The mission of the Providence Zen Center is just simply to focus on compassion and practice meditation. That's it. And if by being more compassionate, learning to be more in the moment, learning to be focused and in control of our minds can help make the world a better place and help others, then heck yeah I'm going to keep doing that! I truly believe that people should at least visit the Providence Zen Center once, either on Wednesday nights at 5:30pm for dinner and meditation instruction and practice, or come check out the Sunday morning meditation instruction/practice at 9:00am and the Dharma (wisdom) talk led by a Dharma Teacher at 10:45am. The grounds are beautiful (there is a LOT of space to wander), the people are awesome, and they're even working on doing organic farming! I helped take care of plants when I stayed there. They've been selling their homegrown vegetables in farmer's markets after harvesting. The goodness they put into the local and greater community is immeasurable! It's a nonprofit organization too, so if you donate anything, it's tax-deductible. I sincerely hope that the Providence Zen Center can thrive but that can only happen if people continue to visit and join practice! I researched YTT for 3 years comparing three week residential programs, monthly programs, and…read morelocations across the country. Each year, Jane sent me her dates when I inquired, and finally in 2019, the stars aligned and I enrolled. While I wanted a challenging program, power vinyasa yoga was something I figured I'd "get through" in the training and then leave behind in future teaching. However, the way Jane teaches, I fell head over heals the first vinyasa class, which for YTT was 2 hours long! Sure, I was physically exhausted however I was also energized from the way Jane made a power yoga class of 2 hours accessible to everyone in the room at all fitness levels! Wow! The Believe You Can YTT has been beyond what I might have hoped for in a YTT program. Jane is authentic and not in this "for the money." She's the most open, honest, true human who practices what she preaches. Jane is supportive throughout training and brings out the best in every student! Nikki, Jane's assistant teacher, is a positive beacon of light shining alongside Jane! Together they're a dynamic duo of positivity and light! It was scary committing financially and personally to a YTT program. However, the Believe You Can YTT has been beyond my expectations or hopes! Jane created instant family for our group, and offers a variety of guest speakers. She has you buy minimal books and makes helpful suggestions of other reading and other topics of study for yoga that make sense for each individual student. Their new studio feels even more intentional and dedicated to their programming -- it's versatile, welcoming, and truly designed for community, movement, and connection. From pole classes to hip hop, salsa, bachata, workshops, and social events, there's such a wide range of offerings that make the space feel alive and accessible to so many different people. What stands out most to me isn't just the variety of classes, but the people and the care behind the experience. The instructors do an amazing job catering to different skill levels in a way that feels encouraging rather than intimidating. I recently took my very first pole class there, and I knew that if I was ever going to try pole, it would be at In Your Skin. I went in with zero expectations and left completely exhilarated. I was honestly surprising myself with what I was able to accomplish in just one class -- it felt like I was defying gravity at times. A huge part of that experience was because of Nicole, who was absolutely phenomenal. She was attentive, hands-on, supportive, and incredibly skilled at spotting, explaining movements, and helping students feel safe and confident. I especially appreciated how she blended pole with dance, creating multiple ways to connect with the movement and practice. But beyond the instruction, the community in that room was unlike anything I've experienced before. I actively participate in dance communities and travel both domestically and internationally for dance spaces, and the sense of support I felt during that first pole class genuinely stood out. People were rooting for each other in real, tangible ways. There was encouragement, celebration, and care that felt authentic -- something that can honestly be rare in movement spaces. I'm truly grateful this was the beginning of my pole journey, and I'm excited to continue discovering what I'm capable of through this studio. Another thing that matters deeply to me is who I'm supporting with my money, and the owner, Sada, is a huge reason why this space feels so special. She doesn't just own the studio -- she actively participates, teaches, and thoughtfully cultivates the environment both in the foreground and behind the scenes. Are the instructors able to challenge a seasoned practitioner without scaring away a green yogi? Yes. Will you sweat and challenge yourself mentally and physically? Of course. The instructors at Moksha will teach you how to make your practice as vigorous, gentle, or in-between as you like it.
