Tried calling numerous times from 10 am through 10:30 with no answer. Figured they were just busy. Walked in and 3 different people looked at me like I had barged in on a speakeasy. I asked if I was ok to come in and they said "...yeah. We're working" I said I'd like to buy a bike. 2 of the 3 people quietly walk away. The lady that didn't escape in time says "what kind of bike?" I told her a commuter, and that there were a couple I saw on the website that I liked. She turned back to the box she was unpacking and blew me off. What the hell even happened in there lol? I already had bikes picked out. All they had to do was say hi and take my money. I'm going back to Trek or Bingham. If you value great customer service and a low-key, no pressure sales atmosphere, you can find both at Saturday Cycles. I'm a recreational rider who hates her current Schwinn bike. I went in to Saturday Cycles looking for a new bike that I'll enjoy riding. The shop has a neighborhood, garage feel to it. It's full of bicycles and accessories, so full that you have to find a path through the shop. But that's only because they have a really nice selection of bikes -- for everyone from the casual, recreational rider to the hardcore, fat tire rider. I loved the vibe in the shop. I was greeted by Margie, a lovely woman who took the time to ask me about my riding interest, skill level, and budget. We talked for a while then she showed me two or three bikes that might fit the bill. We settled on a Bianchi Torino (I've added a picture of it. It's powder blue with beige fenders.) I took the bike for a spin around the block and fell in love with it. I added fenders and a rear rack to the purchase. Margie said she'd install everything for me and I could pick the bike up later that day or the next day. When I saw the finished bike, I smiled and I mean, really smiled. It looked great. Mark, the store owner, made sure everything fit, installed a free kick stand for me, helped me mount the bike on my bike rack, and generally made sure I was ready to ride as soon as I got home. Not only did Joe check out what was going on with that but he did a mini tune up on it, in a matter of minutes. Located on the Nothwest corner of 600 N and 300 W in Salt Lake. Not in Bountiful. I had a minor bike problem and went in just before they closed. They were very helpful and were more inerested in helping the customer (me) than going home. I was impressed. Once I started avidly cycling, I had a bit of a hard time finding a home base bike shop. I danced around to different shops having a variety of experiences but nothing overwhelmingly positive to make me going back until I found Saturday Cycles. Now this is my go-to shop for everything from tune ups, gear, clothing, parts, and advice for both my race bike and my commuter. The shop has a different vibe than most bike shops...it feels more like a garage (it pretty much is) which I think actually makes it less intimidating. Additionally the staff is really cool, helpful, and friendly. And most importantly they are not high-horsing like many people do that work in bike shops. Cycling has more than its fair share of elitists but you wont find that attitude here. If you are looking for a good shop, look no further. read more

Everybody that has mentioned how laid back this place is has been very right. No pressure and still very good service. I know nothing about bikes. I have a cruiser without gears and backpedaling for breaks, but I wanted to get something that I could use to travel around town and my cruiser is just not quite right. While I know nothing about bikes, I know what I like and what I don't (aesthetically) and comfort wise. Max was so very patient with me, giving me space to think about it, answering my questions, and not judging me. I tried two bikes, one was too small and the other was on the large side. Max could tell I was not quite in control of the large bike so he suggested I come back after they put together a bike that would fit me better. No pressure to buy the one that was too big or one that I hadn't tried. I will be back. read more

Totally LOVE Saturday Cycles!!!! Mark really knows bikes - you can tell he's incredibly passionate about bicycles and that's what makes his shop so special. I took a vintage schwinn varsity bike that was in pretty good shape but needed some love. He took the time to show me all the accessories/parts, explained all the pros and cons and helped me find the best options for making my bike work for me. He even ordered cheaper parts for me so that the operation wouldn't cost an arm & a leg. Plus I like the atmosphere of this bike shop, I feel like I could hang out there all afternoon with a coffee while listening to KRCL on their radio and check out all the cool stuff. My girlfriends bike had recently been clipped on the corner of 3rd and 3rd. We were potentially looking for something used but Mark pointed out a petite new Urban bike that fit her perfectly. It was already a great price and he openly offered to drop the price without bartering. He was extremely attentive and had a great sense of humor. Very relatable. I often am concerned with other slc competition bike stores and their customer service. Or lack of. I will return to this darling, local, and HONEST shop in the future. read more

As a broke avid cycling enthusiast, you develop a very good sense of which bicycle shops have soul and which are filled with pompous assholes who specialize in selling Specialized. You see the best bicycle shops aren't around shopping centers they're hidden in back alleyways and kind of middle of nowhere distinguishable as important places. Anyways I don't know what to say about this place... or what to write.... I had them build me up a bike. I brought in the parts, they built it up, It's pretty solid. I've never had a bicycle shop set my brakes up so nicely... Upon impression and the received service, The owner seems really competent. I don't have any evidence of this besides my own Bike and experience, but it's my opinion. Also watch out for the young guy with the beard. If your bike knowledge is competent enough, sometimes you can find him giving out misinformation, but he sure tries to help, and sure likes to talk.... I don't know, go inside, this place doesn't look like, you know, just a store. It looks like a bicycle shop built by an avid cyclist. I guess it has soul.... And they sell the brands I like/ dream of owning. I don't dream of owning a specialized, but they do sell Litespeed, and they're an authorized dealer of litespeed... Yeah... go to a couple of bike shops, the come to this one, and you'll see what it means for a bike shop to have soul.... Also as someone who's been to a lot of bike shops over the years, their service prices are only slightly below average, but when it came to the build quality I think I got more than what I payed for... but.... communication was somewhat lacking... This shop takes care of you. Simply put, they are there to help you. They care about their customer base. I had a great experience one evening when I needed some quick work done fixing a flat before a city ride I was going on, and the shop had just closed minutes before, I showed up asked for help while they were basically leaving and mark went the extra mile to help me get it taken care of. Mark helped me for a long time the other day in the shop. He made it easy for me to be honest with him. They have a good amount of bikes to choose from. He was able to fit me perfectly and could show me multiple bikes of what I would want. He knows his stuff and is willing to teach without making you feel stupid. My only complaint is that he wasn't listening to what I wanted within my price range and ultimately left with out a bike. read more

I think that Saturday Cycles used to be in Bountiful, But now they are located across the street from where I work. GOOD thing too, because I have decided to support my better half in his pursuit of fitness. Seeing how we will be biking to work now, I decided to take our 80's 10 speeds in for a tune up. What a great place! It's an open garage like space with bikes and gear everywhere. They also have a counter with stools so you can hang out and watch bikes get fixed if you want. I instantly felt the urge to spend the rest of my afternoon looking at every last part and accessory in the joint. When I went back to pick up our bikes, I decided to get new tires put on one of them. Mark helped me with that, he also helped me put together a sweet setup for my better half in case he gets a flat. He was so helpful and didn't try to sell me everything in the store, only the stuff I needed. I think I may be spending a lot of time here in the future. read more

I took my bike in to have a new headset put in and a tune-up. I was quoted that the headset for my bike would cost $40 and the tune-up was around $60, but depending on what needed to be done, the price may change. I was fine with that and the guy helping me said they would call before they started work and that it would take about a week and a half to get my bike up and running. Fast forward three weeks, I called them to see how it was going. They informed me that they hadn't even started work on my bike and that they also forgot to order the headset. They said it would take another week to get the headset in. Two weeks later I called them to find out what was going on. I was told that the $40 headset they ordered did not in fact fit my bike. The guy said he had one in the shop that would work (why did we waste a month if you had one on hand) but that it was $80 and he had to sand down an area on my bike to get it to work. (WHAT!). He told me about the sanding AFTER ALREADY DOING IT. I told him to stop working on it and that I would be in to pick it up on Friday. I ended up wasting a month and a week, being tricked into spending $55 on a headset I did not want, a sanded down frame, and no tune up! After, we tried to talk to a manager about it, MAX hung up on us mid-sentence. Terrible customer service, terrible bike shop. I will not be going back to this sham of a shop. read more

I had a pretty nasty bike wreck and broke parts of my older Ultegra brake handle. The parts are no longer available to order, but they dug around their bins and found the parts to put everything back in order. Parts and installation for free. I replaced my broken tail light and bought a number of great Stinger of Steamboat Springs food products. Great people. read more
