The pralines here are better than the ones at Market Street Sweets but not as good as ones I've had in Savannah or New Orleans. It is nice that they give you a good sized sample so you can determine if you want to buy any. I enjoyed mine but recognize that they aren't the best I've ever had. They did, however, have more of the dark brown sugar caramel flavor that pralines should have (versus the plain sugary flavor and crumbly texture of the ones at Market Street Sweets). read more

Wife and I got our candy fix as we started walking around down town. Sitting right next to market street, this was a perfect spot to kick off our walk. Wife and I tried the crickets just to do it and had the clerk and another family watch us. Chocolate was very good, and a cold coca cola to walk with was just what we needed. read more

I loved this candy store! It was the best! It has great specialty candy and the employees are SUPER feiendly. They have all the candy in barrels, which is very creative and some candy is on the wall along with the preline samples are great! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and after visiting the market we stopped in here. He got a candy apple and I got a caramel apple. His candy apple was rotten and my caramel apple had what looked to be worms in it. I did get some truffles which were really good. read more

This was a cute little candy store. Good Gelato and great chocolate and caramel confections. Our only problem is the staff seemed not enthused to be there. I stood at the counter for about 5 minutes before I had to ask for someone to help me ( I was the only one standing there). The shop was cute but customer service is essential. First of all, this place will give you a free sample of their pralines, which are delicious. The pralines are the star of the show here, but their fresh saltwater taffy is also extremely solid, especially as it's only $8/lb. Great candy for a very reasonable price. I'd come back. read more

Charleston's Candy Kitchen is related to Savannah's Candy Kitchen. These folks make the best pralines that I have had on my journey through Georgia and South Carolina. At $17.95/pound, the candies are not outrageously expensive - affordable enough for a bite or to take some home. Skip the gelato though - it is not that good. read more

Umm you cannot go wrong with candy here. The smell when you walk in the door....Ugh soooo good. I wasn't going to go in but when that whiff hit me I was like a zombie to brains. The praline sample was excellent and it was a good enough sample to get a nice taste of it. This is a great place to pick up some sweets and go, and maybe even get a bit of really rich Gelato! It's a tourists candy shop so keep that in mind when you go in. There are several of these all over the area but this one I thought was the better of them all. The staff was funny they were having fun and possibly a great day judging by other reviews about their enthusiasm. I came out under $10 so I wouldn't say its expensive. Well unless you go in and wanna gobble up a whole lot of sweets lol. A few pretzels and fudge is good enough to get a taste for some well made candy. read more

In the past this candy store was great and had excellent taffy and chocolates. However in the past few years the taffy has was been way too soft and gooey. The taffy sticks to the wrappers and your hands and doesn't peel off of the wrapper like it should. If the taffy wasn't so sticky eating the taffy would be a more enjoyable experience. Most of the flavors are good but not great. This store needs to work on its saltwater taffy making process. read more

1) If you don't like people in general, or if it's a particular kind of people you don't care for, then you shouldn't work in the service industry. 2) Doesn't matter how good the product is if your service personnel are rude. "Brittany" asked if I needed help with an attitude, as if doing her job was bothersome and there I was. I'd seen the sign for Pralines, and went in to buy some. I'd never had Pralines before and didn't even know what they looked like, and made the mistake of mentioning this to Mizz Brittany. With a disgusted snarl, clearly annoyed by my attempt at conversation, she snatched a broken piece from a tray and shoved it at me, then, looked away as if to say she wasn't into conversing. While I got the message, I had questions. Every answer was snotty and angry. I did buy a few pieces and watched Brittany throw the candy into a box, and the box into a bag. Since I live clear across the country, her attitude couldn't have been personal, I'd never seen her before. I wasn't at all rude to her, in fact, I was friendly and cheerful. Nothing I did warranted her rudeness. I came to the conclusion that it was racial. Mizz Brittany should find another job or be reassigned in the back where she doesn't have to deal with the public. The candy was overpriced. The caramel turtles weren't bad. The Pralines entirely too sweet for my taste. My friend had the gelato and said it wasn't that good. I wanted souvenirs with a Southern flare for my family, and might've bought more if not for the snotty counter girl. read more

Awful customer service. Not a single employee looked like they wanted to be there. After waiting for a few minutes to have our order taken, an employee from across the store had to yell at the employee who was supposed to be helping us before she would acknowledge us. We only purchased one thing: a circle of white chocolate with caramel and nuts on one side of it. It was so awful I couldn't finish it. The white "chocolate" tasted like wax. read more

Grew up coming to get pralines and turtles and didn't disappoint when I came back grown up.

I am a huge fan of their gelato, especially the raspberry. The pecan pralines are also delicious!

Ice cream is horrible, freezer burn and tasteless. No one would help us. We stood there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come help us. We finally went and got a guy who was sweeping the floor. He came over, wipes his nose with his glove and went to begging serving ice cream. I had to ask him to change his gloves! The ice cream is super bland and way overpriced!!! read more

We just moved to South Carolina in August, and we've been to Charleston a few times. Unlike the other people to leave reviews, I've actually eaten their sweets. & they are so good! I bought a few different kinds of truffles & they were all excellent. They had so many flavors to chose from. & I also bought some of their fudge, which was also very good! I think I bouth 8 truffles & a chunk of fudge for around $8. So not too bad. Next time we go, I'm buying one of those huge caramel apples. They run about $8 - $12, but I bet they're worth it! read more

Went here after dinner on a Tuesday night around 9:40ish, we were the only people in the store which was not a problem at all. My family walked around the store looking at all the appetizing candy for about 5 minutes. We then wandered over to the ice cream counter and were pretty obvious that we wanted to buy a cone but not a single employee asked if we would like to sample or want to buy something. In fact I had to be assertive and ask what ice cream was what. The one girl who was right in front of us did not answer but in fact the girl manning the cash register chimed in and did her job for her. The girl who helped us was sweet and was happy to help while the one right behind the counter never made eye contact and was giving serious b**** attitude. I bought an ice cream cone for myself which I was satisfied with however my Mom didn't buy anything because of the unacceptable service. I'm not sure if they wanted to just get out and be done with work but we made a point to never go there again. Right after going to this store my mom and dad went to Haagen Das across the street (with much better service). Great ice cream and awesome candy selection but absolutely AWFUL service! read more
