Super disappointed to have to write this. I don't like leaving negative reviews especially not for smaller businesses. That being said, I have consistently gone here for two years and my last experience was so bad I will definitely not return. My friend and I called beforehand the day of to schedule for nail sets (my friend also added a pedicure.) We ended up being late due to a couple logistical things but since it was a same day appointment and the place accepts walk-ins, I wasn't anticipating it to be so large of an issue. By the time we walked in, there was plenty of free chairs, it wasn't like they were flooded with customers and by us being late we ruined their day. As soon as Vivian found out we were the ones that called in earlier and were late, she was rude to us for the entirety of our time there. She kept making snide comments about us being late. I have no complaints about the girl who did my manicure. Vivian did my friend's pedicure and manicure. She kept leaving every 5 minutes to do other things in the middle of my friend's service which made her take an hour longer than me. It felt like she was choosing to be inattentive because she was still mad about us being late. She kept making backhanded remarks to my friend and giggling to herself. Then she nipped my friend's toe while cutting her cuticles (she started bleeding.) She walked away and came back and said "what happened???" instead of acknowledging that she was too rough when buffing her nails. When it came time for me to pay, Vivian made a couple other backhanded and rude comments I decided to ignore. I noticed the price she wanted to charge me was completely different than what I saw online for the service I received. When I questioned the price she backtracked and said "Ok, $80" which confirms my suspicion she was trying to upcharge me thinking I wouldn't notice. She got super offended when I asked for the pricing breakdown and she kept saying "see I'm right you're wrong" and she went back to giggling to herself. Just super rude. She then threw the tip envelope my way (when tips are completely optional as the signage states.) I'm never one to not tip but the way she behaved didn't warrant one. While I waited for my friend to finish up, I went nearby to get a refreshment. When I came back Vivian laughed at me again and said "you're gonna drink all that?" insinuating I'm fat or something for getting a drink. I don't care who you are, this is no way to conduct yourself if you want to run a business. If the issue was us being late, she should've communicated from the beginning that she didn't want to service us. I've also taken multiple people here and for being a long time customer it's disheartening to know that you hold no value. Today was definitely my last time at Sassy. They showed how much they value quantity over quality. My entire experience felt rushed and I didn't receive the quality in time that you pay so much money for. The technician kept leaving mid pedicure to help others and it felt like she wasn't fully paying attention to me. My pedicure does not look cute at all m, instead it looks messy. I'm very upset because like I mentioned I have been going here for years and I went today because I am about to have a baby and wanted a relaxed time to pamper myself before going into labor. This was my second time here as a walk in and I got seated immediately. The woman doing my nails was sweet and knew what she was doing. However, when she was removing the gel from my nails, she nicked me quite a few times. You can see the amount of the now that they have scabbed a little. One finger, okay it happens, but 6 out of 10 fingers with multiple near the cuticles and the side is a lot. read more

I was in a hurry to get my toes done, so I looked for the fastest pedicure service available. I called ahead to ensure there would be no wait when I arrived, and I was quickly seated in the pedicure chair. I opted for the basic service, which was decent. My nail technician was nice and fixed my grown-out nails. However, the massage was light, and I prefer more pressure. Sassy Nail Day Spa has been my favorite place for pedicures. I always go to Nancy, she's the BEST! Great pressure for massages and she always gets the shape of my nails just how I like them. I usually get a milk and honey pedicure with gel polish. No issues with chipping, the polish will last 4+ weeks if I'd let it. A little on the pricy side compared to other nail places, but in my experience, it's worth it. Technicians are licensed and the place is clean. They have newly upgraded pedicure chairs as well. I can't stand when salons aren't transparent and charge you extra for things they don't outright let you know about. Sassy nails has been my go-to pedi place for awhile now! I've probably tried most of the nail techs and they're all good but Christine is one of the best and her massages are so relaxing - she uses a combo of what it looked to be oil and lotion and penetrated it into my skin with hot stones. Past Positives: - I have loved my experience with Christine (wonderful pedicurist) and Vivian (manager) - Clean, easy to communicate with, many products and services to select from etc - Great massage Past Negatives: - asked for dip nails and they encouraged something else and that product did not work well for me. $100+ service was lifting/ falling off within less than 1 week when dip lasts me 2-4 weeks. Expressed this the next time - pedicure gel would come off at least 1 toe within a few days each time. Expressed this I had decided I would give a pedicure one more shot without gel. Present: Called to make an appt for 2pm today. Arrived to my appt about 2 min early. As soon as I walk in Vivian is shouting through the shop "I have been trying to call you, is the last 4 of your number ****?" I said "yes, why were you calling?" She replies "oh it's fine it's fine but I was trying to call you .....". I used the restroom and decided I didn't want to give them that last shot after all. I walked out. Headed to the car Vivian runs out calling for me, we chat for a moment and she tells me she was calling because the appt before me was 20 min late so they would have to push my appt back 20 min. NO PROBLEM on my part. I went shopping near by, returned right on time at 2:20pm. At 2:40pm I am just being helped. I am now a bit shorter on time than usual so I am selecting a bit less lengthy pedicure to make sure I stay on track with my other commitments. I tell them due to time I will do the Deluxe Pedicure (not my first choice but because of the 40 min delay that was at no fault of mine) and that I would like regular polish not gel. They then tell me well if you don't want gel then you have to pay $5 for us taking off the gel. UMMMM WHAT? I waited 42 min, I am a return customer and I am getting a PEDICURE with you (so you have to take my gel off anyways). I told them NOPE I WILL PAY YOU THE $5 to remove the gel and I will leave I will no longer patronize your company. As a business owner with integrity, I am sorry but this policy is absolutely ridiculous and just a way to talk me back into gel to avoid your $5 removal fee although gel is an additional cost. I appreciate the accommodation for a group of 7. We made the reservation in advance and ended up with 5 on a Thursday at 630. (They close at 730) to my surprise they were still accepting walk ins (4 of them after 630) even though we had two manis and 3 mani-pedi (2 of which were the tropical package ) I can only speak for myself as I was highly disappointed in the service I received. First things first, we are still in a pandemic. If you require your guest to wear a mask then you should too. She was not. Second, I know that I have a lot of skin around my fingers..and Vivienne mentioned that.. but that's why I'm getting a mani right? Or else I would have polished my nails at home. She was not only trimming my cuticles but the skin above it which left me with dry skin pieces just two days later and worse 4 days after. I rarely ever have this issue even when I wash my hands 20 plus times a day so I know I can say that this is due to the manicure. She did not ask me what shape I wanted. I felt she went with what was less work. She also got up multiple times during my service to take payment or retrieve items for her staff. I understand you may be the owner but you should not be getting up multiple times while providing service. The day after my mani my nails chipped. A few days after that the gel started lifting from the bed of the nail. She also did a poor job on my great right toe. I have been to many salons where they have shaped my toe nail to look decent but vivienne just cut straight across which makes it look so bad, I'm embarrassed. She did not put in the time to actually work on my feet. This service alone was 50$ She also kept trying to sway us to get the powder dip even though the three of us wanted matching gel. It was quite frustrating because we were polite about it. The tropical mani pedi was priced at 95$. I was charged 110$ due to the gel ( I assume). Also they do accept Venmo payment. Which is great, but They also prefer you write thank you and not include the words nail or tip. Even with this bad service, I tipped 20$ well which I regret. OK so just like everyone I found is cute nail spa in Newark California, and had to try it out. I was able to call and make a last appointment once I arrived to my appointment I was seated right away for my full set. I had a lady named Lisa now I just want to give some feedback about my overall experience. First off I made an appointment for a full set as well as a manicure and half way through my nail set Lisa recommended and said I don't need a manicure . As a customer I feel that most businesses would like to make money and up sale. But I have never went to a nail salon that told me I don't need something and practically denied me of a service. Second I told her that my nails were really sick and it was like she got upset and started filing and cutting my cuticles really hard which was a little uncomfortable. I'm not sure why most nail places get upset when you try to fix your own nails it's what we're paying for we're coming to them for a service I don't see why individuals get upset. Also during my service the chair that I sat in was so uncomfortable they look nice but not really functional to a customer. She kept telling me to move forward but there is a huge big piece of glass in front of my face where I was practically breathing on the glass when she could have moved forward instead of telling me to keep coming forward, But wasn't really comfortable at all. Overall experience I would definitely give it another try as it's very close to home and it looks like it has potential. But I might just need to have a different person do my nails next time. Made reservations for 2 for pedicures on Sunday, but somehow they had 1 on the books only. They were able to accommodate us after maybe 10 minutes. I got a signature pedicure at $35, $5 for French tips. I think my person did a great job cutting the cuticles, but the massage wasn't great and my French tips were only okay. I didn't feel like she was massaging at the right pressure or pressure points. The white on the French tips weren't very even, some parts aren't not as white as others and you can see the brush stroke. She only did one layer of white whereas other places usually do 2 layers to make sure there's even coverage of the white. A little disappointed but not the worse I've had. Absolutely horrible service from when they first opened up a couple years ago, to now. I tried out this salon when it first opened up a couple years ago, and didn't like how pushy they were about me getting a different service from what I originally wanted. They are the only nail salon I've ever been to in my life who are so pushy about the service they WANT you to get. So a couple years go by and I figure, why not give them another try? I'm sure they have a bunch of new employees and might have a different attitude. Definitely wrong. Let's start with the receptionist, Vivien. Right when she started to file the old dip powder off of my nails, the first thing she asked me was how much did I get my nails done for. They were a bit pricey since the nail salon I went to focused a lot on quality of their nails and designs. When I told her how much they were, she then began to talk horribly about the nails and the salon, saying that my nails should not have costed that much at all and started telling the other employees about it out loud. That was absolutley unprofessional and already made me feel uncomfortable. After she finished wrapping my nails to remove the dip, she handed the rest of the job to Lynn. Lynn was nice, and very quiet. I showed her a photo of the holographic leaves that I wanted on both my ring fingers, and she said she could do it. After adding on a couple coats of dip powder she began to buffer the sides of my nails. She was not gentle at all, and even cut me in a couple areas where I began to bleed. All she could say was "Oh no, sorry". I'm always scared when these things happen because I have gotten a skin infection before from getting cut by a nail buffer. I just wanted the whole service to end. She didn't even tell me that my service was done, I had to ask her myself while she was busy casually talking to Vivien. As I got out of my seat, Vivien looked at me and said "See, so much better huh?". I said "I don't know" and showed her a photo of how I wanted the holographic leaves to look on my nails. The holographic leaves on my nails weren't even noticeable at all. She said that it was my fault for choosing the dip powder, and in order to get that specific look I needed to get acrylic. Well why didn't they tell me that in the beginning instead of just winging it with clear dip powder??? lol. I was so over it, and just wanted to pay for the service and get out of there. As I was paying my bill, a customer came in complaining about how the nails she just recently got done, all cracked. Vivien looked at her nails and blamed the customer for why her nails were all cracked. LOL how unbelievable! Next day, I noticed the top coat on my nails cracked. I don't even want to go back there and ask them to fix it. I definitely will never be returning to this salon. I'd rather pay way more to get my nails done somewhere professional, than to pay a cheaper service at a place that makes me feel super uncomfortable, and blames the customer for the salon's mistakes. read more
