Provided clear guidance and 1-1 instruction on adjustments when needed. Despite the heat wave outside, I somehow didn't keel over in the 100* heat. The class is really easy to get into, and your body will thank you for it after. After all the stretching, you get to cool down as Carmen comes around to place a cool towel on your head and to perform an adjustment to your neck and shoulders. And while I absolutely loved it, Carmen was clear to note that if anyone was uncomfortable with the adjustment, they could opt out without judgment. She definitely creates a very warm (literally), and welcoming space! Thank you so much for having us Carmen and I'm absolutely looking forward to coming back for another class soon! Just a couple tips: - Bring iced water (liquid iv IF you need), maybe a light snack for after! - Bring a small towel (you will sweat!!l - Seriously don't wear cotton!!! I found leggings, a sports bray, and a light cover were perfect! - Check your yoga mat to see if it works for Hot Yoga! If not, no worries, just grab a microfiber towel to lay down onto the mat once you really get sweating cause things can get slippery!! - Don't be afraid to use the support blocks for your knees if needed! It really helps you get the best stretch possible without injuring yourself in the process ;) - Finally, just have fun with it and try to get the most out of the class! Most places just see clients and dollar signs. The Studio is diverse with various rooms where they do different things. It's a small studio, meaning small classes where the instructor can truly pay attention to each student. They also keep the space warm, but not sweltering. I find this to be the perfect temperature to help me loosen up my admittedly very unflexible body and get a good sweat going, without being so overheated that my mat is covered in sweat and I'm ready to pass out or throw up (as I've experienced at other hot yoga classes). Each instructor's practice is a little different, meaning it never becomes routine! It's always a different experience for your muscles and your body: ideal for growth. I'm a total novice at Pilates, so Tara took time to explain proper form and alignment, which I really appreciated. We spent the first part of the session doing mat exercises, and then she led me through some exercises on the Reformer. Tara was friendly, encouraging, and patient, and her explanations were very clear. She adjusted the exercises to my level (absolute beginner), but she also made sure that my form was totally correct, and I'm really grateful for that. Setting up the appointment through the Align website was easy, and I was relieved to find that the studio has its own parking lot, so I didn't have to worry about finding street parking. The studio space is clean, welcoming, and large. I'm looking forward to checking out the group classes at Align and maybe taking some more private sessions.
