I asked Saul to provide estimates for several repair and landscaping projects for my yard. He seemed to be a very nice and helpful person. He repaired and adjusted several sprinklers and also promised to install new grass in the front yard. Unfortunately, the grass installation was postponed due to his unavailability. I tried contacting him for more than a week, but I did not receive any response. The lack of communication made it difficult for me to understand and raised concerns about his reliability... Since I have been unable to reach him, I have had no choice but to look for another landscaping company to complete the job. I am disappointed with how the situation was handled, especially since my initial experience with him was very positive. I received a text from Saul last night which was 3 months after I left the last review. This is what he said.. "Hi Zarina thank you for your review on Yelp for my bussines, i have all the messages and you never Confirm the appointment the do the job next day, i hope one day your parent grass don't turn brown suddenly." Please, I confirmed and he said I was too late. He will only respond via text don't bother calling him. Sorry but customers are always right. Texts can be deleted. And for him to respond rudely via yelp and text to these reviewers who gave him a poor review due to his service shows what kind of businessman he is. I had another gardener come the following day and for one person to do the yard he did an amazing and clean job. Not only did he take his time but he cleaned up very well. Therefore deserved an extra $30 for his job well done. But thanx saul for not giving me any service because then I wouldn't of found the other gardner who is willing to communicate with me on the phone not by texting and who calls me to confirm not me having to call them to confirm. So happy with Saul. I went to Yelp looking for a gardner last year. I discovered a husband and wife team with overall good reviews and went with them. What a bad move. In the process of them being here they caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to my artificial putting green and lacked simple gardening 101 skills. In the process I also watched part of the slope of my house dry up and die because they did not know you could hand toggle on sprinklers to see if they are working (which they weren't). Never-mind that. Exasperated I returned to Yelp and discovered Saul. Having been so burned (literally!) I asked Saul to walk around my house and describe what he would do and what issues he saw. Saul knows his stuff. He pointed out many things he would have done differently and things lacking. Many of them I had felt the same about for months. Saul has been my gardener for a few months now and I am quite happy. My yard looks great and my fig walls look quite tidy and healthy. It is a monumental change from my previous gardeners and heck. He is even cheaper! I had my sprinkler system upgraded and changed out everything but the lawn sprinkler heads. He showed up and showed me some great low flow options which he then installed for me. yelp notified me that they removed my review for it being 3rd party information. I joined yelp just to post this review. I was doing my best not to be specific so the owner would not identify me or my elderly parents for our safety of repercussions. I encouraged my parents to call Saul Gonzales & even when they told me his follow up was poor I asked them to try again thinking they might have done something wrong. The same thing happened as other reviewers posted, Mr Gonzales follow up is extremely poor & unprofessional. We had an appointment to go over everything & he did not show up, call or answer his phone when I called. I took the morning off work to be with my parents for this meeting and it was a waste of time unless that is why he really did not show up or call me back. Might of been since he knew I was there he could not take advantage of an elderly couple- I don't know since he never returned my call. Upon reviewing all the information with my parents we all felt this was a case of ageism, and that the quote was price gauging since the numbers were always changing. Follow up - bad Attitude- rude & negative Professionalism & showing up at all or on time- extremely poor Integrity/honesty- lacking The thought of someone like this coming to your home weekly- scary Let's see if yelp keeps this review up now since I let them know I was more involved & Saul Gonzales did not show up for me- or call me in addition to how he treated my parents. One word can describe Saul, his workers and service: TERRIBLE. From start to finish when I fired them. I had made it a point to meet with Saul several times to go over my entire property to make sure there weren't any doubts or questions of exactly what j wanted done, accomplished and not touched at all. His quote to do certain things was quite reasonable compared to all my other quotes which should have been the fist big red flag. The next big red flag is that he barely gets back to you and when he does it is only by text. He doesn't pick of the phone to make a call. So after our several meetings he sends out two men that I have never met before onto my property without him and they just start hacking away at anything and everything on my property!!! Clearly Saul never had a conversation with them on what to do. Not to mention I thought Saul was supposed to be there at my property with them. They completely butchered several plants and bushed of mine that will take YEARS!!!! To grow back!!! And his response to me that it is a learning curve??? WTF?! No that is not how this works. That is why we met prior to commencing so this would not happen. Then to the kicker....he comes and says he is going to replace certain sprinklers, and reroute some of them and provided me with a separate quote for this work. Well this was a complete waste of money. The garbage work that he did, I ended up digging it back up myself and had to pay someone else to come out and fix what he did. He connected some weirdo hosing to my existing sprinkler lines instead of doing in properly with PVC. Then took out and stole my existing LP Toro sprinkler heads which are pretty expensive compared to the crappy rainbird ones he installed which, by the way, were 3-4 inches taller than my existing ones! Didn't measure nothing! Didn't care how anything looked. Overall, he and his men trashed my yard. Had no regard for my current plants not my sprinkler system. I am attaching some photos. Oh and he leaves his garbage all over your property without throwing it away. But I would NOT recommend this guy to anyone! Stay aware from this company if you like your property. read more

Saul and I communicate through text which is great for me. Due to my schedule we have never even met. He's worked with me since day one. I've been pleased with his work but today I am especially impressed with him. I left for work this am at about 5 (in a rush of course Cuz I'm always running late) and was bummed because the bear had knocked over my trash bin again( happens all the time!) and there was trash all down my driveway. Came home later that evening to see it had all been cleaned up by Saul. Can't even express my appreciation. Working six days a week and having a two year old calls for long, long days. Highly recommended. Saul has done excellent work and is extremely reliable and responsive. Him and his team are much better than any gardner we had in the past. I frequently use him for side projects in addition to the regular maintenance and he's very fair and knows what he's doing. I can also assure he's very honest with his service, several times I'd asked him to do work and he said that it wouldn't make sense based on the season or wasn't effective for my plant issues. Saul came to our residential property and we had good discussions about his recommendations on upgrading our irrigation system. He seemed engaged and eager to work with us. I only had an hour with him before needing to work with our handyman, so he had to leave before we could talk about pricing. I followed up with him on his cell for an estimate, and he said he would deliver in a couple of days. He did not. I followed up three more times via both email and cell phone, but have not heard back from him at all. It's been a month since his initial visit. Better think twice before dealing with this individual. He did a job for me and it was very sloppy. Really didn't notice it until he left. He did come back and said he would correct different issues. Waited for him and he did a "NO SHOW". I left 3 emails and 3 phone messages but to no avail. It almost impossible to get a hold of him because he doesn't return his calls or emails. Gave up and am having to hire someone else to fix his mess. I don't know how he got 5 stars on some of these reviews. He also did work on another house on my block and had problems there, too. If you want to take a chance on him DO NOT pay him until you are completely satisfied. And, be very, very clear on what you want - mistakes there too. Better to get everything in writing. Take note of the other one-star reviews, all this year and within the last 3 months. These are current and there is obviously a pattern. Think at this point he only wants the BIG jobs. He should remember the smaller jobs are the ones who got him started in the first place. But there is still a matter of common courtesy and respect. For Celia and Zarina, you were better off that he didn't keep his appointments or return your numerous communications. Believe me. read more

I contacted Saul for some landscape work, based on prior Yelp reviews. He responded promptly, came over my house around 8 am on a Sat as planned. I explained to him what I wanted done and he happily oblige. He gave good suggestions on sod selection and pointers on how to care for the new lawn. It took him two days to transform my barren backyard to an inviting area for my family to hang out at this summer. He really went out of his way to make sure that I was satisfied with his service. Saul started out as a nice responsible guy when we first met. His team put in a good effort the first couple times. The problem is when you have long term service with them, they started to slack off. We were scheduled for Mon servicing and he would not make the days when it was public holidays even though we paid him for those days. Another problem we had was that he would promise to do something then not show up on that day and make excuses. When we confront him and expect him to apologize he told us instead to find someone else. It's a shame cause he started out like a nice guy. read more
