I've ordered from this spot several times, and I've eaten the Spicy Steakhouse Bowl, the Tex Mex Flex Bowl, and the Spicy Chicken Ranch Bowl. All of these bowls were delicious each time I ate it, and can't go wrong with either options. For the Spicy Steakhouse Bowl, you have the option to order Carne Asada instead of Steak. I order double meat because the meat is very tender, and the portions are generous for a reasonable price. If you're in the area looking for a quick bite, this is one of the better spots in Rio. read more

The OG ($8.50) - Grilled Steak, Avocado, Chipotle Crema, Jack Cheese, White Rice, Black Beans, Roasted Corns, Peppers & Onions. First off, their portion's huge. It's probably 1 of the best bang for your buck in the area. The amount of meat they gave me's about doubled of Chipotle's. Flavor-wise, the steak's pretty solid. Overall, it's a pretty decent burrito. Chips & Guacamole ($4) - Just like their burritos, the amount of guac they give you's about 4x more than Chipotle's. I don't know how the heck this place can only have three stars? We just ordered the Carve Burrito with extra meat, and the churro desert with chocolate. WOW! We chose the spicy tortilla which was amazing and the burrito was absolutely incredible. It had tons of meat, tons of flavor, and didn't fall apart. The chips with guacamole was also phenomenal. So I ordered through Doordash to the Savage Burrito located in Columbia Mall, and although the menu looked great, the food was disappointing. My boyfriend and I both got the OG and neither of us were impressed. Besides the fact that they added avocados when the order clearly said NO avocados the food itself was bland and had too much pepper in it. Everything just tasted dry and lacked flavor. The food is great here. I want to love the place but they make it hard. I've ordered through grubhub 4 or 5 times and each time I get a message from app on it being delayed or text from the driver that they don't have my order, so they don't work well with the delivery services. While the food is good the portions have changed literally every time I've ordered. I order from Columbia mall one and they started off with huge portions, but come in a smaller box and looks different literally every time. Chipotle has some fierce competition here. Finally an affordable, quality fast food Mexican spot that pack a punch with portion sizes! I've been looking for a spot in the area for the last year just trying to find some actually good queso, guac, & salsa on occasion without breaking the budget. Got a special on Uber Eats so decided to this this place. I already knew that they were a pop-up for Uncle Julio's which has decent food. Pick up was easy as you just tell the front staff at Uncle Julio's your order and they brought it out quickly. Ordered the fried chicken picnic burrito and the spicy steakhouse burrito to share and both were pretty large; maybe slightly smaller than Chipotle, but more than enough food. I honestly couldn't tell the chicken was fried and the burrito itself was kinda meh. The steakhouse was a lot better and way more flavorful, so I would order that one again. Based on the fairly good reviews I decided to try this place out based on some reviews saying this was a better chipotle. Man was that a lie and now I believe they paid people to right positive reviews. Everything I ate just tasted strange and not done professionally, like this food was made in someone's garage. I ordered the steak and fried chicken bowl which both had a funny taste to them. The guacamole for my chips had already oxidized from the terrible packaging and had no taste. Ordered through Uber eats and got the og bowl with steak and it was super cold upon arrival, steak cold, rice cold and probably from the previous day, discolored corn. Definitely not fresh at all. Also got chips and queso, the flavor was good but also cold, seems like the only thing that was fresh were the chips which I did enjoy. No, it was the $25.00 bowl (after taxes and tip) but that is not the worst part! When I opened the bowl it was only 1/3 full!! This did not even constitute as a small appetizer!! I could not believe it!! It was basically, over $2.00 and ounce!!! What a joke! They apologized but said there was nothing they could do, since it was a third party delivery service! I have nothing but good things to say about "Savage Burrito"! My boyfriend and I ordered late night delivery from them for the first time a couple nights ago and we were blown away. I ordered the spicy chicken ranch bowl. I ate it so fast I didn't even remember to take any pictures. IT WAS SO MFING GOOD. The cheese looked freshly grated. It was so soft and finely cut. The chicken wasn't chewy or dry like most takeout chicken. And that sauce that came with it!! This was also their delivery, I can only imagine how this bowl would taste FRESH. What a great find!! Decided to get savage burrito for delivery and we are looking forward to trying it again. You MUST try their queso with hatch chilies it is so creamy, cheesy and the hatch chilies gives it a kick without being too spicy -- we devoured it! Husband ordered a chicken burrito with Nashville hot chicken and he loved the unique flavor combination and the generous amount of fillings (even proportions, rice wasn't used as a filler). I ordered a burrito bowl with black beans and was slightly disappointed because my bowl has NO black beans. I luckily had some in the fridge for my everyday salads and was able to use that. The chipotle crema and habanero salsa are both must tries if you are creating your own bowl but I do have to take a star away because of the fact that my black bean burrito bowl turned into a (still delicious with good proportion of lettuce to other toppings) salad. Looking forward to our next meal from savage burrito -- maybe next time we will just pick it up! read more

Horrible!! They are so busy minding Uncle Hulios Rio Grand, Savage gets sidelined!! Was given a completely wrong order after ordering from Uber Eats. Had to wait 25 min after order was ready per Uber Eats App. Then once opened at home....was completely the wrong order. I ordered a hot chicken bowl and was given a pork quesadia instead!! I think the positive reviews may be fake. This place is pretty terrible. The rice wasn't cooked correctly. Crunchy rice in a burrito, from a place that specializes in burritos? Yikes. I ordered tonight from Savage Burrito for the first time and I was very impressed. I always gauge the quality of Tex Mexican food using Uncle Julios as the high bar. Savage Burrito is a ghost kitchen based in Uncle Julios, The burrito was one of the best I have ever had. I created my own burrito vs using the pre made options they offered. The create your own gives you many options and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I can not remember the last time I had a burrito this good. I ordered a spicy chicken ranch burrito. The first 5-6 bites were just tortilla and rice and were extremely dry, leaving me wondering what I paid for. When I finally hit some kind of moisture--I was more than disappointed. At first the spicy chicken was a welcome texture, but as soon as I could taste the seasoning, it took a generous gulp of water just to get it down! SALT! All you can taste is salt. Every bite of meat was like swallowing a salt-lick, leaving me craving the the dry rice and tortilla that I had previously been consuming. The meat was, in fact, cooked perfectly juicy and the textures were beyond satisfying. Which made me think what a shame it was that someone used what seemed a dump truck to pout salt on it. I tried my best to enjoy what I could, but every bite warranted a gulp of water until I gave up 2/3 through and chucked the rest. Please learn to taste your meat before serving. And btw, I do enjoy salty food. But this was beyond. Bury that chicken in a hole with that seasoning without refrigeration and it would have stayed well for years. read more
