I really despise the doors on each stall. Whoever though that swinging barn doors were a good idea thought wrong. Kinda awkward and definitely not enough privacy. I will continue to come here for Friday night fish fry EVERY time I'm in Green Lake. I seriously always look forward to my meal here. It wasn't very good. I'll just be honest. The prices are decent enough, but the service and food is very lacking. I got the ceasar salad with grilled chicken. The lettuce was wilty and soggy. I had asked for no cheese, and that had to be corrected when the salad came out. My brother got salmon. It was overcooked and under seasoned. Very disappointing. He still ate it, because we didn't want to complain twice. He got fries with the salmon, along with the soup of the day. The fries were terrible. Like microwaved from frozen is what they tasted like. The soup was actually very good. So it was the star of the meal. Our drinks went unfilled for quite a long time. We kept trying and failing to get the attention of our waiter. We recently visited 680 there were 14 of us. First of all they did not seat us together with no explanation. Out of 14 of us only 3 meals were satisfactory. Steaks were tough seafood inedible chicken dry a burnt toast and finally my cheeseburger was like a hockey puck. I've been here numerous times and always had a good meal. My friend and I got dressed up to go to a nice dinner. Upon walking in the restaurant we weren't greeted and when two employees saw us, one of them said whispered to the other and laughed while making eye contact with us. After being sat by another employee, nothing upon on the menu jumped out at us and we decided to go somewhere else. About damn time. That's about all I could think of when driving to 680 North. You see, this Fish Fry Guy hadn't had one since October. Ever since my new job, it's been tough to make time, or even HAVE time to eat an All-you-can-eat Friday Night Fish Fry. Thanks to my Uncle Gary planning a family get together in Ripon, I knew this could very well break the drought. And it did! An Email from my Aunt Grace Ann led me to here. She knows of my love for the Fish Fry. She said this is a favorite of theirs. I'm sold. After unpacking at my Aunt & Uncle's home, we loaded back into our car & made the drive to 680 North. It's about a 15 minute journey from Ripon. The restaurant is located on the grounds of a golf course. Which, for the most part, means it's probably a little fancier, and it is. They have a fireplace smack dab in the middle of the room. You could call ahead and see if you can reserve a table by it. Some couples had done that, and were having a romantic dinner out. My Aunt had reserved us a table for 6:30 and it ended up being the first table in the place, as soon as you walk into the restaurant. The restaurant itself is done up Northwoods style. Log cabin motif. I liked the getup they had going on in there. After catching up with the family for a bit, our server stopped by to inquire about beverages. We all were ready to order our food at this point so we just ordered everything with her. I got a Wisconsin beer brewed by Horney Goat. A Brownie Porter. My Aunt & Uncles ordered the Manhattan Clam Chowder. Alyssa & I had talked about sharing a cup of it, too. We just never ordered one. From what we heard, it was really good. The wait for our suppers was long. With Pheona along, Alyssa had to get up with her to walk around because she was getting fussy. They were gone a good 10 minutes and when they came back, our dinners still hadn't arrived. My guess is about 25 minutes. What I got when it came looked great. 3 pieces of golden fried Beer Battered Haddock. A small bowl of creamy coleslaw sprinkled with Paprika on top. Two nice sized Potato Pancakes with Applesauce & warm syrup to accompany them. Also, a plastic ramekin of Tartar Sauce and a perfect wedge of Lemon. The Haddock was cooked perfect. The Beer Batter was crisp & flavorful. The Filet flaked away from itself. The Potato Pancake, not so much. They were undercooked and a bit mushy. They were quite thick, too. I prefer a nice crisp crust on the outside and these did not provide that. They are the 2nd worst Potato Pancakes I've ever had. The Coleslaw was good. Perfect cutter after eating so many fried food bites. The Tartar Sauce went well with the Fish. Albeit a little skimpy on the portion size. When our server checked in on us, we ordered 5 extra pieces. Again, the wait was atrocious. Both my Uncles, Bob & Gary, plus my Aunt had finished their suppers and were ready to go, & we were still waiting on the reorder. When it finally came, it didn't come with the Tartar Sauce we requested. However, these pieces were fresh out the frier & even better than the first ones we got. Steam was puffing out of them when cut open. So, kind of a give & take. When you're forking out dough for a service & product, that shouldn't come into play, though. Alyssa told me was the bathroom wasn't the best for privacy. The doors to the stalls are similar to old saloon doors with no lock and a 5 inch gap, so people can see you in the stall. Creepy. If I was grading this on Fish alone, it would be a high four star review. Taking everything into consideration, it's a middle of the road Fish Fry. One thing I wouldn't mind going back for, is to see if I could score one of those tables by the fireplace for Alyssa & I. read more

First time here and took a chance since there were no reviews. Well, we have no regrets. We both ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon and it was excellent. It comes with a lemon dill sauce that us out of this world. The meal also comes with candied carrots and a white rice/basmati rice mixture. Soup or salad (mostly homemade dressings) is included. The evening headed downhill from the start when I was served a martini with blue cheese olives that were mushy and had the faint taste of mold. For dinner I ordered the Canadian Walleye which had so many bones that I gave up eating it half way through. When I flagged our server, she apologized and offered me a free dessert, which felt patronizing. I didn't complain to get a free dessert, I wanted dinner. Our server relayed my complaint to the chef who also apologized ( through her) and told her to tell us that in an effort to get everyone's meals out in a timely manner, he didn't do as good a job de-boning the fish as he should have. That should have prompted the restaurant to: A) Offer me a better de-boned piece of fish. B) Invite me to choose something else from the menu, or C) Take the entree off the bill. None of these options happened, even when the manager came by asking how our meals were. If you're going to promote yourself as a fine dining establishment, then be one. read more

The drinks were sub par- and while they are all called "martinis" they are not served as such. We ordered the fish platter and scallops, all I can say is, meh. I'm hesitant to give this place 4 stars because the food is only three stars worthy. The all you can eat haddock was decent at best. My boyfriend ordered the Green Lake Medley and said it was alright. However, I am giving four stars because even though it was busy the service was excellent. Our waitress even apologized for being slow and neither of us thought she was at all. So much so that she gave us a free piece of snicker cheesecake. The cheesecake was the best part. I'd come back and maybe try a burger or something else on the menu. The decor is pretty, meant to look like a log cabin. If this is your first time in the area it is a bit hard to find the place in the dark, as it is tucked away in the golf course. You can get to it from both main roads but the signs are hard to see. read more

The shrimp cocktail was waaay over cooked and inedible. The service was slow and inaccurate. The Friday Fish fry was overly greasy with a boring batter. The salad bar was pretty good, featuring a number of different salads which were overly mayonnaised, but tasty. I liked that there were two soups to choose from. The cocktails are pretty good. The atmosphere of the building's stonework and log beams mixed with the beautiful views of the golf course outside, saves this place from being one star. Another gripe ...The ladies restroom stalls have these annoying barn doors which don't lock, so you have to hope that while you're using the facilities, other people don't just walk in on you. Eeek! It's extrememly uncomfortable and nerve wracking. Solution, install a simple latch on each door. Voila! prooblem solved. read more

Stopped in on a Friday night from out of town. Had an excellent old fashion at the bar before being seated. Everyone friendly - host, bartender and server! Have had the fish fry in the past but wanted to try something different on the menu. Chose the chicken pot pie - hot, flaky perfect crust and lots of chicken. Would very much recommend! I came to 680 North as a college student trying to escape the cafeteria food. They are running a varying weekly special this spring - a great idea and looks like a lot of great options each week - of which on one of the weeks I went for wings. The wings were great! they had multiple different sauces, of which I tried them all, and would recommend them all. Also of this day they offered all you can eat Rib, which my friends had order. After seeing their meals I questioned if I had made the right choice with the wings because they had looked so good; in the end, no choice was a bad choice. Although the food was fantastic, the service was a little slow. We waited a long time for our meals. During this time the waiter was extremely nice and would continuously check to see if he could do anything for us. Other than the dinner taking a little long to come out, the over all experience was great! On another night I had eaten there, then ordering a perch dinner followed by cheesecake. I had no complaints about the fish. It ranks up there with any of the best fish I've had. The cheesecake though was absolutely to die for. I would recommend to anyone stopping in at the restaurant to order desert, and in particular the cheesecake. read more

This review is for the Sunday brunch at the Green Lake Lodge on the same property, as the regular restaurant was not open for business that morning. I was very disappointed in the breakfast fare available at 10:00 a.m., and the staff gave me attitude when I asked for ketchup, said they didn't have any on site but would "send someone up the hill" to 680 North to get some, but by the time they brought it, the food was cold in addition to being unpalatable. Overpriced for the quality, but if you want some fresh fruit, prepackaged baked goods, cold salads, green beans, and beef stroganoff for breakfast for $16, go for it. read more

My husband and I had a lovely dinner there on a Saturday evening. Service was great. Food very good. Prices were reasonable. I had wrapped pork chops while he had a queen cut of prime rib. Both entrees cooked to precisely to our order. Sides were good but unimaginative (not up to a foodie's standard). Salads and appetizers were also yummy. A definite must if you are staying across the street at the Heidel House like we were and a cut above the food we had there. read more

A very solid performing restaurant, not spectacular but they aren't pretending to be, it's very good value for money, good menu, good salad bar, good bar and of cours good atmosphere and solid staff. One small thing is that we always have to wait some time for our beers, their process of waiting tables and bar could be swifter. We love to go on the fish fry evenings, call ahead though! If you are looking to have a wedding - look HERE! Beautiful views, incredible venue, delicious food and great service and ambiance. HUGE shoutout to Anna and all the staff at 680 North that made our wedding reception the best night EVER! Anna coordinated all the decorating (we dropped off stuff and she placed the decorations), she helped design the custom menus, etc. When we first entered she and her staff greeted us with champagne, Michael their piano player was playing on the baby grand, and we had delicious appetizers. Our dinner was perfect, we sat with our backs to the beautiful fireplace and ate the most amazing prime rib and potatoes. After we finished dinner someone in our group started a conga line and the staff joined and people in the restaurant greeted us as we went around. What a phenomenal experience, I could not as for a better day and evening. Thank you Anna and everyone at 680 North for going up and beyond for us to make this day AMAZING!!!!!! read more
